Clever and insightful , this book takes you beyond the rope, and into the VIP area of a place so exclusive, so niche you cannot even imagine it.

So special and elite that they need an island to party on,should it really come as a surprise that the only thing to upstage the opening was a death?

Taking in multiple viewpoints, from the outraged villagers whose once quiet life is full of gawkers, to the police having to quickly continue continue murder scene, the character driven plot creates an illusory sense of belonging, even as it shuffles your hopeful , needful personage towards the security team waiting to launch you out the tradesman's entrance.

The tale of brothers Ned and Adam, who began the venture which evolved into world wide clubs under the Home brand, is an exercise in elitism and ambition.

But after many years of socially acceptable properties which offer an experience like no other, a whole island Home just blows all the others out of the water.

For the Club is a place and a way of life. There is a cuckoo in the nest, a waiting world desperate to see how the mighty have fallen, and a submerged vehicle containing an unidentified body.

As the suspense builds towards a crescendo, it is all to easy to become immersed, swallowed whole,by the history of the rich, the famous, who are so recognisable, so privileged, that they end up seeking the very anonymity they sold everything to gain. Even their conscience.

I loved the tension, the barbed exchanges between owners and staff that created such an atmosphere from the very first page.

The reader gains such a rounded perspective from the owners who really are tired with being the top of the pile-how do you begin to match the standards which you set yourselves over and over again without ennui setting in?- Annie, who has been involved in the Home Group since the beginning, the cuckoo in the nest, Nikki, who has bagged an incredible role which she seems to have been planning for years.

Interspersed with their stories is the public side of things, the newspaper articles , interviews and exposes which make you think, who really created this monster, and how much do we, as mere plebs, enjoy seeing a well known society figure being brought to their knees?

I was honestly riveted to every plot twist, it was a breathless deep dive into a world so removed from my own that I couldn't envisage it. It made a voyeur of me to a devastating series of events which made me think that perhaps they brought it on themselves. And sometimes, the Club membership price might just cost you your soul. Or your life.

I loved reading this book! Great storyline and I needed to see what happened at 'the club'. Well written and fast paced. Well worth a read.

Thanks to netgalley for a copy of this book in advance.

Where to begin. This book was in my top 5 anticipated reads in 2022 and i mean come on the cover.. if that doesn't draw you in what will?

I think maybe I might have hyped this one up too much for myself as it was really just fine. I have rated it 3.5 stars on socials and to be honest that's quite high. The story was fab but it was quite slow and honestly it didn't do anything any other thriller I've read hasn't done. My rating was for intrigue and anxiety but honestly it wasn't fantastic

I would still recommend this to my followers and friends but it wasn't what I thought it was going to be.

The opening of Island Home is tipped to be the biggest celebrity event of the decade.

I had really enjoyed Ellery Lloyds first novel so was interested to read The Club. I had only seen after it was also a Reese Witherspoon Book Club Pick also.
The story drew me in, many different interesting characters - wondering how they would all fit in with the story - perhaps a bit confusing at first but it all gelled together well. The interesting world of celebrity high profile private clubs that seem a different world for mere mortals! I was not let down reading this. So many twists and turns, greed and scandal - a couple I guessed but that did not spoil the experience for me at all. The ending was exciting and kept me guessing until the end.
Thanks for NetGalley and the publisher for a chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Club is a fictional story about a highly exclusive club which has a chain of sumptuous hotels across the world. The owners of The Club are Ned and Adam who are in the midst of opening their newest location: Island Home. However, tempers are flaring with budget overruns and countless delays. How will Ned be able to keep his Club running?

This was too much of a slow burner with far too many characters and not enough character development. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

What a juicy read, almost in the fashion of one of my favorite authors, Jackie Collins. Glitz and glamour, combined with suspense and drama, what more can one ask for! Recommended for anyone who loves something else to enjoy!

The premise sounded great with such a unique plot. An exclusive members only club for the rich and famous is opening a new resort on an island off the coast of England. It is only accessible by a Causeway at low tide. An isolated island, perfect place for a murder mystery. The launch party is the event of the decade.

I enjoyed this story however I did find it a bit slow at times. I felt it was overly detailed and descriptive in places which I tended to skim over. Overall , I liked how all the characters were woven together, although not very likeable as the all had their own agendas. The storyline kept me guessing til the end. This is perfect for a beach/ holiday read.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an arc

What a rollercoaster of a ride!!

An exclusive members only club for the rich and famous is opening a new resort. The launch party is the event of the decade!

An isolated location gives the perfect opportunity for a locked in murder mystery.

Fast paced and wild! The story kept me hooked and the twists were unexpected.

A great insight into the exclusive world of the most watched members of society, and the lengths they will go to to be unseen.

Whilst the descriptive writing was great, it unfortunately then resulted in the book being quite slow in pace. I didn't hate it, but it wouldn't be one I would jump at to recommend to others.

The opening of Island Home is tipped to be the biggest celebrity event of the decade.

Famous around the world as an ultra-exclusive private members’ club, the Home Group is about to launch its most ambitious location yet, set on a remote island that offers guests complete privacy as well as utter luxury.

Until tragedy strikes during the opening weekend…the premise sounded good to me but unfortunately the book was just ok, I didn’t love it.

As soon as I started reading, I just couldn’t get into it. It felt like there was too much description, too much setting the scene and it took too long to get into the story for me. Others might enjoy this style but I found myself skim reading much of the first few chapters to get to the point where the plot began properly. I kept going in the hope that I’d eventually get hooked. While the plot did become more interesting as I got to know all the characters and understand their motives, I still feel it was an ok book but nothing particularly exceptional or memorial about it. A solid 3 out of 5 stars.

I have already enjoyed the debut novel ‘People Like Her’ by London couple Collette Lyons and Paul Vlitos, who write thrillers together under the pseudonym Ellery Lloyd, so when ARCs for their latest work, ‘The Club’, became available, I jumped at the chance. It is fair to say that this is a very different type of thriller, mainly because we have four different points of view and a great many characters. One of these is fictional Ned Groom, who runs a string of prestigious, highly expensive celebrity clubs in desirable destinations in London, Paris, Malibu, Manhattan, Shanghai and elsewhere. During the launch party for the group’s most ambitious project yet, on a secluded island off the English coast, however, tensions erupt, and sinister things start to happen that will end in murder….
Whereas I found some of the fictional celebrities a little unbelievable, some sense of ‘believabilty’ was restored through the choice of the four narrators, all of whom hold the club’s structure together: these are Nicki (the owner’s PA), Adam (his younger brother), Annie (head of membership) and my favourite narrator, Jess (a housekeeper). An intense read, this is a novel to be devoured over a long rainy weekend and to be passed on to friends. Thank you to the publishers and to NetGalley for the free ARC that enabled me to produce this impartial book review.

This is the slowest book I’ve read in years… truly painful to read. This should have been a novella and the first 75% of the book deleted.

I really enjoyed the premise of this one and thought it was a good read. My only challenge was the number of characters which made it a little confusing in the beginning. However, I liked the idea for the book and the suspense of everyone's motives!

Home is an exclusive members only club.
It is owned and run by brothers Ned and Adam Groom after inheriting the business from the grandfather.
This story centres around the opening and launch of Island Home.
Set on an island off the coast of England, accessible only by a causeway during low tide. Ned is setting up for the biggest launch party with 150 of the most exclusive Home members. It seems that everyone has something to hide.

I enjoyed this story, I liked how all the characters were woven together. However the story at times was a bit chaotic and oddly over detailed.
I couldn’t say that there were any of the characters I really liked. They were all underhanded with their own agendas.
The story ultimately did keep me guessing to the end as I only sort of guessed the outcome. One I would recommend. A perfect holiday read. I could also see this as an on screen adaptation. I think it would be more impactful of the glitz and glamour.

This book is one that lingers in your mind and makes you want to join every possible book club just to talk about it.

Someones died, but we need to know who, In a world of celebrities and glamour the carnage that develops feels so raw, and wrong but also the best type of juicy gossip.

The twists and truns along the plotline continually suprise you and when you do finish you'll be thinking about it for days!

Compulsive thriller that looks at celebrity culture, privilege and greed.

I was a huge fan of Ellery Lloyd’s debut #PeopleLikeHer and the taut magnifying glass they placed over the dark side of influencer culture in that magnificent thriller. The writing team behind Ellery Lloyd (husband and wife Collette Lyons and Paul Vlitos) are back again with a similarly suspenseful gaze at celebrity culture: it’s excesses, vulgarity and manipulation. Arguably, The Club is even better than People Like Her and it’s no surprise that this brilliant book was chosen as March’s @reesesbookclub pick. I literally couldn’t put this one down!

One of the things I enjoyed the most was the structure of the narrative. The book opens with a thrilling prologue that gives us a glimpse into a dramatic event that will define the location (the exclusive and luxurious celebrity club, Island Home) and frame the rest of the plot. The remainder of the book is constructed of chapters that are made up of sub-sections from the POVs of multiple key characters and a Vanity Fair article that has been written after the events that unfold through these characters’ perspectives. I thought this style was really effective at bringing the truth to light in a measured and suspenseful way, but it also built pace and kept me wanting to
turn the pages. I loved that we don’t know who the victims of the opening tragedy are and that Lloyd keeps you guessing until exactly when they want to reveal the truth. There’s so many elements to this novel and each of them develop individually and as a whole to paint a bigger picture that is a rich canvas of tragedy, manipulation, revenge, hatred and the dark side of privilege and notoriety. It’s absolutely fascinating to read and kept me guessing throughout, with some really surprising twists adding the perfect shock value to the narrative.

This novel is full of discussion worthy themes and is an astute critique of celebrity culture in our modern day society. It’s also an exploration of how others exploit this and it raises some really intriguing questions about the hypocrisy, shallowness and instability of fame. Whilst the wealth and position of being a public figure gave some of the characters the power to behave in ways that they would not have got away with in normal society, at the same time, this book also called into the question how easily reputations can be tarnished and careers derailed. The fickle nature of fame and cancel culture is something that looms over the heads of the celebrity characters and the precariousness of this situation is brilliantly explored by Lloyd. I also loved how location plays such an important role in the story. Whilst the setting of Island Home (an island that is only accessible via a causeway that depends on the tide…or by air if you’re rich enough to have a chopper!) is the perfect location for murder and the drama between the pages, it also felt very symbolic to the wider themes of the novel. For me the island was synonymous with the characters, who each act and seem like their own islands, only to discover that they are interlinked by the swirling sea of characters around them. Lloyd weaves a tangled web of deceit and manipulation that ties these characters and their stories together in a remarkable way. I absolutely loved the detail of this novel and would highly recommend it to those who enjoy a complex, but highly readable thriller that packs an impressive punch!

Telling the downfall of this private members club, this was a compelling, light reading extravaganza. Some characters easier to love than others! Thanks for the opportunity to review this book

Gripping from start to finish, keeps you guessing until the end. The characters, though mainly despicable, are well built and developed and their motivations are clear
