I really enjoyed the characters in this book, and the wedding was a good device by which to bring them together again and see them as foils for each other. The flashbacks throughout the years were also good ways to see the friends grow closer & further from each other as they got older, and especially as their lives went different directions. I would have liked to read more exploring the relationship between the mothers & their daughters (and each others' daughters), and for the wedding itself (and the interactions between the women) to play out in a bit more detail.

Obaro's "Dele Weds Destiny" deals with a variety of themes, the generational gap, womanhood, friendship and cultural identity, whilst being a mostly character driven novel.
Really enjoyed this. Read differently to what I expected and there were some points where I wanted more of the character stories and motivations in the present but it worked well and the author managed to capture their distinct personalities.
