I love the concept of twisting the old classics, so I was excited to read this with my children. I thoroughly enjoyed Twisted Fairy Tales, as did my kids. We all laughed out loud numerous times. The artwork that goes with the stories is fantastic! This is a great book tos read aloud as a family.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
As much as I love mixed up fairytales, I was not thrilled with this collection. I did enjoy the story about the Narwals and the one about Little Rude. I even enjoyed the Ninjabread Man. However, I didn’t enjoy the other stories. I didn’t enjoy the Cinderella story. I liked the idea that the fairy godmother had poor hearing but I didn’t enjoy the writing. Snow White was the same. The prince shows up to look for Snow White but why? I like that she is a machinist but that was about all I liked. They weren’t memorable stories.
Super cute idea I was intrigued from the description and the stories definitely lived up to my expectations!
Twisted Fairy Tales is a wonderful concept that takes well-known fairy tales and turns them on their head. I had read a few in this collection already but there were a few I had not read. Each of the twisted tales has cute illustrations that are sure to be a hit with the kids. While I don't care for a few of the stories, it is great to see new takes on old tales.
Thank you NetGalley and Arcturus Publishing for the opportunity to read an advance reading copy.
If you want classic fairy tales with a silly, 'punny' twist, definitely check out "Twisted Fairy Tales." I read this out loud to my young children and the story and accompanying illustrations had us all giggling throughout each of the six twisted stories. Igniting an interest in the classical stories and sparking lots of questions about wordplay was my favorite side effect of reading these out loud to my children.
I was given an advance book in exchange for an honest review. While I realize I am not in their demographic, I really ind it hard to appreciate a techno or other galaxy take on fairytale. . Many may disagree either, but YA males would probably Think it would be a nice change. I would like to thank #NetGalley,,the publishers, and authors for the opportunity of having a chance to review early.
