The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pakkenan is a very clever book about a couple going to counselling when the wife sleeps with someone else.
The storyline revolves around Avery, the unconventional therapist and Matthew, Marissa and their long time friend, Skip and Chris, the grandfather. The story is full of twists and turns, secrets and lies.
Highly recommended

Thank you Netgalley and PanMacmillan for the advanced copy and sorry for the delay in reading - one good thing about catching Covid is you get to read rather than work.
I have read other books by Greer and Sarah and loved them and this was no exception.
This is an addictive story about a so called golden couple and them trying to fix their marriage .
It is very well written, good characters, lots of secrets and then ..... - I'm not doing spoilers.
Highly recommended if you enjoy a great thriller

This was a great and unputdownable thriller. I really enjoyed this. It wasn't my favourite book by this author duo, but I did enjoy it. I will continue to pick up everything these two write.

Another great thriller that I struggled to put down!

When Marissa takes her husband to see a therapist - who has lost her licence but that actually gives her free rein to practise her 10 step approach - she hopes that Avery can fix her marriage for the sake of her son.

Told from the dual POV of Marissa and Avery it’s certainly a thrilling ride!

I liked that introduction of characters in the background, who as the story progresses, slowly make their way into the foreground and the main body of the story.

Marissa and Matthew have the perfect relationship and one infidelity shouldn’t destroy that.

Their young adulthood between them plays an important part to the story but I won’t say much more than that.

Loved it!

The Golden Couple is an addictive thriller about a seemingly golden couple and the measures they go to to fix their marriage. This is a story filled to the brim with secrets. When the wife of the golden couple cheats, she decides they should try a new therapist. This therapist lost her license due to her unusual methods. If she can't fix you in ten sessions, she won't take you on as a client. Just know, these three are on a collision course. Highly recommended if you enjoy twisty, unpredictable thrillers.

You always know you’re in for a treat when you hear there’s a new book from Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen and The Golden Couple is another great read by this duo. Plenty of twists and turns, some I found quite predictable but didn’t take away from the overall enjoyment.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy of this ebook in exchange for my honest review.

I would firstly like to thank Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I always look forward to books from this authors, and while this book wasn't my favourite, I still enjoyed this one. It missed the initial gripping intrigue, I was gripped into the story the more I read. And I certainly hadn't expected those twists! Can't wait for the next!

My first book by these authors and I really enjoyed it. I love reading books that are written from different character perspectives and this one did not disappoint, a great thriller.

I knew it would be a good one!!!! A gripping read about a therapist who immerses herself in clients lives to help solve their problems….couldn’t put it down!

This is a low 3 stars. I was honestly bored throughout this. I barely cared about the couple. I felt there wasn't enough intensity to make me care.
It was obvious something was gonna happen involving the guy she slept with but there wasn't enough build to it in a way. I feel there was more time spent making Polly look a threat.
The big twist at the end felt underwhelming as did the connection between Avery side story and the couple.

As always, a good book by Greer Hendricks! I liked all the red herrings throughout this book that made sure I did not correctly guess the villain! The story weaves together very well and gave me exactly what I needed from a thriller. Definitely recommend this one!

These two writers do work well together, They create a nice turned story, with plenty of twists and turns and the writing style is smooth and immersive, and basically, easy-to-read.

The Golden Couple of the title are Marissa and Mathew Bishop, who are going through a tricky patch in their marriage. Marissa has dabbled outside the relationship and Mathew is on the verge of wanting a separation. They decide upon Avery, a therapist who has lost her licence to practise and has created her own 10 step programme. I guess the couple - and Marissa in particular - is desperate to save what remains and therefore is drawn to the maverick practitioner.

Avery sets exercises and the couple has to follow the programmed designed specifically for them. She checks on whether they are behaving accordingly by secretly trailing them. And I guess as a trained therapist myself, this is where I struggled to suspend my disbelief. This simply wouldn't happen (here in the UK, anyway, but perhaps it might in the States). The therapist wouldn't have insurance and imagine how things can go very wrong when you are dealing with the delicate issues of the mind!

This is a well written story and it is put together in a gripping way. The story felt so outside my reality that I could appreciate the writing style but just couldn't connect with the basic premise of the story. Wherever it was going to end, I struggled to go along for the ride.

There are a good few red herrings, nothing is what it seems and if you don't get hung up, like I did, on the tenet of the story, then you will certainly be in for an avant-garde ride. Plenty of readers truly loved this novel.

The setting isn't particularly strong.

Wow, The Golden Couple did not turn out the way I expected. It was compulsive reading and twisty-turny in all the right places. Loved it.

I’ve loved all the books I’ve read by this duo and The golden couple joins the list! Even though I did guess a twist towards the end it definitely didn’t take away from the overall reading experience! I love any book that leaves me feeling like I can’t trust any of the characters! Definitely pick this one up if you loved The Wife Between Us!
