Absolutely intoxicating!

Greer Hendrick's continues with their trademark dual narrative, and in 'The Golden Couple' I was introduced to the controversial therapist Avery, and the client Marissa. Initially the book seems straight forward; marital infidelity and the titular golden couple seeking out the help of a therapist in order to reconcile. In only a few chapters it becomes clear that there are murky depths to this story; neither Marissa or Matthew seem entirely trustworthy, and some of the people on the periphery of the couple's life appear to have ulterior motives for seeking out their company. The plot becomes even more thrilling when Avery discovers that there are links to the turmoil in her own life.

Expertly plotted with numerous sub plots intertwined, I couldn't read this book fast enough. No-one is as they seem, and I delighted in being wrong footed as I tried to work out who Marissa's one night stand was with, why she was being stalked and, oh a billion other questions. Hats off to the writing team, as the book never becomes confusing and the plot threads that seem so tangled are all neatly wrapped up by the end of the book.

I absolutely loved every page, and would like to thank the publishers and NetGalley for the advanced copy in reign for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book - I thought the characters were fabulous, especially Avery. It was a real page-turner of a book and I couldn't wait to get to bed at night to continue reading! A clever pot with lots of twists. Well done!

Marissa managed to get her husband Matthew along to see marriage guidance counsellor Avery. Will these sessions help bring The Golden Couple back together?

As they began to explore events in the recent past that have drawn them apart, the murder of a teenage friend of them both back in the day, clearly has some significance as well. And how come Skip seems to know everyone?

Written from two perspectives this is another highly readable story from these authors, as enjoyable as previous efforts.

Thanks to NetGalley for a free copy in exchange for a fair review

Avery Chambers is a therapist come private investigator it feels, while her maverick ten sessions methods might be controversial her clients can’t sing her praises enough. Her newest clients are ‘The golden couple’ Marissa & Mathew Bishop who have come to her due to a infidelity but that isn’t the only secrets that this couple are hiding. It’s not my fave from this writing duo but it’s a good 4* read.

Wow this was a read that was so full of twists and surprises it had me tied up in knots as my mind was constantly changed as the questions of who, what and how flooded my brain. This really is a book that’s impossible to describe it has so much going on and the characters are so damn real some I liked and some I didn’t and then I was changing my mind not knowing who to trust it was a brilliantly crafted plot, I loved it !
This is the fourth book I have read by these two exceptional writers and it just as good if not better than the previous ones, they seem to have a fantastic capability of creating a story that just takes your breath away I just can’t fault it.
So a book that kept me guessing to the end, a book that I couldn’t put down and a book that had such a wonderful ending what more can you ask for except to not be too long in writing the next please !
Many many thanks to Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen and long may you continue to write such amazing books.
My thanks also to NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for giving me the chance to read the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

A new author to me.
Marissa and Matthew Bishop seek
the help of maverick therapist Avery Chambers who uses unconventional techniques - so much so that she has lost her licence, to help restore their marriage after Marissa cheats.

The therapists uses quirky and overly involved techniques. It’s different, it’s like having a therapist that’s also an investigator. It’s very character driven.
There’s a second thread which was introduced through Avery’s connection with a previous patient.
The writing style is easy to read. The pov alternate between Avery and Marissa. I quite like both of them.

I found there’s always plenty going on which kept my interest. The pace is between slow and medium.
There were 2 plot elements which seemed overly convenient, but it entertaining.
I don’t know how the writing worked with the 2 authors, my guess is that they each wrote a characters pov.

When Avery Chambers, maverick consultant therapist, opens her door to new clients Marissa and Matthew Bishop (the golden couple) she is expecting a fairly common marital conflict which will fit easily into her ten step counselling program. But it transpires that Matthew didn’t know there was a problem, until Marissa kicks off by admitting that she has slept with another man, just once and it will never happen again, but her conscience will not let her live with the secret. At first glance this would appear to be a standard, almost clichéd, opening to a romantic story. But there are much more complex issues here.
They had first met as teenagers, part of a large group of friends who spent the summer evenings partying on the beach, and had got together again after University. One of the reasons for the split was that after a barbeque one of their friends, Tina, had wandered off and was later found murdered. A local school teacher had been jailed for this, but the trauma had caused the members of the group to go back to their home towns. Avery also has a problem. One of her clients, a young woman suffering from stress, had told her that the drug company for which she worked had falsified data and was about to release a new drug with a high mortality rate. Avery had averted this disaster by covertly telling the FDA, pretending to be a whistle blower. The company had tracked her down and was now trying to coerce her into revealing the name of the actual source. Various other characters behave suspiciously, including Avery’s old boyfriend, Matthew’s old girlfriend and Marissa’s new assistant. It also appears that the one-night-stand guy is now stalking Marissa.
So, as I said much more complex, and that’s just a quick hint at the main issues. Handling such a complicated plot requires extremely skilful writing to keep everything on track, while entertaining the reader with the quality of the prose and misdirecting without misleading. Fortunately, this writing duo has all of these attributes and I enjoyed this book immensely. Overall, this is perhaps the best mystery novel I have read in the last few years.
I would like to thank NetGalley, the publishers and the author for providing me with a draft proof copy for the purpose of this review.

I loved #YouAreNotAlone by this author pairing and once again really enjoyed the writing with its alternating POVs, and short, snappy chapters. In Avery, the authors also created another super smart, intriguing, badass female character, whose story really gripped me; more so than the main storyline in fact although perhaps that was because I just didn't take to Marissa in the same way. Or perhaps it was because this particular plot didn't feel quite as action packed, crazy and tumultuous as before. I also felt a bit let down by the big reveal, and would've liked more insight into the character's motivations especially with regards to past events. All that said this was a great read but my expectations were impossibly high as a result of loving their previous book so much.

I heard about this book on Facebook but couldn't find it on NetGalley so I was delighted when the publisher offered me the opportunity of reading it.

I have read and enjoyed all previous books by these authors and this one is another sure fire hit.

The Golden Couple in question are the rich and successful Marisa and Matthew Bishop who have a young son. After Marisa has a one night stand she approaches therapist Avery Chambers in order to try and save her marriage. Avery's methods are unusual in that she has a ten step plan for all of her clients and if she doesn't think she can help she won't take them on.
As Avery becomes more involved in the Bishop's lives strange things begin to happen..

One thing I've learnt reading books by this duo is that you can never guess who is doing what to whom as they not only lead you down the garden path but round the garden and back again. At least that's my experience.!

Golden couple Matthew and Marisa are the couple everyone aspires to be. That is until Marisa is unfaithful and she finds the guilt is eating her up. She learns of Avery a therapist who uses a ten session plan to repair marriages.

As their three lives become more entwined, the mystery and unanswered questions seem to multiply and I was trying my best to piece together the plot with very little success.

I love the writing style of this duo and I wasn’t disappointed in this gripping book. They have a unmistakable ability to write twisty psychological thrillers. Another of their books which had me page turning well past my bedtime, I love when a story pulls together and the ending to this book was very satisfying definitely another plus point for me.

Thank you netgalley and the publishers for my chance to read this brilliant book.

I was so excited for this book because I love this author duo. I have read almost all of their books at this point. So when I seen they were coming out with this one I was so happy. This book has all the things I love. Therapy and messed up couples with secrets. This book did not disappoint. It was mostly in 2 perspectives. One of them was an interesting perspective in my opinion and something that you hardly ever seen written. I would highly recommend this if you are looking for something that is dark and twisty.

I have read all the books co-written by this pair to date and have loved them all. This was another cracking read, which kept me gripped from beginning to end.

The eponymous golden couple here are Marissa and Matthew Bishop, whose marriage may appear perfect to outsiders, but is in reality far from it. The story opens when Marissa seeks help from an unconventional therapist named Avery Chambers. She wants to tell her husband something, but is scared to tell him on her own.

Avery has a very unorthodox way of working with clients, which resulted in her losing her license, but she says she can help clients in ten sessions of therapy or she won’t take them on. However, maybe she has taken on too much with this case as neither of them seem to be telling the truth.

The only negative for me was that I predicted the twist before it came, nonetheless this is still a great book that will keep you up late as you won’t be able to put it down.

I look forward to Greer Hendricks’ and Sarah Pekkanen’s next book.

I found this book quite hard to get into as I dislike the characters pretty much from the start- especially Avery.
The plot in itself is very clever with unexpected twists and revelations and the ending is very clever and unexpected but overall not one for me.

This story is fantastically twisted in everything in it. Absolutely transfixed from start to finish and had to forgo sleep just to complete it!

This book was so juicy, I devoured it. It's fast paced, just the right speed and the ending was fantastic. I'd actually love another book of Avery's other clients! Highly recommend

This is the story of a couple who seeks the help of a therapist to save their marriage. Honestly I was impressed by the plot line and was excited to read the work of these famous authors. But then the execution went flat. Marissa and Mathew seek the help of Avery to save their marriage because Marissa has cheated on Mathew using Avery’s 10 sessions rule but then everybody holds secrets.

The story is told in two POV of Marrisa and Avery and the author has tried to make the characters and the plot suspenseful but the characters doesn’t really connect with us. Also the main twist was something predictable but that’s okay if the characters and story were good. Unfortunately this read was a bit of disappointment for me.

As always these two authors never disappoint and this book was a knockout from beginning to end….
It evolves around an unlicensed therapist who now goes under the title of been a consultant and the golden couple themselves who she is adamant that she will fix them more or less but their is a lot of skeletons falling out of their closet and why does she want to fix them so badly, you will have to read it to find out more but a great book..

The Golden Couple is a great book!
I was hooked from the beginning right though to the end and loved every twist and turn along the way.
Told from the perspectives of Avery, the therapist and Marissa, one half of ‘the golden couple’, who is having problems in her marriage. She and her husband go to see Avery to try to save their marriage and what follows is one twisty ride… You’re aware that things aren’t as they seem but you can’t work out why until it’s all revealed at the end.
Brilliantly written with great characters and lots of suspense. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thanks to #netgalley for arc
A psychological thriller that sets the scene from page one you just don’t know it, the book is told from each persons point of view so makes it edgy as you think you see the whole picture but do you
Golden couple Matthew and Marissa have been together since they were 16 and were so in love and untouchable until, Marissa has one night of passion and it’s not with her husband
She calls in Avery an unusual type of therapist who has a ten session rule they agree to work to repair their marriage and work with Avery
But Avery has very unusual techniques but things start to happen in all their personal lives that seem to somehow be connected but that cannot be as they have never met each other
Avery begins to suspect something is very wrong but even she cannot begin to see what it is
Fantastic read and kept me hooked until last page
