A Tangled Affair is a quick read. It grabs the readers’ attention with fast moving plots. The heroine is a great example of a successful woman focused on giving her all to her family and her work. Her lack of self-esteem and complete naïve trust in others puts blinders on reality of what is really happening without her knowledge. The pretense that all is well in her happy world crumbles as she finally begins to investigate the inconsistencies surrounding her husband and their finances. His untimely death adds complexity to her journey for truth. Though at times the plot twists seem unrealistic, the theme for women to give due diligence to every aspect of their lives is shown to be important.
A tangled affair by Anne C. Scardino.
Finally fed up with her husband's affairs, Clair Bondi makes the difficult decision to divorce her husband of twenty-five years, Vince Bondi. However, before she can confront him, Clair learns her husband has been murdered. Shocked but undeterred, Clair resolves to find her husband's killer. But as truths come to light, Clair uncovers Vince's secret life without her. Tumbling into a new life—one with new love—Clair must face her future with newfound resilience.
A good read with good characters. I liked the story. 4*.
I am not sure what to say about this book. I finished it but barely by just skimming the last few chapters. Although the story was full of what I normally love ; mystery, murder, affairs, and love it just was all laid out too perfectly. I don't even know how to describe it except everything was just given to me too easily and it all just worked out too perfectly.
Wow, this is a superbly well written book, you won’t want to miss reading this one!
I loved the storyline, the issues were sensitively explored and portrayed in a realistic caring manner.
The main character Claire has all of her emotions on display, she’d lived in a loveless marriage, constantly seeking Vince’s acceptance and affection. Vince has affairs and doesn’t seem to acknowledge Claire’s emotions at all, he also keeps secrets about their finances.
Claire’s happy place is her beloved beach house at Turks & Caicos, it’s here that she rebuilds her life, finds purpose and lets Leon into her life. Claire tries to save her daughters from the negativity, eventually they all come together to live their best lives and find happiness!
The writing style, relatable characters and also the feel of close family and friendships, make this very special book a fantastic summer read!
Sincere thanks to the publisher, NetGalley and the wonderfully talented Anne C Scardino for this fabulous book!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I loved the cover of this book but that's about it. Sadly, i couldnt even finish this book. The character and story didnt hold my interest.
The synopsis of this book initially really drew me, in but I found that the storyline fell short.
There were too many unbelievable twists and turns, and I didn’t like how the plot didn’t completely tie up at the end.
3/5 stars.
Thank you NetGalley and Amplify Publishing Group for the ARC.
I really enjoyed this fast-paced mystery of a strong woman, Clair Bondi, who learns that after twenty-five years of marriage, her husband is cheating on her, again. Before she can ask for a divorce, he is murdered. She has no idea of the depths of his deceit, but gradually learns that he has almost bankrupted them except for the money he has hidden. She tries to shield their daughters from his other life, but eventually all will come out as she works with the police, their company and the banks to help find the killer. Twists and turns abound, but they happen so fast that you aren’t kept in suspense for very long before the next revelation. I love a story about a smart woman who forges ahead despite the pain to work towards recovery and maybe a second chance at love? Loved it! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
I DNFed this book at 60% sadly. Having stopped at 60% I hope that shows how hard I really did try to finish this book in order to give it a full proper review but I just could not carry on.
I am 99% sure this is this authors debut novel and it shows. The synopsis sounded good but that is really where the goodness ended for me.
There was just a lot of short, basic and unnecessary sentences. This was all it was over and over again. It also had the most unsexy sex scene I have ever read and that was purely due to the writing. It was constantly and I did this and he did that and then he did this. There was no feeling, no atmosphere to the book at all and it felt so all over the show.
Read a lot like 'After' by Anna Todd to me, which given she has movies from her series now could be taken as a compliment but it is truly now a compliment.
Enjoyable fast paced mystery. Maybe a little predictable and I do wish some loose ends would have tied up but still enjoyed this read very much. Thank you publisher and netgalley for this arc in exchange of an honest review.
I really don’t know what to say about A Tangled Affair.
First of all, there was so much unbelievable things going on! There was quite a bit happening that never made much sense to me. I kept on reading in hopes of it getting better.
Secondly, that ending? Out of the blue? Really?
To sum it up, I found A Tangled Affair to be a meh read. Maybe it’s me not being in the mood for this genre. Others may find it quite entertaining and I encourage you to read this book. What is not a great read for me, may be a great read for you.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the chance to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
Do you really know your spouse? Clair thought she did and just when she is ready to tell him she wants a divorce he turns up dead. The trail she follows is full of twists and turns and makes her realize she never really knew him at all.
Definitely a good book when, friends, love, family and affairs are involved. The characters were well written about, a good quick read.
Thank you NetGalley, Anne C. Scardino and Amplify Publishing Group for the ARC of A Tangled Affair. This is my personal review.
This book had so many plots and subplots and twists and turns it never really came together for a story that made sense. It was an ok read but left way too many unanswered questions for me. I wanted the end to be a connection of what happened to why it happened and instead I got trip to the White House to get an award.
I finished but was left with a feeling of what did I just read and why did I read it.
I was lucky to receive an advance copy of this book from the NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinion. I can say I didn't love this nor hate it. I felt it was somewhat predictable however I still found it to be an entertaining fast-paced thriller.
A Tangled Affair, by Anne C. Scardino.
I was interested in this book when I read the description. But once I started it, I knew it wasn't for me. Not my style, not my type of retelling. I might say though, I read it up to the end and I found it pretty imaginative.
I wish the author good luck with other readers.
Thank you NetGalley for the chance of reading this book in exchange for an honest review
I enjoyed this book thoroughly. I love mysteries and the description grabbed me. I hope there is lots more from this author.
This book was ridiculous. It started off promising and the as the story progressed it just went completely off the rails. Plot twist after plot twist I found myself rolling my eyes because they were so unbelievable. It was like watching a Lifetime movie. I just wanted to throw it across the room.
Clair Bondi is done with trying to make her marriage work. She decides to immediately file for divorce from her husband Vince after catching him cheating yet again. Unfortunately, she would not get the chance because her husband was found fatally shot in his car.
It turns out Vince had secrets. Many secrets.
The fallout from Vince’s murder seems to be never ending. As Clair diggs through the rubble of her life, she discovers that the person she loved the most was light years away from the person she thought he was.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, Amplify Publishing Group and by #NetGalley. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
While somewhat predictable it was still an entertaining, enjoyable and fast-paced thriller.
This book was full of intrigue…a husband who was unfaithful and maybe not totally honest..employees who one can’t trust…friends who are helpful yet meddle…family…love…this book was sent to me by Netgalley for review electronically.a quick read…
This book had everything I love in a book...it had romance, mystery, murder and intrigue. So why was I so bored?
I just could not get into the story or get invested in the characters. I felt apathetic towards them.
The writing style felt a bit choppy to me, so maybe that is why I never really got into it.
If you like a mystery with a side of romance, you may really enjoy this book!
