I read and quite enjoyed the previous book in this series, featuring the same character in both but she takes centre stage in this one.
As with the previous book this too is in the 1960s and follows the exploits of a well-to-do young heiress who, having previously lived a life of freedom in London, latterly with friends featured in book one, she is expected to head to Switzerland to be in the care of her remaining family members until she comes of age. Finding herself in Paris she ends up becoming nanny / housekeeper / governess for young children in Provence and becoming entangled with, and eventually falling for, their father.
I realise it’s make believe and a work of fiction; however I found the story completely unbelievable, more so than the first book. Perhaps it’s because it was set in the ‘60s and things were different then, but on the whole it just had a ‘jolly hockey sticks’ feel.
Sadly, this book did not appeal to me this time. It has made me realise that I prefer books of this genre to be set in more current times as these are more believable (I do like historical / time slip novels though, so perhaps it’s just this book).. The premise was possible but the timing and the portrayal of the characters made it unbelievable and feel too old fashioned.

A lovely uplifting book a story of a young woman who travels to Paris en route to Switzerland and ends up applying for a job as a nanny to children she has never even met
The following day she finds out she isn’t even going to be staying in Paris but is to travel south to the French country and this man’s château where she meets his three children, and a housekeeper who walks out as they walk in. So she has to start of at quite a pace lighting the oven as the huge range is just too big and rustling up food from eggs and stale bread but Alexandra does and wins her first battle with these children
She has many more to overcome ex wives jealous work colleagues and self doubt as in the French culture nannies are no better than servants
But with hard work lots of love and determination this young woman turns everything around not on her own but with a little help
A beautiful book of love and memories and family

Another great book from Katie Fforde. Loved all the characters, some whom we have met in a previous title by this author. Beautifully written and easy to read

A loved that this story centred around Alexandra, a character from 'A Wedding in the Country', with the other characters making an appearance along the way. Having said that, you don't need to have read the previous book to read this.
A charming story, following Lexi as she takes a job in France as a nanny, desperate to avoid going to Switzerland to finishing school, which is what her relations want her to do.
A great selection of characters, including the family pets. It may be an unconventional family, but is it fun and full of love.
A charming story, a real page-turner, I had to keep reading!

I struggled to retain interest in this book halfway through it. It had a good start with some interesting characters. The further the story progressed, I liked the main character and love interest less and found the circumstances not believable.

A Wedding in Provence oozes romance and spells a time to chill out with a book, in the garden with a glass of wine.
It all begins in autumn, 1963 in Paris, where you meet Alexandra, who is only there for a day before heading to finishing school in Switzerland. There is an air of adventure and possibilities on a day that Alexandra has without her guardians deciding what or where she should go next. When reading about this, you can't help but feel a little excited for Alexandra, to have this time of freedom. She then comes across Donna, who isn't feeling her best. Alexandra's personality then starts to really reveal itself and it is easy to warm to her.
The book is a rather fun and relaxed read as Donna (who is married to Bob), and Alexandra get to know each other. There's a bit of humour, perhaps also in places it isn't meant to be, such as some gorgeous guy having a job, just as Alexandra doesn't want to leave France. As far-fetched as that sounds, it really just adds to the entertainment and pure escapism that continues to shine through and that is just part of the catalyst of what unfolds, making for an enjoyable read and where more of the story unfolds, as she arrives at a chateau and meets the family living there, to start work with them, taking care of the children. It isn't all plain-sailing, plus they need educating. It's interesting reading about different schools and the opinions of adults with what to choose for their children.
Amongst her work and the grandeur of the chateau is also food galore that all seem to jump off the page and there's romance brewing between the count and Alexandra.

Got to give 5 stars to Katie again!! Such an uplifting story of love, hope, and resourcefulness!!
We find ourselves catching up with Alexandra in another episode of her life!! She ends up in Provence, working for a 'Compte' looking after his children as a nanny, but that wasn't what was supposed to happen, but it did, and that's where I'll leave it, otherwise it gives the story away!!
Such a brilliant follow on to Alexandra's story!!
I loved it!!

Oh my goodness I loved this! I actually think this may be the first Katie Fforde book I've read and I can't wait to read her back catalogue. So many lovely characters from so many different backgrounds and ways of life. I found it interesting to get to know the personalities and characteristics of the characters. Sweet Alexander who doesn't let the fact she in an heiress change her true beliefs and how she warms to the children she is looking after is just so sweet. Especially her bond with Stephie and the fact that she isn't much older that Felicite, every credit to her. Teenage girls aren't easy as I know myself :) I also do love a good bit of romance so the blossoming relationship with Antoine was just lovely. And I need David to come and cook for me :)

Ah, a new book by Katie Fforde…utter bliss! As always, a pure delight, a little mushy in places (we all need a bit of that these days) however I book I devoured in 2 days that left me feeling uplifted, joyous, longing to go to Paris and wondering if I could make a croquembouche. Happy days!
Thank you so very much to the author, publishers and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review

I enjoyed this book and it was easy to read. I did find it a bit to predictable towards the end and a bit of a stretch with the inheritance, but I still enjoyed reading this.

A very whimsical romance set in a French Chateau. An easy read, in which Lexi blags herself a nanny job to escape being sent to Finshing School falls in love woth the absent father and gets her happy ending.

I love these kinds of books so much. This is did not disappoint. Easy and quick to read, with good pace and fabulous characters.

A really great story, charming, atmospheric, great characters. Filled me with warmth and spirit. Well written and flowed nicely, was romantic and funny, charming and full of fun. A great read, i really enjoyed it.

There is nothing NOT to love about this book; beautiful setting, enjoyable characters, great story! I loved it, Take me to Provence to fall in love!
Alexandra finds herself in Provence looking after a Comte's three children, she enlists the help of her two friends, to help teach them maths and Shakespeare, as well as assisting with the running of the chateau.
This is a funny laugh out loud at times feel good story, helped along by a very handsome employer, the children's father. Alex is young, free and single - what happens next????
A lovely romance, you'll be swept along with the characters and hoping for a fairy-tale ending!

It was so nice to be catching up with Alexandra and finding out what she has been up to and what she is planning on doing next.
In this book Alexandra has moved from London and is having a lovely time in Paris, before going to finishing school in Switzerland. Or at least that's the plan. But one chance encounter with a lady that she helps, whose shopping has spilled all over the road, and subsequently helps to cook a meal for, her dinner party guests. Leads Alexandra to become a nanny to three children in Provence. Here she will learn many life lessons and perhaps even find love.
Another gorgeously written, utterly feel good, joyful book. Which is what we all desperately need at these times. Loved it.

Really enjoyed this book, this is the second one I have read of Katie Fford and enjoyed that it lead on from A wedding in the Country. I definitely still connected with the previous characters and with the new characters. Strong female friendships was amazing

Thank you @netgalley for sending me a copy for my honest review.
This was my first Katie Fforde book and it won't be my last.
At the start of this book I did find it a bit slow, but thay doesn't mean I couldn't get into it. I found it got better about a 1/4 of the way in.
All the characters were fab especially little Stephie. I liked how Alexandra could relate with the kids in particular Felicite, as she had nannies growing up.
I could definitely picture the chateau and the senary that it's set in which I love when you can do this with books.
Definitely reccomend
Rating 3.5⭐

Another good one from Katie Fforde! This was set in 1960s Provence and Fforde uses lots of detail to transport the reader to the lavender filled fields of France during this time. It follows the story of Alexandra who is hired to be a nanny to the children of a rich Compte called Antoine. If you liked the Sound of Music then this should be a story for you. I really liked the feisty character of Alexandra although thought the ex-wife and the business partner were rather a caricature of snobby French (and English) women!
A solid 4/5.

I really enjoy this story, it really set the atmosphere of Provence and it was a great romance storyline (well several).

Definitely true to Katie Fforde's style. This was an easy to read tale which absorbs you into a different place for a few hours. A lovely novel.
