The Rose Queen is such a heart-warming story
I am never disappointed reading this authors work .
You feel like you are pulled into been there with all the characters.
A beautiful family saga.
With a ending to leave readers very content.
Wow I will most certainly recommend this book to fellow readers.
Cadi and Poppy leave their home town in Wales to Liverpool to sign up as WW2 is breaking out , Cadi wants more from life than being married and chained to the kitchen sink.
The story follows the girls as they navigate the big city, thinking it’s going to be easy & fun we follow their adventures along the way,
This is my first book by Katie Flynn, I think I was expecting something different, a bit grittier in parts I guess, it was nice… even the events such as the bombing were written lightly. It was a pleasurable book however I don’t think I would read anything by this author again, that’s just my personal opinion.. Katie Flynn is a very popular author with a huge fan base.
Thanks to netgalley & the publisher for a digital ARC in return for an honest review
A really good read.I always enjoy Katie Flynn books and this one was no exception. It follows two young girls Cadi and Poppy who live in a small village in Wales and decide to go to Liverpool for a more exciting life hoping to join up as the war is just beginning. Things don't go as planned and they get into many scrapes and as we follow their journey to where they eventually start working at a pub where they find life very different but much more exciting .Some great characters and friendships are formed and families finally come together again
I requested this book in honour of my Nan as she is one of her favourite writers and I actually really enjoyed it! It is not my usual go to but I am proud to say I will be buying it for my Nan when it comes out as I know she will love it too! Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this title early!
A wonderful read. Especially if your into family sagas. Especially ones set in wartime.
Such a easy read
Would recommend
An interesting look at the world in wartime, through the eyes of two young ladies, Poppy and Cadi both of whom are ready to find their way in the worls.. In all honesty it wasnt my sort of book, but I appreciated the amount of research that had gone into the background of the story.
thanks to NetGalley for a review copy.
I absolutely loved this book. Two young friends are deciding their futures at the gala. Cadi, the more out spoken one thinks her and Poppy should go off into the world and away from the structure of family life in a small village with no prospects other than to marry and be poor.
With war looming the think they can join up and live a rosy life, going to dances, wear makeup and have a blast. A truly wonderful coming of age drama as they discover what they thought they wanted isn't always how things turn out. Very uplifting and such an enjoyable read.
I am a hugh fan of Katie Flynn. Ive probably got more of her books than any other author of this genre. When I heard she had died I didnt think there would be anymore books. Her amazing daughter now writes under her mothers pen name and she has done her mum proud.
Loved this book, if your into family sagas and ww11 stories, then this is for you. The book is easy to read and the two girls who dream of having an adventure are a delight to get to know. I have always been a fan of Katie Flynn and if you read this you will be come a fan too.
If you like writers like Pam Howes, Lyn Andrew’s and Rosie Clarke then you will love this too
Devoured this book in one sitting !
Great read following two welsh lasses in Liverpool in ww2.
