One of the funniest books that I have read in the recent times. It was so hilarious that you might have a tear or two coming out. Lucy became my favourite protagonist , fell in love with her quirks. How everything is written in such a lucid manner is what makes this books beautiful. On the whole the book , premise and the characters , especially the sisters ( Love them).
Would definitely recommend it to the Sophie kinsella fans , as such as I love the can you keep a secret , it gave me similar feels and some more. Can't miss if humour is your go to genre with a some romance element.

Am I Allergic to Men? had me giggling all throughout this book. It was a fun lighthearted read and just what I needed after reading some heavier books. The family dynamic was great and believable. I related to them a lot, our family has its own silly banter and this book made me think of them, I was expecting to read a romance book, but that's not what I got, and I'm okay with it. I was disappointed in how this turned out. If you're looking for something lighthearted and silly I think you should check it out! I enjoyed it, quick, easy and perfect!
Kristen strikes again with another great book, I can't fault any of her books I enjoy them so much 😍 Lucy has always been such a big character in the previous books. I could always see me in her 😂 foul language, inappropriate jokes and overall quite funny if I do say so myself 😂😂
The Callaghan family are the best. A close knit family with such different personalities and always have each other's backs. Family is a big part of this book and how they all stick by Lucy and support her is amazing, exactly what she needs through her tough time ❤️ The book is packed with humour, really easy to read and full of inappropriate comments 😂😂
Some people would say parts of the book are farfetched but I don't think so 😂 I love it and It works 😂
If you don't then please follow @kristenbaileywrites on Instagram. She is so funny and her real humour shows in all her books. If you haven't yet had a chance to read about any of the Callaghan sister's yet, get on it. You won't be disappointed. 😀
Lucy is living her best life! But when she gets into a serious accident she must connect with people to find her identity. But the people who love her the most will be the ones to stand by her and help her to fill in the blanks.
What an incredible read! Definitely not the narrative I expected, completely did not see this coming.
The beginning I found hilarious, laugh-out-loud crying funny. However, when the major change happens in the novel the tone does also. But this isn't a bad thing, the tone has to change with the narrative, but Bailey gives us cheeky little one-liners to remind us of the character we started with, and this only made the reader more invested with the characters.
The thing I loved about this novel is the strong female leads! All of them; from Lucy herself to her sisters, nieces, friends and her mum!
I will be keeping my eyes open for this author's other novels and very much look forward to reading them.
Am I Allergic to Men by Kristen Bailey is the 5th book in the Callahan Sisters series. An enjoyable read. So many laugh out loud moments and such a beautiful camaraderie between Lucy and her sisters. It was really good to see a portrayal of someone my age who just wants to live their life on their own terms, with the added viewpoint of how her teenage mind perceives this life. I haven’t read any of the previous sisters books and now I want to go back and do that!
This plotline was so original and unique it really had me hooked from the beginning. I liked the strength and determination of the main character, and the relationships and life that was built around her. It was so applicable to an aspect of everyone's life. I think the writing style of the book was really good, the author kept you interested, without doing that thing where people go into too much detail on every step.
Really easy and enjoyable reading, I really like the characters, I didn't want to stop, very lovely book 📚
When I first saw this book and cover/title I was excited, even more so when reading the blurb but sadly it just didn't seem to work for me. I wasn't able to keep myself entertained by the story and the characters just seemed to bore me - even Lucy with her memory loss, just feels like that spark was missing.
I feel like it took me forever to read this short book because I could just not force myself to pick it back up.
Honestly - this book has nothing to do with the title. It's really just clickbait. Lucy gets in accident, can't remember the last 10 years of her life, and relies on her sisters and past relationships in her life to help her put the pieces back together. While her sisters educate her on her 10-year blind spot, she also discovers she identified as bisexual. So really, the "Am I Allergic to Men?" title doesn't even fit. It also kind of feels like bi-erasure.
As for Lucy herself, she's not that likable. I suppose that was kind of the point - that she's a mess who kind of thrives off of being a mess - but I kind of want to be rooting for a person that's lost their memory and I just couldn't root for her either way. I do like how much she loved her sisters and I like that there's a character out there who is single and happy that way, but I just didn't like Lucy herself.
Also, this book seemed to have no point. Lucy gets hit by a bus, loses her memory, tries piecing it together.... for what? I guess that sounds like I'm being reductive since any person who lost their memory would try to get it back, but this book seemed to have no purpose for it. She wasn't on a journey of self discovery, she wasn't trying to crack a big mystery (there's a "mystery" in here with a name and a date, but it's completely anti-climactic), and there are really no obstacles in her path to keep her from being who she already is. Then she gets her memory back and.... nothing. Doesn't make a difference.
Nope, can't say I was a fan of this one.
I love the Callaghan sisters!! I’m not much of a series reader but this family is so funny and loving it’s hard not to fall in love with them all!
I loved Lucy’s story! And I loved how her family stuck by her side to try and help her gain her memory back.
Lucy’s character is so raw and adventurous. I think we all need a “Lucy” in our lives!!
This book surprised me! From the cover, title and blurb, I was expecting a revoltingly cheesy rom-com. Instead, I found myself enjoying a funny and honest story about a girl who wouldn't be tamed, her heartwarming love for her sisters and the knickers department at M&S. There were definitely a few laugh-out-loud moments in there, and I would recommend to anyone who doesn't mind a main character who is often inappropriately explicit.
Lucy wakes up after being hit by a bus with absolutely no memory of the past 10 years. With the help of her sisters she embarks on a journey to find herself again with varying results.
This book made me laugh and smile. I particularly enjoyed the dynamic between the sisters. Another bonus was the lack of focus on Lucy needing to ‘settle down’ and find a serious relationship- this was refreshing!
DNF .5⭐️
I really wanted to like this book. The cover and the description initially drew me in, but the description failed to mention this was a series. I was completely lost while reading and just could not get into this book.
The main character was obnoxious and I personally did not like her. I am not sure if I would have read the other books in the series, if I would have been invested in her story. The main events described in the description of this book do not occur until very far into this book. I was disinterested and could not get into it.
I wish I could have finished this book and seen if it could have redeemed itself, but I was completely confused. Maybe in the near future I might start from scratch and read the whole series. The other sisters in this series I was more interested in and I liked a little more than this main character.
After being hit by a bus, Lucy Victoria Callaghan (dressed as none other than Elsa), wakes up from her coma with a mind and memory on rewind. What follows is rightly described as a ‘giant sleepover’ of massive catching up and happy tears back at the house where she grew up with her four elder sisters.
I love it when a book comes through with its promise of being ‘a completely laugh-out-loud and addictive page-turner’. The relationships between the characters come across very well and I could appreciate that even if I just casually directly read the fifth book in a series (as one does). Judging by the wit, banter and humour in this one, I’m guessing the earlier books in the Callaghan Sisters series must be just as enjoyable and (extremely) honest.
While the comedy is definitely good, the story in itself has a lot of heart too. The love of a family that sticks together despite everything, the crazy and amazing family we go out in the world and find for ourselves in our friends, all of it is very well depicted. This one released earlier this month and I hope it’s getting the love it deserves. I received a complimentary copy of this book from @netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Unfortunately I could get into this book. Premise seemed good, but then as the story moved along, I found it very easy to put down. I DNF it after about a week (my usual reading time is 2-3 days),
Thankyou for giving me the chance to read in advance. So funny and couldn’t put it down. Definitely worth a read if you want something easy
Such a strong female lead! I
Loved her. I wish there was more romance since it was very different than I expected but I liked it. She was such a bad ass and my favorite sister despite not reading the other books.
love the siblings dynamic in this book. the main character, Lucy. she’s a great character for me love her so much very feisty and strong. the plot was okay i guess not bad. gave this 3 stars bcs there’s something that i couldn’t connect with this book. but i did enjoyed this book so much.
This book didn't really capture my interest that well. Perhaps the humor just didn't work for me, but I just found that I wasn't that invested into the plot. I thought the premise of Lucy losing her memory was interesting, but then started to lose interest as the book went on. Unfortunately, I had to "DNF" it.
Firstly, the blurb is a bit misleading as I didn’t really see this as a romance book at all. It was more of a self discovery.
Lucy has lost half her memory. She wakes up in a hospital bed, thinking she’s 17. She’s forgotten all of the last 10 years and now she wants to remember everything
So with her sisters she goes on a journey through the past, hoping to jog her memories. Part of this does include meeting her exes but only so they can fill her gaps in.
This book was so funny. It wasn’t particularly deep at times and omg the cussing 😂
But I loved the sisters relationship and how they helped each other out. I didn’t know that there was a book for each sister but now I’m definitely going to read them!
