A really interesting look into all the good that Amazon has delivered in terms of research and development that will feed down into other companies. A very rose tinted account that seemed to lack nuance and some points lacked evidence but overall a refreshing look.
Thanks NetGalley for the Arc!
Very interesting book on one of the top retailers, I would recommend people to read this.

Amazon is arguably the company that has fundamentally changed all our lives. Be it having a product delivered in under two hours from ordering, producing blockbuster award-winning TV/films, to owning and running the vast majority of infrastructure the Internet we know it runs on.
This in-depth look at Amazon explores why it is slowly moving into brick and mortar stores after making it essential that all other retailers go against the tide and increase their presence online.
I have read quite a few books on Amazon over the last 12 months, with this being the most recent and up to date, referring to the Covid-19 pandemic and how it benefited Amazon's flywheel.
The only drawback was that it did feel a bit repetitive; however, it was a worthwhile read nonetheless.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher Kogan Page for an advance reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
It's ironic that in the latest news about Amazon closing their brick and mortal bookstores to open retail spaces that will offer a whole lot more like clothes, makeup, etc. In addition, the take over of Whole Foods and opening their own grocery store "go in and shop and when you place an item in the cart., you are good to go because they already have your debit/credit card in the system". Am I surprised, especially since I'm a bookseller, by how this company has literally taken over the world, not in the least. I have watch the rise of Amazon and have spoken to so many people to please not use them and support the stores in your city. I guess they though until I was crazy until the pandemic showed up and no one had a choice but to shop on Amazon. One chapter states that our shoppers shop on autopilot and are addicted to Prime. They don't bother to research better deals just do what's easy and that is what makes Amazon so massive in the retail e=commerce. They know many humans don't want to think too much. It may hurt their brains. I would suggest anyone in business read this to understand how the real BIG BOY (Bezos) took over the world. Good insight and very, very scary. Think of the movie Wall-e, and you may get my gist.
Fascinating book about the retail giant, their strategies and now updated with the impact of the pandemic on their customer service and strategies, I recommend this book for anyone with an interest in retailing, marketing, business start ups, ecommerce, or organisational performance and management - great book.
