"Investing Explained" by Matthew Partridge is a comprehensive and accessible guide that provides valuable insights into the world of investing. The book covers a wide range of investment topics, including stocks, bonds, mutual funds, real estate, commodities, and more. Partridge starts by explaining the fundamental principles of investing and the importance of setting investment goals. He then delves into different investment strategies and approaches, highlighting the pros and cons of each.
One of the strengths of the book is Partridge's ability to explain complex financial concepts in a clear and concise manner. He uses simple language and avoids jargon, ensuring that readers can grasp the concepts without feeling overwhelmed. This makes the book particularly suitable for individuals who are new to investing or have limited knowledge of the subject.
Additionally, "Investing Explained" emphasizes the importance of research and due diligence. Partridge encourages readers to conduct their own analysis and make informed investment decisions rather than relying solely on others' recommendations. He provides guidance on how to evaluate stocks, read financial statements, and understand key financial ratios.
While the book offers a wealth of information, some readers may find that certain sections lack depth or require further exploration. However, as an introductory guide, "Investing Explained" does an excellent job of laying a solid foundation and equipping readers with the essential knowledge needed to navigate the investment landscape.
Overall, "Investing Explained" by Matthew Partridge is a valuable resource for individuals looking to understand the basics of investing. It provides clear explanations, practical advice, and empowers readers to make informed investment decisions. Whether you're a novice or seeking to expand your investment knowledge, this book serves as a valuable starting point on your investing journey.

#BookReview: Investing Explained by Matthew Partridge
I have been wanting to learn more about investing. With the current market conditions as it is, it became harder to know the best way to start. This book was easy to understand and started off with the basics of investing. I liked the different topics stated as questions. This is a good one to read and it's pretty comprehensive. It might not be perfect but it's a perfect start to learn about investing. I will be rereading this soon.
Thank you #netgalley and the publisher for the complimentary copy. All opinions expressed are my own.

Investing Explained is an excellent book to introduce you to the world of investing. I have read other books like Shares Made Easy, but this book taught me so much more. It will be helpful even for those who have already started investing in the stock market and in other assets.
The author uses a Q&A format, which I thought would become boring, but proved to be a winning idea as many of the questions that came up were questions that I had already been wondering. He also refers to literature and film to make certain points which makes the text more entertaining. Part of me wishes there were perhaps some examples of company data and share price charts in some of the answers, but another part of me thinks it possibly helped that I wasn't getting bogged down with too many details.
I would definitely be recommending this book.
Lovely book for a starter in investing. It provides good explanation and advice of investment options as well as a good bunch of case studies to understand some investment situations. The book is easy to follow and comprehend even if you are new to investing in general. It can support some ideas and explain what could be a good option in your situation. Thinking of investing is a strategy and you have a good chance to learn from this book.
Simple, easy to read guide in a Q&A setup that focuses primarily on stock investments (and dabbles slightly in bonds, property and cryptocurrency) with a big focus on behavioural psychology and highlighting the common pitfalls surrounding stock investments but falls short on equipping readers with the how-to on building an investment portfolio that that is diversified and meets readers objectives and level of risk.
That being said, I still had some valuable takeaways and I am now:
- Reinvesting my dividends instead of saving income
- Building my portfolio to include more index funds, ETFs and government bonds
- Understanding that I need value, growth and income stocks to make my portfolio diversified
- Starting to invest abroad, after all US is half of the world shares, and Australia only represents 2.5% of the global market
