Vegara's Pablo Picasso adds this talented artist to the Little People, Big Dreams series. Raised in an artistic, art positive household, Picasso had a great deal of encouragement towards art. He did his first painting at age 9! Truly a prodigy, Picasso's style would eventually influence not only future art styles, but in music and writing as well.
At the end is a section with more detailed information on life, suitable for older readers. Inspirational and educational both, this entire series is great, and full of delightful art to engage younger audiences!
WoW! Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara books must be one of the best little books to purchase for children, these are the best-selling series of books and educational games that explore the lives of outstanding people, from designers and artists to scientists and activists. All of them achieved incredible things, yet each began life as a child with a dream.
So, this latest book is about Pablo Picassoby Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara and is just brilliant throughout.
This enchanting book features stylish and quirky illustrations and extra facts at the back, including a biographical timeline with historical photos and a detailed profile of the writer's life.
It's one book, you should definitely buy for your little readers so they can learn about this wonderful artist.
I am so glad these books are being published and I highly recommend all of these books
Many thanks to Quarto’s Frances Lincoln Children’s Books and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Big Thank you to netgalley and the Quarto Publishing Group for a free copy for an honest opinion
All these books are great. Not only are they educational, the colours in the stories reflect the person written about.
The information in the books are just enough to not be too much for a little people to learn.
We are big fans of big people little dreams books in our house. We were absolutely delighted to see that the new book about Pablo Picasso was available on NetGalley. My 9 year old is a massive fan of art and absolutely lapped this book up. We will be purchasing a hard copy to add to our collection.
Another awesome book in this collection and the story and art of Pablo Picasso was fascinating and so vivid.
My daughter loved this book and learnt from it in a fun way too!
An outstanding book which brings to life the works and life of Picasso in a colourful and accessible way for children.
The images are eyecatching and child friendly with short sharp pieces of information which are informative without being overwhelming. Will definitely introduce this to compliment the year 6 Pablo Picasso artist study.
I really enjoyed this little children's book, which is all about Pablo Picasso the artist, and what his life was like growing up. I really loved the artwork in the book, which is so full of colour, and little details and patterns. Pablo was inspirational in his lifetime, and his artwork and its energy, lives on, to inspire many more artists along the way.
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
What a beautiful way to bring to Picassos life In to a children's book. I absolutely loved the way the story was told and the beautiful colourful images being life and entertainment into the book. An absolutely outstanding book.
I knew very little about Picasso before reading this and I enjoyed learning about the painter who created cubism.
These biographies are age appropriate; inspiring and interesting, but not overwhelming. They have bright, beautiful illustrations, striking covers, and look great on a shelf together. I love the diversity of the people featured in this series. Artists, athletes, authors, activists, actors, explorers, entertainers, musicians and scientists.
Thank you NetGalley and Frances Lincoln Children's Books for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
This Little People Big Dreams book tells Picasso's life story. I very much enjoyed the beautiful illustrations. However, the story seemed very straightforward and somehow missing something. I had expected more of a story.
When I saw that a book on Pablo Picasso will be added to the Little People Big Dreams series, I jumped at the chance to get an early look at this title.
We loved the vibrant illustrations throughout the book, and how the spread on Picasso's blue period stood out in contrast. The book emphasises how Picasso liked to experiment with different styles, materials and techniques and it's an invitation for children to engage with art and explore their own creativity. The book also reminded us that 'little Pablo never stopped trying to paint like a child. Because all children are artists'.
It's the perfect invitation for little ones to get creative, and another stunning addition to this hugely popular series. Thanks to NetGalley and Frances Lincoln Children's Books for giving me access to an eARC in exchange for a review.
Yet another beautiful edition of the little artists books. I love this collection and find them aimed just right at capturing children’s attention and imagination while also passing on important information.
This is an ideal first introduction to Picasso and his work.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me read an advance copy of this book in exchange for my feedback.
Another impressive addition to the ‘Little People, Big Dreams’ series, this beautifully illustrated book for children summarises the life of Pablo Picasso from being a talented artist as a young child to his experimentation with art and his creation of the cubist style of painting.as an adult. I like all the books in this lovely series, but I particularly like the illustrations in this one. Thank you to the author, Net Galley and Quarto Publishing for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Another classic biography by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. This book included key facts about Picasso’s life as expected from the Little People Big Dreams range. However the best parts of the book were the illustrations and vibrant colours which were in keeping with Picasso’s art. Highly recommended.
My thanks to Quarto Group - Francis Lincoln Children’s Books for a temporary digital edition via NetGalley of ‘Pablo Picasso’, written by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara and illustrated by Teresa Bellón in exchange for an honest review.
This is No 74 in the publishers highly acclaimed ‘Little People, BIG DREAMS’ series of mini-biographies for young readers, aged 4-7.
Distilling Picasso’s long, productive life into this accessible little picture book was certainly an achievement by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. I love her work and applaud her continuing vision to introduce young readers to the lives of people who have excelled across various disciplines, including artists, musicians, writers, political figures and more.
Teresa Bellón’s illustrations were extremely detailed and bursting with colour and energy. Picasso is among my favourite artists and this proved a visual treat.
Each of the Little People, BIG DREAMS books are age appropriate in terms of their biographical details, stressing the subject’s early years. Here, Picasso’s playful, child-like style is highlighted as well as a reminder that ‘all children are artists’…
The book is rounded out with a timeline accompanied by photographs and a suggestion for further reading at an older level.
I love these books and have no hesitation in recommending them to parents, educators, and librarians. They are an excellent way to inspire children as well as to introduce them to nonfiction.
Having studied Picasso's work at university, I think this is a great intro to the artist for children. It of course simplifies his journey, his many phases and styles, and the influence he had on the art world - but that's to be expected considering the audience! It would be great to see some actual examples of Picasso's creations in the book, but I understand the copyright permissions might be more trouble than they're worth
Another great book in the series..... And again teaching me lots of facts that I never knew about this Artist.
Honestly can't fault these books at all - I think they are great for children and for adults.
And again! Adorable, absolutely, I loved it even more than the Nelson Mandela one. The art style is perfect and I loved the colors and again the simple story telling, perfect for children.
Although most of us have heard of Picasso how many of us actually know much about him? Honestly i didn’t even know his first name. This book, and the whole collection, may be aimed at children but I actually really enjoy them and think most would too. I love the final sentence of this one especially and the message spoken to the kids who’ll read it; “because all children are artists we just need to keep believing it once we grow up”. Just wonderful. I may start gifting them to future friends and families children. Also a huge congrats and thankyou to the illustrator, Teresa Bellón, for the always gorgeous illustrations.
Thankyou so much to Netgalley and Frances Lincolns Children's Books for letting me read this ARC.
Pablo Picasso is a wonderful addition to the Little People, Big Dreams series. It gives children an insight to one of the world's most influential artists. But I also feel these are a great simple introduction for adults as well. The illustrations in these books are always stunning and fit the person's personality perfectly and this one is no exception. The bright, vibrant, cubism style illustrations fit so well and relate to well to Picasso's own artwork.
I really enjoy reading these myself, I find them facianating, interesting and love learning new things about people who have influences today's art, media and society.
They are perfect for all ages and would make excellent gifts.
