Another fabulous read from Sarah Morgan.
Joanna was part of a high profile marriage until their divorce and her world changes when her ex husband is killed in a car accident and leaves behind a young pregnant girl. Joanna decides for both of them to return to the town she grew up in where it is quiet and they can hopefully go undetected.
This book has a little bit of everything.. relationships, love, suspense and offers pure escapism which Sarah Morgan is well known for.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in return for an honest review. It was an absolute pleasure.
Sarah Margan never fails!
She writes a good story line with believable characters.
Joanna has to move back to her childhood hometown, but tries to stay hidden because of the circumstances. Gradually she founds herself mixing back into the community and old friendships rekindled.
Thank you netgalley
Another fantastic read from Sarah Morgan. When Joanna's ex husband a famous chef, is killed in a car accident there are lots of rumours about what happened and she just wants to get away from it all for a while so she decides to go back to where she lived as a child and still owns a property there. As she meets her old friends who she hasn't seen or kept in touch with for two decades there are lots of issues she has to face up to as well as dealing with the fallout from the accident. I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend it
This is a book that is told through the point of view of 3 different women and starts with the death of celebrity Chef, Cliff Whitman, who dies in a car crash. Joanna Whitman is now divorced from Cliff, Ashley, who is in the car when Cliff dies and Mel, who was friends with Joanna but haven't kept in touch.
Its a story of unlikely friendships, family, love and a community spirit that you could feel just while you were reading it, this is a perfect book to be sat by the beach ready.
Thank you to Sarah Morgan, Netgalley and HQ for the eArc in exchange for an honest review
A story of two very different women thrown together through extraordinary circumstances who need to face their past and figure out their future.
Cliff Whitman is a celebrity Chef, one of the most famous men in Hollywood. Ashley Blake is in the car with him when he loses control and they plunge over a mountain killing him and leaving Ashley seriously injured.
Joanna Whitman is Cliff’s ex-wife. She knows the media storm that is about to engulf Ashley and decides to protect her.
Joanna takes Ashley to the small community of Silver Point, the place where she grew up. It’s quiet and out of the way and, as long as the media don’t find out, it's the perfect place for them to come to terms with what has happened to them and work out where they go from here.
This is moving, heartwarming, romantic all wrapped up in one story. The perfect summer escape.
Another really wonderful book from best selling author Sarah Morgan.
In this book we meet two amazing women Joanna and Ashley. Both of these women are remarkable and you really want the best for each of them.
Cliff Whitman has died. He has left behind an ex wife Joanna Whitman. But their marriage wasn't everything that the media likes to claim it was. It was actually really controlling and left Joanna hiding away in her apartment away from the outside world and not interested in anything or anyone. But one day Ashley arrives. She was the last person to see Cliff alive as she was in the car when it was went plummeting over the edge of a cliff. She is pregnant but why was she in his car?
Joanna knows that she needs to save this women from the hurtful spotlight of the media. So she takes Ashley back to her home town and where her beach house is. Together they form a wonderful friendship.
This book is really lovely. Both Joanna and Ashley challenge each other, but also bring out the best in each other. It is a wonderful story about love, friendship, growth, secrets being aired, life moving forward, forgiveness and connections. It's another wonderfully written and highly enjoyable book by best selling author Sarah Morgan. Wonderful.
I am a long term Sarah Morgan fan and this book was excellent. The high level of storytelling I have come to expect from her. This book has multiple POVs and you want to know more about every single one of them, it's just a such an interesting story.
I love a Sarah Morgan book! This one is from the POV of women, Joanna (ex wife of a celebrity womanising chef Cliff), Mel ( her best friend from the past who she hasn’t stayed in touch with) and Ashley (the young lady who was with Cliff when there was a car accident). Slowly we learn why Joanna stayed away from her home town when she goes back to escape the publicity and takes Ashley with her. All is not what it seems. The characters develop through the story and everything makes sense by the end. The story is about second chances, trust and friendship and has a real feel good ending. Perfect reading for the summer.
Another classic chick lit, feel good comfort read from Sarah Morgan!
This book is written from the point of view of Joanna, who learns that her celebrity chef ex-husband has driven off a cliff with another woman in the car - a pregnant woman at that! The maelstrom of media that surrounds the incident propels her back into the past to answer some painful problems which she has kept at bay for the last 20 years. The story focuses on how old friends know us best and how to reframe the memories of the past so that they don't stop us from living our best lives in the present.
I thought the portrayal of female friendship was authentic and heart-warming, if a little repetitive in places, especially with Joanna's young friend. With Sarah Morgan, it's like sitting down for a good gossip with an old friend - sure you might have heard some of their stories before but the telling of them always brings a smile to your face.
Many thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for an advanced release copy in exchange for an honest review.
A lovely feel good story, a little predictable at times but who cares. A perfect holiday read.
Thank you to NetGalley and HQ for the advance copy of this book.
Joanne is once again launched into the spotlight following a tragic event involving her ex husband, celebrity chef Clive.
She immediately recognises the young woman embroiled in the tragedy and the two strike up an unlikely friendship.
Twenty years after leaving her hometown Joanne returns with the intention of keeping her head down and laying low but the past finds its way back to her.
A great read full of charming characters and an idyllic setting.
When Joanna's ex husband dies in a car crash she wonders why there is a young woman in the car with him.
Joanna is besieged by the press as her ex was a famous chef. So under the cover of darkness she returns home to Silver Point and Otters Nest.
Here she faces up to her past with old friends and specifically Nate her then boyfriend.
Can they move on and reconnect?
I love Sarah's writing style. It's so easy to get lost in the lives of the characters she creates. Otters Nest sounds a dream house to live in. Right on the ocean and secluded. What's not to love.
Thanks to Netgalley and HQ for the ARC in return for an honest review.
`` She slid into his car, hoping this wasn't a mistake '' but Ashley could never have foreseen the outcome & how it would not only change her life , but his wife Joanna Whitman's & all the friends she had left behind at Silver Point , when Joanna eventually takes Ashely to her former home there at Otter's Nest .
This story is about trusting those who truly have your back no matter what & learning to give the Press the opposite of what they think they want in order to get a story .#NetGalley , #GoodReads, #FB, #Instagram , Amazon.co.uk , #<img src="https://www.netgalley.com/badge/358a5cecda71b11036ec19d9f7bf5c96d13e2c55" width="80" height="80" alt="100 Book Reviews" title="100 Book Reviews"/>, #<img src="https://www.netgalley.com/badge/ef856e6ce35e6d2d729539aa1808a5fb4326a415" width="80" height="80" alt="Reviews Published" title="Reviews Published"/>, #<img src="https://www.netgalley.com/badge/aa60c7e77cc330186f26ea1f647542df8af8326a" width="80" height="80" alt="Professional Reader" title="Professional Reader"/>
Another lovely read from Sarah Morgan, female friendships, second chances and the sense of home make this a delightful easy read perfect for a summer holiday read!
Joanna learns that her famous celebrity chef ex husband has tragically died in a car crash and although they have been divorced for a while she still lives in the glare of publicity and craves anonymity, on learning that a young pregnant girl was saved from the car crash Joanna sets in motion a plan to save Ashley the young girl found in the car as she knows exactly who she is and the link she had to her ex husband!
Escaping to her childhood town and the house left to her by her father,Joanna and Ashley learn from each other and in doing so confront many issues with surprisingly Ashley being the stronger one of the two!
Joanna is immediately welcomed home by the locals and makes her peace with her old best friend Mel and her old boyfriend Nate and realises that this new life is the one for her, whilst Ashley blossoms into pregnancy making friends and putting into practice some of her own advice leading to a lovely happy ending for both of them!
Thank you netgalley for this early read.
Another great Sarah Morgan novel. There are a great bunch of characters in this and it was a pure joy to read.
Beach Summer House is another brilliant Sarah Morgan book!
I was glad to see a 40-year-old main character as most books feature younger people, I need more relatable characters.
Also, it was nice to explore these types of personal relationships in a different way than in her previous books, as this one has celebrities.
The way the characters grow was nice to see. Very uplifting, I enjoyed it a lot!
Beach House Summer is an engrossing feel-good read which I was able to read within a day.
Told from the perspectives of three women, the story is about friendship, trust, camaraderie, forgiveness and new beginnings.
After Joanna Whitman's famous chef ex-husband Cliff dies in a car crash; Joanna takes the girl who was with him at the time of the crash under her wing. Ashley is young and is also pregnant. Together they dodge the press and head out to Joanna's beach house located in her picturesque hometown of Silver Point, a town that she hasn't been back to since she left twenty years ago. Despite not knowing each other previously, both women have a lot in common - both are lonely lost souls. They bond and become each other's confidante.
Being back in Silver Point not only brings back memories, but also people from Joanna's past.
This is the first Sarah Morgan book that I've read. As much as I did enjoy this book, I did find that that dialogues were too lengthy and drawn out. The characters were likeable and the author was able to bring out a sense of acceptance and community spirit really well.
When celebrity chef Cliff Whitman is killed in a car crash, his ex-wife Joanna does not know whether to be sad or relieved. He'd betrayed her so many times over the years, leaving her open to the scorn of the world, and the press still hounds her constantly. So when she flees to her family home on the Pacific Ocean to escape the media's renewed attention, why does she offer sanctuary to Ashley, the young woman who was in the car with Cliff when it crashed? Especially knowing she is pregnant?
Meanwhile, at Surf Cafe in Silver Point, joint owner Melanie wonders anew why her one-time friend turned her back on her to run away with Cliff all these years ago? Especially when she was dating Melanie's twin, Nate, leaving him broken-hearted? As the story progresses, both women must examine the past before they can look to the future.
Although there is a mystery to be solved as to Ashley's role in the story, the narrative here relies more on character than plot, and there is a lot of soul-searching from the characters. It is their internal and external dialogue that moves the tale towards a resolution rather than any real action. Can Joanna especially recover from what she sees as a series of bad life choices?
The background is lovely - who wouldn't want to visit Silver Point with its gorgeous cafe, bookstore and gift shop, all set against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean.
But I have to confess I'd have liked a little more action.
Ah if I was to look up feel good fiction in the library this is exactly the book I'd like to find! Funny, emotional, heartfelt with a fantstic setting, it's all I look for in a book - yet another triumphant success.
An easy read with a mixture of joy, happiness and deceit. It tells the story of two women with a common link and how they are intertwined with one another providing real support to each other. It also tells of the importance of real friends and how they will provide genuine support. It is an easy read which once you get started becomes addictive.
