Oh I'm so annoyed it took me so long to get to this book!! I absolutely love Sarah Morgan and this book was another fantastic addition to her collection!
I absolutely adore that there are always lots of layers that need revealing throughout her stories. She never gives everything away and slowly unveils bits and pieces in a way you don't expect! The back stories of Ashley, Joanne, Nate and Mel were just delicious, so much unsaid, so much shared, so much history and unexpected news. It was just fabulous! Thanks Sarah for creating a world I can lose myself in and dream about (I mean who wouldn't want to live in Otters Nest?!)
I'm often concerned when a UK based author writes about the US but California was so well described here it almost felt I was actually in the area. It's a great read for summer and will really draw you in from the first page.
When Joanna’s celebrity chef ex husband dies in a car crash, she learns he was not alone. Of course Cliff who was known to have affairs during their marriage had a young girl in his car at the time. Ashley who survives the accident is pregnant which ends up leaked to the press causing Joanna to act fast.
Joanna being the kind person that she is takes Ashley to her secluded Beach House ‘Otters Nest’ which is on the edge of the small town she grew up in.
Joanna escaped this town when she was younger after her father died and her boyfriend Nate broke up with her. She has spent years being lonely and feeling she can’t trust anyone but can going back to this small town show her true friendship and community spirit.
Can she evade the press and settle into a different life? Can she mend her trust issues or will she be alone forever? Can the lies that are uncovered make her run away again?
This was a lovey holiday read. It flowed well and it had a couple of twists I didn’t see coming. I warmed to all of the characters except celebrity Chef Cliff (I hated him lol). It was lovely following and uncovering the hidden layers of Joanna’s thoughts and feelings. I finished this book in a really good mood.
I enjoyed this book, I've read quite a few by this author. It was a heartwarming story of a tragedy turning into a culmination of new relationships.
Joanna was married to a famous chef and her marriage and divorce has always meant that she has been in the spotlight. When her ex-husband dies in a car crash and the press discover that the passenger in the car was a young pregnant women they start to hound her for a story. Joanna takes in Ashley and they go to Joanna’s beach house hideaway to get away from the prsss.
This was an ok read for me. I found that the story moved a little slowly and I didn’t love the characters. The plot was fairly predictable too. Overall this was an ok read and if you are looking for a easy beach read this would be perfect. I have read quite a few of the author’s previous books but I didn’t enjoy this one as much as previous ones.
When Cliff Whitman is killed in a car crash with a woman in the passengers seat, Joanna feels her ex husband's lies and betrayal all over again.
However there is something about the face of the girl that she recognises.
Joanna and Ashley find themselves holed up in Silver Point in Joanna's beach house where friendships are renewed and a new chapter begins.
A brilliant story!
An enchanting book, full of friendship, relationships and interactions. It is a beautifully written story which draws the reader in from the start. A perfect holiday read, great flow, good storyline and some unusual twists and turns. I would recommend this book.
Thank you to Netgalley, Sarah Morgan and HQ for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review
Thank you Netgalley for my ARC copy in exchange for my honest review.
I read this book on holiday and couldn't put it down. The storyline was unusual and I really felt for Joanna. What a selfless way she helped Ashley.
The setting of Silver Point in California was beautiful and the amazing friends Joanna had all these years later was heartwarming. A lovely read which I would highly recommend.
This was the first time I've heard of this author. She lives in the UK but writes about America so well. This book, set in California, was authentic to the time and place (except for one major issue about celebrities and paparazzi that felt unrealistic to me, unfortunately, this is the major plot point...).
An interesting and charming read overall despite the quick and tidy change of heart for the main character.
Thanks to NetGalley UK for an e-galley of this book.
I love a Sarah Morgan novel and Beach House Summer did not disappoint. I loved the combination of family drama, rekindled relationships and reconnecting with old friends. This was a perfect beach read that I will be recommending to everyone I know going on holiday this summer.
Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy.
Beach House Summer was yet another great book by Sarah Morgan. Never fails to disappoint me I look forward to reading all of Sarah’s books when they are released, she makes me feel like I am in the book with the characters. I loved this book, could not put it down and read it in one sitting.
Loved this emotional, romantic and exciting book.
Sarah has a way of writing that really draws you in. Her books are heartwarming and sometimes heartbreaking all wrapped up in one story which I find relatable. Life isnt all lovely and cosy and this story gives a real life vibe.
I loved Ashley's character and how she grew throughout the book, even being so young. I also really enjoyed her interactions with Joanna and Eden. Such a friendly person despite her troubles.
I loved Joanna too, a feisty female who has been through a lot herself and has been misunderstood in the passed.
The friendships and relationships throughout this book are uplifting and wonderful.
This is the first book that I have read by this author, and it most certainly won’t be the last!
Thank you to Netgalley and HQ for an e copy of this book, in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
I was very quickly drawn into the lives of the three main characters and found myself immersed in their interwoven lives in a small beach town in California. Lots of sensitive topics feature in this book, death, pregnancy, miscarriage and broken families, but it was all dealt with well and thoughtfully. It also highlighted how through friendships, second chances and sisterhood, there really is hope for everyone when life seems to be dealing you all of the bad cards.
I recommend this book to anyone, it is this is the perfect beach read, and I read it in a day, sitting in the shade with a cool drink close to hand.
Brilliant easy to read story with one or two twists that I didn’t see happening between Ashley and Cliff. Loved the transition that Joanna went through and the bravery she showed. And wow Otters Nest sounds like paradise. Lovely Summer Read
Another brilliant book by Sarah Morgan. I love her summer books - she captures a place so vividly, you feel like you are there.
A beautiful story of two women linked and both exploring their pasts and futures. Both Ashley and Joanna’s characters were written so well, you feel you know them, empathise with them and miss them when the book comes to an end. Highly recommended summer read
Another great read by sarah Morgan, her books pull you in and when you think she cnat do another as good as the last, she pops up again woth all the best storylines to have.
Were set in USA and this story gripped me, theres a divorce, an illigetimate child, a new pregnancy all wothin the same family. I couldnt put this book down especilly when they went back to her old town and stayed at owne nest..... i cant say anymore because i will ruin the plot. READ IT!
A great book
A real feel good book
A great holiday read
Will have you drawn in from the first page to the last
Thanks NetGalley
I really enjoyed this book. Typical fluff we have come to expect from Sarah Morgan, however each book is beautiful in its own right. Would definitely recommend!
Though it start with a rollercoaster of pain and grief, Beach House Summer ends up being the perfect heartwarming, feel good beach read. It doesn't break any new ground, the writing is good not great and the story is pretty predictable but I loved it none the less. Easy to read and very enjoyable, just what I wanted to dip in and out of on my sun lounger
Oh I loved this!! California is my favourite place in the world, especially the area around Monteray and Carmel, so I fell in live with Silver Point and could see it so vividly!
I adored Ashley, a young but wise character, and Joanna had more hidden reserves than she realised!
I loved the sense of community and friendship, a beautiful heartwarming book, if I were to be hyper critical I would say it ended a little abruptly, but I loved it!
