This book got better as it went along. At first I was annoyed by the characters, but that was also kind of the point. LOL. As the book moves along you find more of the characters' humanities and why they are the way they are. I never fell truly in love with them, but it was still a delightful book to read!

I love my romcoms but sadly, I really struggled with this one. It was hard to get into the story, the characters were unlikable (especially Posy) and to be fair, I didn't feel all that excited about her getting a happy ending. I ended up skimming to finish this one.

A nice easy rom com read. I love the description as enemies to lovers. Posy and Lucas were headboy and headgirl at their posh school 12 years ago. Lucas was the son of staff members and went by the unfortunate nickname of "Helpboy". He pushed himself academically and always felt there was something to prove. Now running a wealth management company, he needs clients to keep it afloat, so heads to the school reunion. Posy's dad is a multi millionaire and she coasted through school and life. With no purpose beyond partying, her father has finally given her an ultimatum and cut off her allowance. So how can she get to Hawaii to a photography exhibition where she can prove her worth? Will joining forces in a marriage scam help Posy and Lucas? But what happens when they (inevitably) fall in love for real? This was a lovely, fun read. #netgalley #thereunion

I really didn’t mind this book! It wasn’t great, and the characters felt a bit too stereotypical for my liking, but it was cute and an easy read.

Lucas and Posy do not like each other. They were head boy and head girl of their high school, but they went very different ways afterwards. Lucas is a businessman looking to grow his business, and Posy is a wannabe photographer living with her dad and using his money for… everything. But when her father cuts her off and he needs some more clients and more money, they agree to follow through on a little-known bylaw that could prove mutually beneficial. The school promised that if their head boy and girl got married, the school would pay for it. So, if Lucas agrees to marry Posy and go to a photography fair in Hawaii for their “anniversary,” she will use her connections to find him more clients.

This was a very quick read for me. But it didn’t stick in my brain. When I finished the book, I felt finished thinking about it and the characters and plot. It was fine, but felt stilted and wasn’t anything special. I love a fun romcom, and this was one, but it was an average one.

Unfortunately this story just wasn’t for me and the main reason being that I found Posy to be a highly unlikeable character who acted very spoilt and to be honest was a bit of a bully. I just couldn’t grow to like her and I didn’t feel that she grew as a character or redeemed herself at all. She is actually just quite horrible.

I’m actually quite sad about this as it has enemies to lovers and fake dating but it just wasn’t for me!

A fun book that was a little slow to start with but once I had got into it I enjoyed it.

I started reading this book on a lunch break at work and then had to spend my whole evening reading to get it finished, it's safe to say I was hooked!

I just loved Posy and Lucas even with their flaws and how they got to know the person they thought they hated at school. I despised the characters with names so fancy I couldn't pronounce them and loved Posy's friend Tara and how she loved her friend fiercely.

This was such a fun read and I can't wait to see what Elizabeth Drummond writes next!

I love a good chick lit book but unfortunately this is not one of them, I really wanted to like it from the blurb but it simply didn’t live up to expectations

I would like to say that I loved this book and was able to finish, but I could not. This had all the things I love wrapped into one, and it would seem this was a perfect book for me... but I just could not finish it. I am so sorry, I would write a review on what I read, but I could not get too far in. It just seemed a little hard to really get into, and I did not connect with the characters. I am going to try and give it another go, however, but for this read, it was not just for me.

Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this book as much as I thought I would. The plot dragged too much for my preferences and became predictable during the second half. I struggled to warm to the characters and really only finished reading, as I felt obliged to. due to being gifted a copy of the book. Although this book missed the mark for me, this could be due to the high volume of this genre that I have been reviewing recently, and the magic may have fizzled for me. For this reason, I have not been put off reading more by this author and will be willing to try again in the future.

Posy and Lucas hate each other. But, they haven't seen each other in 10 years, could they really be the same?

Yes. Both have grown up as expected, Lucas' perfect plan seems to be accomplished and Posy continues to effortlessly glide through life with no qualms or worries. Except, despite Lucas' plan, his company is going down and Posy, still rich, beautiful, and with no worries, is not taken seriously regarding her dreams.

While their first meeting follows their old patterns, when they find themselves together planning a wedding to save their dreams, they learn neither is who they thought and maybe they need each other to be their best version.

Posy and Lucas show their growth at the end of the story, but I feel like the story was missing their development and showing us examples of their change before the big end gesture. Like how Posy is selfish and Lucas is too set in his ways, if we had moments where they showed their growth with others that could have helped make the ending more believable. I think if we got a little more of these steps it would have helped the story, especially because there felt like a lack of resolution with side characters like Ines.

Overall, a fun romance with humorous moments!

Lucas and Posy are fake dating having been enemies in the past. I could not relate to either character and I found the book quite annoying. I think this would be better suited to the young adult group. The requirement to find a husband and the fat shaming jokes were other reasons that meant that I did not enjoy it.

I love a great enemies to lovers fake dating trope book. Posy and Lucas were rivals in high school, and now at their reunion, they realize that they could use each other as a means to an end. Let the fun begin.
I think it is the most fun when enemies realize the reason they are enemies is because they secretly harbor feelings for the other. I just wish I would have seen more of that.
While I usually love this type of situation, Posy was a bit of a mess and that deterred me a bit, but I did like the two working together.

The Reunion has a great premise - that if the head boy and head girl of prestigious Arundal Boarding School marry, then the school pay for the wedding and honeymoon. Archaic and patriarchal certainly. And given stoic, spreadsheet loving Lucas O'Rourke and social, flighty Posy Edwins could not stand each other at school, it seems highly unlikely. That is, until Posy is cut off from the family fortune and forced to actually work .. well, she actually isn't working, she's scheming her way to Hawaii so she can show some photos she's taken in an exhibition she vows will make her famous. Lucas is part of the plan - if she marries him, she can have the honeymoon in Hawai. And problem solved. What they don't factor in is the impact of their decisions - for themselves, for their loved ones, and for their future.

Sounds great in theory. Where The Reunion struggles is in the execution of this promising plot. There are a couple of promising characters in Tara (Posy's friend) and Lucas' mother, who has some real backbone, but otherwise the characters don't really jump off the page. Posy is unlikeable (not that I require this in order to enjoy a book), and her about face happens so quickly it seems disingenuous. Lucas is pretty staid, and a bit one dimensional, despite the author's best efforts to round him out. Together they share a drunken night of passion (which is a fade to black scenario) without anything further, which I think is a real missed opportunity to allow these characters expression or at least give the reader some confidence about the foundation of their relationship when it does the about face.

This book is strongly reliant on humour that involves slighting, and undermining, particularly Posy's family in relation to Posy. There are also fat jokes and digs at the Irish, and the "lower class". Whilst the intent was obviously to create humour, they "jokes" all fell flat for me, to the point where I found some of them insulting and they made me uncomfortable.

This book was disappointing, and I would not usually be as critical for a debut novel, but I really struggled with this one.

The synopsis of this book got me, it sounded like a book I would very much enjoy, but sadly it missed the mark for me.

Normally the fake dating trope would be enough to pull me in and keep me interested in the book, however I just did not like the main character and could not relate to the story at all. It was just too hard to pick this book back up.

A fast paced, easy and entertaining read, this story is a delight for fans of the enemies to lovers trope. I found this so funny and engaging and found myself thinking of the characters when I wasn’t reading! I was confused by the mixed reviews but I guess not every book is for everyone - I adored this one and will be on the lookout for more by this author!

Posy was always the popular girl in school and Lucas was known as the helpboy. A fast read about enemies to friends, with a fake dating after reuniting 10 years later trope thrown in. It took me a while to warm up to Posy as she (and her family) came across as extremely snobby, self centered and uncultured. In the end, I found myself rooting for her to stand up for herself and for Lucas and his business to succeed.

I love a good enemies-to-lovers, fake dating trope but this one did not do it for me. The only likable character was Lucas and I felt sorry for him the whole time. I had a difficult time getting into the story and connecting with the characters. The ending saved the book, which is why I gave it 3 stars instead of 2.

I wanted to like this book but it just fell a little flat. I didn’t particularly like either of the main characters and just found the whole book slightly disappointing.
