Harlan Coben does not disappoint. Gripped from the first to the last page. The quest for family, reality star manipulation, and a child who grew up in the wild. The threads of the story are interwoven seamlessly.
If I wasn't already a fan I would be after this book.

My first Harlan Coben book (hard to believe as my kids have been recommending him for years!) and it certainly won’t be my last. Great storyline with the lead character having been found living in woods as a child and is consequently known as Wilde. He’s now grown up and has signed up for a DNA website to try to find his relatives……..and there begins the tale!

I really enjoyed the author’s style of writing and the originality of the story. (Okay maybe a slight take on Mowgli but very tenuous!) I like to see the world of social media revealed in all it’s seediness, subterfuge and egomania and this book does exactly that.

Without giving too much away, I would have liked to hear one character’s point of view at the end as I’m still unclear about their motivations and innocence/guilt. That is my only criticism.

A clear five stars from me and the joy of knowing I have loads more of this renowned author to read!!

My thanks go to the author, the publishers and Netgalley for an advanced e-reader copy. However, this review is entirely my honest opinion.

Harlen Coben is one of my favoured authors and I actually love Wilde as a character. However, as I end the book I just had quite a few unanswered questions so I can’t say this was most favourite novel.

Wilde makes a return and afterall spending some time trying to make things work in Costa Rica je returns to his ecocapsule long before Matthew, Layla, Rola and Hester are aware. He’s quickly drawn into a new family drama involving his past where he has the opportunity to discover his heritage but it doesn’t quite go to plan as he seems to disturb some existing operations. Throughout the story we unravel more about those related to Wilde and how it came about that he was abandoned in the woods.

Gah, I don’t know; I’d love to love this but there’s just not enough realistic narrative for me to go with it. Don’t get me wrong - I enjoyed it but I just couldn’t ride with it, if you know what I mean.

This is my first Harlen Coben book, and as I understand it, a follow up to a previous book. I wasn’t aware of its predecessor, but found it didn’t matter too much, as this is ok as a standalone.

After a very slow start, the plot did more quickly, though the genetics/DNA results and family connections were at times confusing.

The author certainly has a style of his own, and I’m not sure I would read another of his books. I did think this one was ok, a bit predictable, the mother/son denouement very odd (where was Dad?), and the continued use of “the vile man” a bit off putting.

If you are a HC fan I think you will love it, but not really for me.

Thank you NetGalley.

Another gripping read from Harlan Coben. I was absolutely compelled from the first sentence right until the very last. It was well written with a great storyline and well developed characters. The story was full of twists and suspense and I couldn't put it down. I loved it.

Wilde is the original "boy in the woods"

He is found feral after several years fending for himself in the backwoods.Named by the cop who found him, he has always been desperate to find his family.

When a DNA matching site turns up a match, he
embarks on a trip of discovery which takes him into the treacherous world of reality tv .

Another cracking fast paced novel by Harlen Coben.

Another great and very different type of story from Harlan Coben. As ever his characters are greatly drawn and full of humour and the storyline really holds the attention from start to finish.

So much fun. A typically fast paced thriller veering off in too many directions but it doesn’t matter as the characters are fun, the story is gripping and it never seems to matter that the resolution is slightly ridiculous because the journey was a blast

This was another absolute page turner from Harlan Coben, I spent my day off reading this and couldn’t put it down until I was finished!

Wilde has no real memories of his childhood. Occasional flashes come to mind. Otherwise all he remembers is living in the woods, where he was found and taken in from. He is known as the boy from the woods. Despite his shocking case making all the papers and media at the time, his parents or any extended family were never tracked down. His past has remained a mystery.

That is until he decides to do a DNA test on one of the many sites now available. A result comes back. A close relative. Very close. But suddenly the profile is deleted. This doesn’t stop Wilde and he uses his many skills and connections to track down the relative. What he discovers shocks him. But what he ends up caught up in becomes even more of a mystery than his childhood. When people start to die there is more at stake then he ever anticipated and he must work fast to solve the case, and to find out who his family really are.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read, from start to finish. I was immersed in the story and willing Wilde to make the right choice, do the right thing, find the family he deserved and more. Definitely a recommended read!

*I received this book from NetGalley for review but all opinions are my own.

Thanks to Random House UK, Cornerstone, Century and Netgalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for a review.

Another great read from Harlen Coben. Wilde, the man who has no memories of his parents and was found living wild as a boy, enters his DNA into a genealogy website and gets a match for his father but before he can make contact the father's profile disappears. Wilde, determined to get answers does not give up easily.

If you're a Harlan Coben fan you won't be disappointed.

After a DNA website throws up a match for Wilde - who made national headlines for being the "Boy in the Woods" - it leads him on a quest to find his birth family once and for all. However, another match throws a wrench into Wilde's plans - someone else matches with him, but when that person disappears it just throws up more intrigue.

This is another fantastic Harlan Coben book - one that you just can't put down! The reveal made a lot of sense motivation-wise and the characters are all well-rounded individuals. An easy 5* choice.

Great book, good follow on from The Boy In The Woods, finally answering a lot of the original Q’s about Wilde’s family. So definitely reading it’s predecessor first is a must.
Real page turner as Harlan Coben’s book tend to be! Very well written.

Apart from the occasional flashback, Wilde has no recollection of where he came from before he was found in the woods. How on earth had this little boy managed to survive? He’d been living a feral existence with no knowledge of who his parents were, or how he’d come to be abandoned in the woods.

Now in his forties, it’s taken years for Wilde to take a giant step and put his details into a DNA database, in the hope of finally discovering his true identity, and that of his parents.

A match is actually found - a close relative, but the relative deletes their details immediately. However, Wilde doesn’t give up, but his research results in him becoming embroiled in a secret online community, intent on exposing trolls - and then people start to die - one by one!

A definite page turner, although the family relationships were a little confusing at times, it was nevertheless a terrific read!

Following the events in The Boy From The Woods Wilde decides to investigate the DNA match he got to see if he can find out about his family. When he finally tracks down the mysterious PB he discovers he's missing, possibly as a result of online trolls. The more Wilde digs, the murkier things get.

I found the theme's of this novel really engrossing. The use of social media, reality TV and the internet is something we all interact with to some degree. The vast majority of people will engage with these mediums in a lighthearted way but The Match really does illustrate the darker side.

We are inundated by reality TV programs. The Match shows the positive side (instant fame, rewards, entertainment, etc) but deals far more with the negatives. We discover how viewers and contestants are manipulated. "Winners" then have the pressure to keep their fans entertained, to the point of sharing every moment of their life.

Coupled with reality TV is the use of social media. Reality TV stars relentlessly use social media to promote their brand, gaining millions of adoring fans. Unfortunately a fall from grace then leads to a backlash with trolls hounding those they once adored. Anonymity for the trolls make it difficult for people to fight back.

The Match finally answers the questions from The Boy From The Woods regarding Wilde's family. The hunt for answers isn't easy, there are plenty of twists. The ending is satisfying, neatly rounding off Wilde's story, however having grown to like the characters of Wilde, Hester, Laila, Matthew and Rola I would like to read more of their adventures.

Very much enjoyed this book. I've only ever read one other Wilde book and I slipped right back into the characters lives. There were two storylines, one about solving murders and one about finding out Wilde's parents and I thought the two blended quite nicely together. I didn't guess the ending(s) but I did like the romance element - I was rooting for them. The only thing that was disappointing was that I thought it ended a little too abruptly - perhaps needed a few more clues along the way? I also was curious about Wilde's comment about there being a few holes in his mother's telling of events - what did he mean by that or will that be in the next book?! I do hope so!

The Match follows Wilde as he searches for his parents after being found living in the woods as a young boy. As his search gains traction, his discovered relatives begin to disappear and a sinister mystery is uncovered.

Harlan Coben does an excellent job weaving together an intricate and gripping fast-paced hunt for the truth behind the mysterious whereabouts of Wildes newfound family. With twists and turns, deceptions, and suspenseful moments, this book will keep you up late turning pages desperate to find out what happens! I thoroughly enjoyed this latest novel in the Wilde series and eagerly await the next installment!

A really solid addition to the genre; reliable, if a little predictable in places. Would recommend if you know what you want from this sort of book, as it definitely delivers that.

A gripping story about Wilde’s search for answers about how he was found after living in the forest as a child.

When a genealogy website finds a match, he goes to visit the person, but then he vanishes without trace.

At the same time, another match, PB, goes missing, presumed dead. Wilde investigates, and ends up in a convoluted situation, leading to mayhem and murder.

Intriguing and well-written for fans of a good detective yarn.

This is my first attempt at reading Harlan Coben. I resect his popularity in past novels, but unfortunately this book was not for me. The vocabulary, the plot. and the style of his writing I really struggled with throughout the book.

I give a 2 star rating, simply as the book was not for me.

I WANT TO THANK NETGALLEY FOR THE OPPORTUNITY OF READING AN ADVANCED COPY OF THIS BOOK FOR AN HONEST REVIEW.

I had the privilege of getting an arc from the publisher via Netgalley and this is my most honest review. I say honest instead of not influenced because I'm biased when it comes to Harlan Coben. Yeah, yeah, not every book is perfect but I always ended up loving it. Sometimes, tho, sometimes he strikes the right places and you just can't put the book down, you can't just stop reading it. You can't, you won't. And The Match is one of those.
I think is interesting to see how Harlan is not one of these kind of authors that start good and gets a bit worse with every book. This is one of the bests. I loved the assassin's point of view. And the twists I was most definitely not expecting. There's so much character development here, so much more about who Wilde is than the first one, it would be a pleasure to follow him and get to know him a bit more. I hope we get to see more of Wilde. That we get a 3th book. We have so many books of Myron, I'm sure Harlan can make a lot of good books for Wilde too.
It's always a please to read a Harlan Coben, but when it's an arc? Damn it's so more sweet
