My first Kate Frost book!! After a slow start that sets the scene, the book builds in complex human issues, as the aspects of the characters deepen. Although I didn't relate to the first third of the book, after that I was totally pulled in. Having visited the Greek Island of Skopelos a few years ago from Skiathos, there were many familiar scenes and places and brought a few smiles to my face!!
Harlow has a job on a film location on the Greek Island of Skopelos. The first few days seem to be full of difficulties and challenges both with her work and the people she is surrounded by, including her mum the famous Oscar winning producer Maeve. Should Harlow still be working in film or choose a different career?
Some great twists and turns, I felt the writing was well thought out, full of good intent and includes many modern day family and relationships issues.
Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood books for this slice of Greek sunshine!

I enjoyed this book, I found it was a bit slow burner but it did pick up towards the middle and I loved it 💗

I was instantly transported to the Greek Island of Skopelos - sun, stunning views, beaches and lots of mediterranean food ☀️⛱️🇬🇷

It's a typical romance book - lots of emotions, family dramas and of course complicated relationships. It was the perfect book to escape everything that is happening at the mo and let's face it we all need that!

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

I loved that when I read in the beginning of the book that Mamma Mia was also partly filmed on Skopelos.

The story is about Harlow, about what happened in her life, from the time of her studies, big issues that were covered sensitively.

Apart from this, there is handsome Adonis, who softened eventually towards Harlow.

Harlow wants to change the way her relationship currently is with her mother, as well as finding out for herself, what she wants to do, that will give her happiness.

I didn’t see what she decides to do coming, but, as I read it felt right what Harlow wanted to do.

I loved Skopelos, the setting, of this book, knowing what someone working as a location assistant on a film actually does. Not only that, the food, views, and the way the people live and work.

It was a joy to read this book.

This story really tested my staying power to begin with but I'm glad I persevered!!. I found this story quite slow to start with but it seemed to pick up speed. I really thought it would be the norm, girl meets boy, girl falls out with boy, girl makes up with boy....silly me, I forgot that the author adds quite a bit of depth to the characters and the plot!!. the main character's inner layers were slowly revealed which made some sense of why they had the issues they did. I suddenly became invested in this story and found I couldn't shut the book!. I needed to read on!!! The story goes like this;
Harlow Sands, the daughter of famous film producer Madge Fennimore-Bell, arrives on the Greek island Skopelos, to work on a movie production she is involved with. She's going to have to work closely with an ex boyfriend,( always a strain!) which will give her so much stress but just to top that, her aloof mother is the producer!!. All that combined is going to give her a massive headache!. IShe struggles on... At one location on the island, Harlow is sent to get a signature for permission to film there as the owner has not got on well with the previous person!!.Namely Tyler, her ex. She sees a man and mistakenly takes him for the owner but it's not him, it's his son who scowls at her and does not reply in English. She's going to have to go back the next day. She does this and gets his signature but gets another look at the grumpy hunk. He's called Adonis and he fits the name perfectly!!. Harlow gets to know the complicated Adonis whilst trying to not spontaneously combust from the hard time her ex is giving her( he has issues), whilst trying to have a relationship with her cold, disapproving mother!. Phew!!. I'm tired already trying to explain all this!. Probably best you read the book!!!.
One Greek Summer's plot includes a lot of pent up.emotion, family secrets and complicated relationships. It also includes loyal friends and family that anyone would wish for!!
It's a real chick book with characters in it that we all have in our lives and for me that was a plus!.
Many thanks to Netgalley for the free ARC book for an honest review.

My review for One Greek Summer by Kate Frost, 5/5 stars.

Kate Frost transports you to sun-kissed Greece, with splashes of Mediterranean colours, the aromas of traditional foods, and the stunning views of olive groves and deserted beaches. This is another beautiful, romantic, heartwarming story that the author writes so well, with a descriptive narrative that takes you away from your everyday life for a while.

Harlow Sands, daughter of a famous film producer, arrives on a Greek island to work on her mother's latest film. Her on-off boyfriend Tyler is also there, which makes things awkward. Determined to make her own way in life, Harlow must battle against her mum's desire to control her life, and Tyler's insistence to pick up things where they last left off. And to add to her problems, she meets a handsome local man whose lifestyle is the complete opposite to hers!

With well-written characters that quickly become friends, and a family that welcomes you into their home, you get a behind-the-scenes look into both the making of a film and the warmth of a Greek family. A wonderful, feel-good romance that I highly recommend!

Kate Frost is a new author for me and I thoroughly enjoyed One Greek Summer.

Harlow Sands arrives on the idyllic Greek island of Skopelos. She has the opportunity of a lifetime working on a big budget film but her uncertainty over the direction of her life and the expectations of her domineering producer mother threaten to ruin her time on the island.

As soon as you start this book you are instantly transported to Greece. The scenery is beautifully described and the descriptions of the food will have your mouth watering. Add in great characters and a plot that moves along nicely and you’re on for a great read. I would rate this 4.5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Boldwood Books and the author for the chance to review.

Harlow is working on a shoot in Greece but is trying not to make it obvious that her mum is the director and Tyler who she was in a friends with benefits relationship.
Whilst working she meets a Greek man aptly named Adonis and starts to fall for him, making her question her job as she has never really liked it. After a heart to heart with her friend and her mum they sort out where things were going wrong and she comes to a decision
A great read

Harlow Sands arrives on an idyllic Greek island to work on a big budget movie, her Mum is a world famous producer who thinks her Daughter should want to follow in her footsteps. Harlow, however prefers being behind the scenes and keeping in the background. Forced to come to Greece to help her Mum on the shoot she comes face to friend with her old friend Tyler. They have a complicated history and their relationship has turned toxic over time. Tyler wants to pick up where they left off but Harlow is not interested and can't believe the person he has turned into. Having a difficult relationship with her Mum also, Harlow tries to keep to herself as much as she can and explores the area alone or with her friend Manda one of the makeup artists on set.

Harlow has the job of location assistant and is responsible for scouting out the desk routes for the crew and actors to take to the various locations on the Island of Skopelos, where Mamma Mia was filmed in parts. The authors descriptions of the beautiful locations, the colourful characters and delicious food throughout the book are brilliant. I could almost smell the vine leaves and Tzatziki whilst reading. She is a turning point of her life and needs to decide what she actually wants.

I love books like this set in a foreign climate, especially when I am reading from a damp, cold and rainy England. It makes me dream of Spring/Summer and the warmer days to come. As soon as I saw the front cover, I knew I wanted to get me hands on a copy. The sweet romance was a lovely added bonus to story and Adonis and his family grew on me throughout the book. They were so warm and welcoming, inviting Harlow over for food. I have been lucky enough to visit Greece many times and the friendly hospitality shown to strangers always amazes me. I really enjoyed this book and will look out for other works by the author in the future.

Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I adore the cover. One Greek Summer is a beautiful read. Harlow is on location in Greece, but she has much to untangle. Her relationship with her mother needs tending. Her relationship with Tyler needs decisions to be made. She’s not really happy with her career. Then there’s the broody Adonis who is the epitome of Greek maleness.
Fall into the story, with lots of ABBA references and enjoy the beauty.

A Scrumptious Summer Read!

Be prepared to be hungry as you devour this book. The mouth watering Greek delicacies are dangled in almost every chapter. From fresh salads to sizzling barbecues your tastebuds will be tingling. Once your taste buds have been awakened you drift off to the beautiful Greek island and travel beaches and olive groves.

Harlow has been drafted in at the last minute and is late to shooting a film which her glamorous mum is producing. Harlow is adamant to start at the bottom as a location assistant despite spending years building a career as a director. Harlow is most worried about spending time with Tyler who is complicated to say the least.

When on the traditional Greek island Harlow is tasked with arranging the use of an olive grove with the grumpy farmer that owns in. Harlow stumbles instead upon his son Adonis. He is intriguing and beautiful Harlow doesn’t know what to do with him.

I love that the story between Harlow and her family develops and intertwines with the relationship Adonis has with his own family. The two are opposites in so many ways but also very similar. Tyler is also a revelation I lobe the depth of his character as it unfolds throughout the story. There’s also lots of gossip and giggles with Harlow friend Manda.

This is a heartwarming read and doesn’t shy from mental health as well as physical health. Harlow and her mother Maeve have an ever evolving dynamic. The relationship is probably my favourite in the book the way it explores anxiety, post natal depression and understanding between woman.

A fabulous read which is easily devoured in a day. It will leave you craving fresh salad, sweet wine and delicious pastries by the sea or in a meadow.

Perfect escapism with so much delicious Greek island scenery, food, sunshine and "picnics in olive groves" romance
It took me a little while to get to know the main characters and there's a certain dynamic between Harlow and Tyler that I never truly understood but that aside once I was in the storyline it was wonderful to read about Adonis' farm and family and also Harlow's family too. Her relationship with her Mum I thought was really well developed and interesting to read, it certainly coincided with a lot of topical issues surrounding Hollywood such as #MeToo & #TimesUp where you see the double standards at play for women in this industry.
Overall a good book if you love Greece and books with an element of self -discovery and growth.

Do you like character driven novels? How about one set on a Greek island? Are you a Mamma Mia fan? Remember it was filmed in part on Skopelos? Well, this sweet romance is about Harlow Sands and she, too, is on location on this island in the Aegean Sea to film ‘One Greek Summer.’ There are many references to Mamma Mia, too, so you’ll be wanting to grab your old ABBA soundtrack!

The amazing cover art grabbed my attention, but the sweet romance and the relationship dynamics kept me interested. In fact, the character relationships are the driving force of this novel. Don’t get me wrong, the food and the setting were spectacular, but the author has put a little something extra into these authentic characters. We see Harlow’s relationship with herself, with those she meets on the island, with those on the film crew, with her mother, with her father and his new family, with her ex-boyfriend, with her new boyfriend, and with people she meets on location. Each of these relationships change over time, creating unique relationship dynamics. Linking Frost’s characters together is the simple fact that they all need something from each other.

What makes Harlow so relatable is that she faces many of the issues her readers face. She’s an open book, allowing readers to get involved with what’s happening and this connection with the protagonist adds to the value of Frost’s story. Harlow comes to Skopelos frustrated with the direction of her career and with her overbearing mother, Maeve Fennimore-Bell, a Hollywood producer. Many of us know the struggle too well; trying to keep others happy while trying to be true to ourselves. The sunshine, the magic of the olive grove and the welcoming islanders all work their charm on Harlow and enable her to see exactly what path she needs to take.

Adonis is the perfect impact character. In addition to his obvious attraction to Harlow, he gently shows her how important family is and how important it is to follow one’s dreams.

I loved this quick, easy and enjoyable escapist read where I was quickly immersed in a world with no masks, no vaccine passports and I could forget about the cold, rainy weather. I’d eagerly read another novel by Kate Frost.

I was gifted this advance copy by Kate Frost, Boldwood Books, and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

Romantic escape novels are the genre I have been missing in my life, Kate Frost has made that very clear with her gorgeous story 'One Greek Summer'. My love for this book grew with each page I turned – the comforting feeling it gave me felt as warm as the Greek island Frost takes us to, and I will be returning to this book whenever I need a vacation with the vibrant people of Skopelos that welcome you like family.

Frost layered multiple relationship dynamics with her characters that all felt relatable and believable. She described a perfect amount of past elements to make her characters' interactions understood without ever needing to transition time frames or over-explain their history. At times I felt like a close family friend listening in on the sharp conflicts and sweet exchanges. At other times I wanted to be a part of the family, flaws and all.

I empathized with the internal conflicts that the main character battled with – she was such an easy going personality to follow and I had all the hope for her throughout the book. This book was not without its unexpected surprises and each one touched my heart. The beauty in the details of Greece, the food, the people, the locations, were so well written. I will read 'One Greek Summer' again and will now be seeking out Frost's other books as I'd let her take me anywhere after this experience!

I appreciate the publisher, Boldwood Books, and NetGalley for the opportunity to enjoy an electronic Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for my honest review.

I loved this book, it was the perfect read for when I was in a slump. Harlow is lovable as a character and the way Kate Frost (our author) describes the scenery makes me wish I was stuck in Greece for the summer. Kate Frost also is able to talk about situations involving being a woman in a male dominated industry super well and was a great part of the plot.

Taking a chance on love is just the beginning… If I you are wanting a great escape this is exactly the book you will want to read. You will be so glad you did – I know I was glad I got to read it. The premise of this book sounded interesting from the very beginning. It was a quick, easy read and if you are looking for a quick, entertaining read then this is a great book for you!

What I love most about this book is the author's ability to transport you to this beautiful Greek island and keep you tethered to it. Kate Frost made the setting another character in her novel and it worked so well. Harlow Sands finds herself at a crossroads in life that every one can relate to: doing what's right for your own soul rather than what's "right" to everyone else. This book takes that crossroads and gives us the story of this woman in discovery mode set against a place that, especially to me in the doldrums and drear of winter, seems like a fairytale.

There was an aspect of the book that I didn't love between Harlow and her longtime companion. But the story of her and her mother was one that resonates with me and I found wonderfully complex and intriguing. Everyone can find some enjoyment within the pages of One Greek Summer. Kate Frost wrote a lovely novel. And all the Mama Mia! references were great too!
