The Little Library on Cherry Lane by Katie Ginger a NetGalley read. Elsie Martin is beyond passionate about books and has the perfect job working in her local library. Elsie is happy with life but is incredibly shy until her beloved library is threatened with closure. You can’t help but fall in love with this book, Elsie is a woman after my own heart, she has this great passion for books and sharing that love of books while working in her local library. Elsie has the biggest heart, which we see through the people she cares for that come through those library doors. When the library is threatened with closure she isn’t passionate about saving it for herself, she’s passionate about saving it for her community and the people that use the library. This book without a doubt is a heartwarming read but it’s predictable from the start, there’s no hidden surprise or major plot twists but if you’ve chosen this book to read then you know what your getting and it won’t disappoint. This book is an easy m, feel good read, I’ve never read anything by this author before and I really enjoyed it. I love Elsie’s character because we see this character grow, from this timid, easily embarrassed, wouldn’t say boo to a goose or stand up for herself girl, into this firing on all cylinders, feisty, opinionated, passionate and confident woman. This book is also about finding your voice, fighting for what you believe in and doing what makes you happy not about and not about what other people want you to be. You will also fall in love with this book because is endearing, set in a picture perfect village, a village that the author paints the most idyllic picture of, that will no doubt ignite your imagination. Through the love of books and her library Elsie finds her voice and her confidence but in turn Elsie helps others find their voice to. As much as Elsie want to say the library for her, she wants to save it more I think for her community, because she sees them all as family. I loved this book and I hope you all do to, I would definitely recommend this book. To be honest the more I think about this unassuming book the more I love it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
a sweet story of a shy librarian who learns that the library is to be torn down. really enjoyed this story. will read more by this author
A delightful read from start to finish! Elsie is a librarian in Meadowbank, the charming village where she grew up. Notified that their beloved library is slated for closure to make way for an affordable housing development, Elsie wonders what will happen to her. She loves her job and where she lives. More importantly, what will the closure mean to everyone who relies on the library? Not just a building with books, a beloved widowed neighbor comes in for the company, another who’s interest is in using the computer to search which famous people are spotted around, a playgroup provides Mom and tots together time. Community members who will be lost without the library. Elsie has never been comfortable being in the spotlight, but she feels she must do something. What can she do?
As the title suggests, the book centres around the village library which is about to be demolished after the council sold the land to a company to build affordable housing
Elsie is the librarian and is devastated when she finds out about the closure and despite being a quiet shy person comes out of her shell to rouse the villagers to save the library
Jacob is the building companies son whose task is to get the site cleared ready to build but soon finds out that the job isn't going to be as easy as he thought it was and the library really is the heart of the village
Loved it
I appreciate that Katie Ginger writes charmingly, funny, sensitively about the community, the cohesive power of the small English village. I was looking for small-town novels at the same time, and I think all of the writer’s books will appeal in that regard.
In this spring story, they are about to tear down a library that the librarian, Elsie, doesn’t like, as she loves her job and her livelihood depends on it. We get to know Elsie’s helping friends, the retirees who go to the library, Keats, the cat. Then there’s Jacob, who oversees the entire project, the company of his father, who would pull up new houses.
They obviously meet at the beginning.
Apparently it turns out who belongs to which camp.
Obviously there will be love out of hatred, but.
In this book, romance is not the main driving force, but the community, the achievement of goals, the petition, the involvement of the legendary local writer and the ducks.
Although the story moves along stenciled lines, it is still very charming and lovely. My soul would have endured a little more romance, but no matter, it was good anyway.

Small Town Enemies to Sweethearts Clean Romance
My favorite thing about Elsie and Jacob’s story is that it was a joy to see each eventually grow a backbone and be courageous over the course of the book. Friends of Elsie’s are surprised that she finally comes out of her shell to speak up and take action for the library. Whereas Jacob always appeared to be self-assured, but wasn’t. It seems it was Elsie’s influence that motivated him the most.
I really enjoy Katie Ginger’s stories and look forward to the next.
Honestly, it took me a little bit to get into the story, but after three chapters, I couldn’t stop reading it! I was up all night because everything was sooooo good! I loved the characters, specially the main couple. I loved the slow burn and how Jacob fell for Elsie, it was so cute to read his feelings for her, but also frustrating because Elsie was just too focused on the little library, which is a good thing because we love a heroine with a cause! (quick note: I really need a Jacob!!!)
The love Elsie has for the little library were explain so nicely that I fell in love with the library too. I cried with Elsie while all these things started to happen to her and her dream job and I can’t explain how her fierceness made so much sense! Also, I was frustrated with her sometimes because she just couldn’t let Jacob explain himself in occasions, but also he didn’t fight enough to say the truth behind his decisions, so… communication problems! But that’s okay because I love them as a couple!
The secondary characters were also wonderful! Each one of them were written so beautifully that they felt very real. I cried with their stories and their reasons to love the library as much as Elsie. They, as a whole, felt like a real community. It was very nice.
I can’t wait to read the rest of Katie’s sweet stories! This book was so cute and cozy that I desperately need another to fulfill my romantic heart 🌸
A warm romance story set in a small village library in a quaint English village - what's not to love! As a librarian I loved the idea of a story set around a small library. Katie Ginger has set this story (the third in series) in her fictional village of Meadowbank. Elsie, a true bibliophile, has been working in the village library for the last five years. However, due to development plans the Library looks set to close. Elsie, determined to save the library which is a haven for the village, comes into contact with Jacob Yardley, son of the developer. Keen to prove himself in his first big project, he truly believes that libraries are no longer needed and the houses he will be building are more important. An unexpected meeting throws the two characters together, but when they realise who the other person is, life and their budding friendship becomes complicated...
Another lovely read by Katie Ginger, perfect for a quiet night in or holiday read. Once I started I found it difficult to put down and read it over two days. Great for fans of Bella Osborne or Heidi Swain.
As a frequent library visitor, since I was 5, I loved this romantic story about a small library in a village. It had all the ingredients for a great story: a librarian, a strong businessman, a bestselling author, love, community and drama…enough drama to make a movie out of it. If you like romantic books, you should definitely read this book.
Thank you Netgalley and writer for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review.
My first book by this author. I really enjoyed the book. Elsie Martin is the shy quiet librarian in town. Jacob Yardley works for his father's construction business, which he is not really happy working for him. Yardley Construction intents to bring affordable housing to town. Jacob meets Elsie just as he is coming into town to oversee the project.
Elsie finds out that they are closing her beloved library and tearing it down for the affordable housing. She has always just been the wallflower; but this project has her fired up. Good job on Elsie and Jacob convincing each other they need the housing and the library.
In a small village Elsie works at the library and loves her job. When the news comes that the library is going to be torn down for a housing development she is outraged. Romance is in the air.

Elsie Martin may lead a quiet life, but working in her beloved local library is enough to make her happy. After all, books have always been her armour against the world. So when the library is threatened with closure to make way for a new housing development, Elsie knows it has to be saved – and that, despite being painfully shy, she needs to lead the campaign to save it.
Jacob Yardley thinks he’s doing the right thing by building a new affordable housing development. Why shouldn’t local people be able to buy a house in the place they grew up? Having to leave his own small hometown broke his heart. Plus, people don’t really use libraries anymore, do they?
This will speak to all book-lovers. When Elsie finds out that her beloved library is earmarked for closure, she is determined to save it. This is about so much more than the story, it illustrates just how much libraries do for a community and how they can bring people together. A charming, small town romance with some strong messages to deliver. I thought that this was such a charming book to read and I could really feel Elsie's determination come to life.

Elise is a beloved librarian but when the town announces that they are closing the library to make way for affordable housing. Enter Jacob, the head of the development project. Sparks fly when they meet to discuss their opposition. Will the project tear them apart? Or will love conquer all?
I enjoyed this book, it’s a sweet beach read. There’s no steam and it’s basically a hallmark movie but it was fun and well paced. I’d recommend it if your heading to the water this summer but I probably won’t re read it.

This was a very cute book, but the last section made me cheer on Elsie so hard, and hope that all communities would respond in the same way, despite some of the arguing that happened beforehand.
From Jacob and Elsie's first encounter, I felt, as a reader, we were cheering them on. Everything was not as it seemed, from the place the library is in the community, and how it disappearing would mean, to how Elsie felt in her role as librarian, and Jacob who had to put up so much of a front despite how he really felt, so that he could impress his father.
You need to settle down with a lovely drink and some cake, and enjoy!
So lovely to be back in the village of Meadowbank & meeting some more of the residents. In particular Elsie, librarian, and insomniac bibliophile. I enjoyed reading Elsie’s story and seeing her grow in confidence as she battled against the closure of her much loved library.
Katie Ginger is a great author and once again she weaves a wonderful story featuring believable and fully-formed characters and a storyline that not only kept my interest from start to finish, but grew as Elsie’s story developed.
I was sad to read that this is the last visit to Meadowbank, I hope Katie had somewhere new planned for us readers to explore and fantastic characters to get to know.
As always, a wonderful read. Perfect for any time of year.
I’ve read a couple of romance novels that I enjoyed tremendously and this book is no exception. It was light, filled with the perfect amount of various emotions but more importantly, it showed good character development and watching the characters grow as the book progresses really contributed to my enjoyment.
🪐What I liked🪐
✨ Writing is really fun to read, it was engaging & not too long-winded. I enjoyed it a lot.
✨ Paced was good, wasn’t too slow nor was it too fast.
✨ Characters especially Elsie and her bravery for speaking up, going above and beyond despite her job being on the fence. Love her positive attitude and courage to fight.
✨ The community spirit among the villagers especially on how they supported Elsie.
🪐How I felt🪐
💫 Very fluffy & loved (LOL)
💫 Loving the way the environment & world-building was described, giving me a quaint happy & cosy village with lots of greenery.
💫 All sorts of emotions (anger, jealousy, heartache and annoyance)
💫 Giving me unrealistic expectations in love skskksks
💫 Wanting to move to a quaint village and wait for a man to fall in love with me sksksk (I am such a hopeless romantic)
🪐What I wished more🪐
💥 Considering how harsh Conrad treats Jacob, I was expecting a bigger stand off but that part felt a little meh.
💥 I wanted to see Leah get reprimanded (what an entitled snobbish bitch).
🪐Some other thoughts🪐
I won’t lie but Jacob didn’t really have a backbone tbh. I didn’t quite get his deal at first cause with him being the only child, I am sure he could have used that as leverage to negotiate with the dad. Another character that I didn’t quite understand was Karen. What’s her deal honestly?
Overall, I would rate this book 4 🌟 as I certainly enjoyed it. I would like to thank @netgalley for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Cute and fun read. Good characters and storyline. A sequel would be very welcome as I just wanted to read more.
Thank you netgalley and Katie Ginger for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
Katie once again you have created a sparkling summer read.
This book was gorgeous. I want to live in that village and go and read in the library.
Elsie to some is a shy bookish dry girl. To her friends and neighbours she is articulate l, funny, witty and quick, most of all she is knowledgeable and kind. She loves a glass of wine and a boogie in her kitchen.
Jacob works for his Dad for his construction firm, the intention is for him to take over the family business once he has learned the skills.
He has been tasked to build homes in the beautiful unspoilt village. Elsie and Jacob have sparks and they clash.
This is a great book with loads of plot and depth. I really really recommend this to you.
The Little Library on Cherry Lane is such a lovely charming story. I have to admit the cover sucked me in, it's a little tame for most love stories for me but it had so many components that I love a library, a shy, but strong heroine set amongst a beautiful setting and then a Mr. Fix It Jacob who has talents and skills also and together them make a great duo.
I underestimated this lovely story. But Elise had so much I loved about her, quiet, doesn't like the spotlight but what a dynamo. People could discount her if they weren't observant. They also if they paid attention would see the writing is more than you'd expect also by Katie Ginger because her character development is fantastic and she put enough tension between Elise and Jacob to keep the reader intrigued.
I loved this book, the passion for books and libraries women amongst the beautiful setting is a book that was delightful and beautiful.
I would like to thank NetGalley, the publisher HQ for the opportunity to read and review The Little Library on Cherry Lane.
This book is as lovely on the inside as it is on the outside. A truly heartwarming read that kept me turning the pages!!! I do love this author
