*Huge thanks to ‘HarperCollins’ and ‘Netgalley’ for providing me with an ebook for Review*

The Hunting party is very much a ‘whodunnit’. It follows a large cast of characters, a murder occurs, and they are all under suspicion. It's skillfully written with multiple POVs that fit together like a jigsaw.

I enjoyed the twists and turns and the overall mystery of the book. The audiobook performance was excellent, using a differing narrator for each POV.

My issues came with the characters and the setting. I didn’t connect with the characters at all. They seemed too far removed from my experience. I also did not like how the book was set in a hunting lodge and the hunting scene, although tastefully done, goes against my beliefs. Animals shouldn’t be hunted for fun.
Overall it’s a good thriller that will work for other people, but for me, the author has written better books.

I really enjoyed this audiobook - I liked the different narrators and I feel like they all fit the characters well. I did find it somewhat predictable. Even if you didn't know for sure what would happen, it was clear it would be this or that and none of the reveals felt particularly shocking. Maybe I completely missed them, but it felt like there were no small hints towards the reveals, we just had an oblivious character who stumbled upon things, usually because someone else told her rather than any deducing, which I prefer.

Over all, it was engaging enough to listen to and I am keen to read more from the author, but definitely as audiobooks as I know my brain won't be engaged enough to read physically

The Paris Apartment is another great thriller from Lucy Foley. We follow Jess who turns up in Paris to visit her brother Ben only to discover he's not there to welcome her as planned. Something isn't right and the inhabitants of the luxury apartment block in an affluent neighbourhood of the French capital are all strangely withdrawn. It soon becomes clear that they all have dark and sinister secrets they wish to keep buried.

I really enjoyed the short chapters and how they bounced from character to character so we were given their perspectives and activities in turn. I found the pace gripping as there were several twists and turns in events to keep your attention, along with a few faces cloaked in the dark alleyways. There are some dark plot lines in The Paris Apartment, possibly Lucy's darkest and most twisted ones yet.

As the reader you know that Ben has come to harm but by whose hands? Lucy masterfully puts each character in the frame as the guilty suspect so that's really enjoyable to sit it done so solidly.

I seemed to whizz through this latest novel from Lucy and I'm already looking forward to her next.

I really enjoyed this thriller. It had a really great and mysterious vibe the whole way through and had twists and turns - some expected, some not so much!

I liked the main character and I felt invested in her search for her brother and answers.

The Paris Apartment is a classic style slow burning, claustrophobic mystery which kept me on edge and constantly curious throughout.

While it may seem that not a lot actually happens within the first half of the book, Foley is cleverly crafting a web of mystery which unravels at the end for quite a few enjoyable ah-ha moments.

My favourite part of this book was the writing of the building itself. Lucy's luscious and detailed descriptions left me feeling like I was immersed in the penthouses' luxury, running across the open courtyard and skulking around the back stairs and cave.

I switched between my kindle and the audiobook and found the full cast to be fantastic and they really sunk the Parisienne aspect home.

An enjoyable mystery which had me fully immersed throughout.

After escaping her creepy manager at a bar job in Brighton, Jess travels to stay with her journalist brother, Ben, in Paris. However, when she arrives at Ben’s luxury apartment, he is nowhere to be found and has left behind most of his possessions. As she begins to uncover unsettling clues and meets the hostility of the building’s other residents, Jess works to uncover the mystery within the building to find her missing brother.

Like Foley’s previous thriller/murder mystery novels, The Paris Apartment is told from multiple points of view across the span of a few days. There is less timeline hopping here than in her previous work, giving it a more coherent and rapid drive towards its conclusions. The mystery here also feels more ambitious than in her previous books l, wrapping up a disappearance and possible murder with a family drama and journalistic investigation.

Of course in typical Lucy Foley fashion the plots all come together in a way which is very satisfying, but I found that in a change from her other books, she has shown us enough throughout the book so that the final plot twists don’t require the usual level of explanation of motives, which works to its advantage, and there are some unexpected twists and turns which I really enjoyed.

Overall the voice acting was fine, but I did get annoyed when the actors’ accents slipped (which becomes very noticeable when you listen to them for ten hours) and at the few more monotonous voices. However I really enjoyed the use of a cast of voice actors to voice the different perspectives given in the book, as it made listening to the story all the more engaging.

Thank you NetGalley and Harper Collins for kindly giving me the audiobook of The Paris Apartment in exchange for an honest review.

The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley and Narrated by: Clare Corbett, Daphne Kouma, Julia Winwood, Sope Dirisu, Sofia Zervudachi, Charlie Anson was Superb! I loved it. I was hooked from the very first chapter.

Jess is all excited about travelling from London to stay with her half brother Ben, especially as she needs to get away from everything. Ben lives at No.12 rue des Amants. This is an old beautiful apartment block, not far from the glittering lights of the Eiffel Tower and the bustling banks of the Seine ..........what a beautiful place to visit.
However, when Jess arrives at Ben's apartment he is not there and he does not materialise later that evening and she can not get hold of him. Jess feels something is wrong and has happened to Ben and starts to ask his neighbours if they have seen him and they are not very helpful and they are very unfriendly towards her.

Jess only needed a few nights away and spend time with Ben! But where is Ben?

What are his neighbours hiding from her?

Jess feels something is wrong and has happened to Ben and she starts to feel she is being watched!

Is she safe?

Jess finds herself in danger as she starts to ask more questions about Ben and the apartment he lives in

The Paris Apartment was a brilliant read and is full of great twists and turns throughout that will have you hooked like it did me. Lucy's books I have read have always been excellent and this one is just the same! Brilliant!

I highly recommend this book! and all the Narrators were brilliant as well.

Big Thank you to NetGalley and especially to Harper Collins UK Audio and HarperCollins, for the much appreciated arc in return for an honest review.

# The Paris Apartment

An apartment in Paris is the centre for a lot of nefarious deeds and suspicious characters. Jess is on her way to stay with her distant brother Ben, when he disappears. She arrives in the middle of a very confusing situation where she doesn’t know who to trust, who to avoid and which way to look in order to find her brother.

Foley truly knows how to create suspense, build an intricate mystery around a single point or person, that sucks everyone else in, one way or another. She created really intricate characters and you’re never quite sure where their intentions really lie. I loved the different narrators in the audiobook and I loved how their stories overlapped.

Jess is the perfect straight-man character, who jumps into a situation without any prior knowledge, so she’s the perfect window for the reader to also explore and try to guess what happened to her brother, Ben. I like that Jess is a character that follows her gut instincts, after a tragic experience in her childhood, which I would say definitely helps her in this new situation.

This novel takes you on a journey, where the characters make the best possible moves in each situation, so you’re not left tearing out your own hair because a character decided to do something foolish that you definitely wouldn’t have done in their situation.

This was my first mystery novel in quite a few years and it was such a welcome and pleasant experience that I will definitely be picking up a copy of Foley’s other work, as well as dipping my toe further in the genre!

This great author delivers again with a slow-burning, suspenseful and twisty murder-mystery thriller.

Jess has arranged to stay with her half-brother in Paris in his swanky new apartment. But when she arrives he isn't there and the neighbours haven't seen him. She finds herself trying to find out what has happened to him without knowing the area or the language, and with very little money after leaving England in a hurry.

Works very well as an audiobook with a great cast of narrators

REVIEW: The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley

In search of a fresh start, Jess travels to Paris to stay with her half brother Ben. The pair aren’t close but Jess is jobless and alone and hoping that Paris will give her a positive outlook. Only she arrives at Ben’s fancy apartment with no sign of him. The longer Ben stays missing, the more Jess starts to dig. Ben’s neighbours are an eclectic bunch, and not particularly friendly. Jess may have come to Paris to escape her past, but it’s starting to look like it’s Ben’s future that’s in question.
The socialite – The nice guy – The alcoholic – The girl on the verge – The concierge. Everyone’s a neighbour. Everyone’s a suspect. And everyone knows something they’re not telling.

This is my third Lucy Foley read and after enjoying the first two, I was very keen to read this one. I really enjoy how Lucy writes her thrillers from differing perspectives with each chapter building a piece of the puzzle. This one is particularly mysterious and eery.
I would say this wasn’t a favourite of mine. Whilst I found myself continuously reading because I did want to know how it would end, I found it exceptionally slow paced - it wasn’t until about halfway through that anything actually developed. I found Jess particularly frustrating, and it was difficult to be invested in a story when you can’t connect to the characters. I also would have loved to read more about Paris and the backdrop of the apartment.
Overall if you are a thriller fan, add this to your list!

I was very pleased to be selected to review the audio version of The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley. A big thank you to Netgalley and Harper Collins UK Audio. I've read Lucy's two most recent books: The Hunting Party and The Guest List. I was looking forward to this and The Paris Apartment doesn't disappoint. Lucy Foley is definitely earning her title as the modern day Agatha Christie.

The audio version has a star cast of Clare Corbett, Daphne Koumer, Julia Winwood, Sope Dirisu, Sofia Zervudachi and Charlie Anson, who together being the audio book alive with the different voices for each of the characters and was really well done. It was very pleasing to engage with the contacts and the voices seemed to fit well with how I imagined the characters to me. Its a very suspenseful, twisty whodunnit.

Jess turns up at the apartment of her half brother as she needed to escape from the UK with only the clothes on her back and a battered suitcase after a last minute call asking if she could stay. However when she gets to his apartment she cant find him and becomes intwined with the residents of this rather large apartment where he lives while she tries to find out what has happened to him. Everyone's a suspect!! All the characters are very different, and the book is very cleverly written from the point of each of them with different narrators for each character.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and believe it would make a good movie or tv show too. Look forward to reading the next book Lucy.

The Queen of thrillers has done it again! Loads of twists, loads of turns, loads of interesting characters and suspicions thrown into the mix and a LOT of plot twists!! I love Foley’s way of building lots of characters into the story and always second guessing the “whodunnit”.

Another well-written, thoroughly enjoyable story which I loved!

Thank you to Netgalley, Harper Collins Audio and Lucy Foley for an ARC in return for an honest review.

Lucy Foley does not disappoint. This book is set in beautiful Paris. This is a purposeful slow starter but it quickly ramps up. You just don't know who to trust. A dark, gritty psychological thriller which keeps you guessing until the end.

The narrators; Clare Corbett; Daphne Kouma; Julia Winwood; Sope Dirisu; Sofia Zervudachi; Charlie Anson really helped add tension and bring this book to life.

3-3.5 stars for this one. My first Foley! I enjoyed it, certainly didn't find myself getting annoyed whilst reading which is always a concern of mine when I start a Thriller ha.

The narrators certainly made the book easy and quick to read, I'm super glad I listened to this one rather than getting the kindle copy.

Not overly full of twists (which was refreshing actually) fairly obvious in parts but an interesting enough storyline to keep going!

Thanks to NetGalley, Harper Collins and Lucy Foley for an eAlc in exchange for an honest review.

The Paris Apartment follows Jess, a girl who arrives in Paris at her brother Ben's apartment, only to find that he has disappeared, and that his mysterious neighbours might know something about it.

I really enjoyed this book. The narration shifts between Jess and her brother's neighbours, and I loved how each of them was clearly untrustworthy and had secrets to hide. The shady characters, as well as the ominous setting and atmosphere, reminded me a lot of Riley Sager's Lock Every Door, so if you liked that book you should enjoy Foley's as well.

The plot was overall really good. Sometimes the pace was a little slow and not much happened, but there was a nice twist about halfway through, and the ending was also very unexpected for me. I thought I had it all figured out but I was pleasantly surprised!

The audiobook was also really well done, and a great way to enjoy this story. There were multiple narrators for all the different point of views, and each had a distinct voice and personality. They all did a fantastic job.

Jess' brother is missing from his apartment in Paris and she is determined to solve the mystery of his disappearance. The other occupants however aren't so keen on Jess figuring out their secrets..

This was a fast paced thriller from multiple perspectives that really kept me hooked from the start! The narrators voices were easy to tell apart and the French accents helped with feeling fully immersed in the story. The twists and turns came out of nowhere and I couldn't wait to find out the ending. Highly recommend to those who love mysteries and thrillers - 5 stars!

I thoroughly enjoyed this audio book - gripping and tense with lots of twists and turns. The characters are portrayed effectively and even when you think you know what has happened, there might still be twists to come.

The readers who portray the different narrators in the novel are all great, helping to cement the differences between the narrators.

The apartment is full of life and secrets. A very compelling, on the edge of your seat read. What more can a reader ask for in a story? It's very subtle the way storytelling, almost like a game of Clue. Everyone is a suspect in this apartment and everyone has a secret. Each character is well developed and the story had a steady pace.

This story was narrated by Clare Corbett, Daphne Kouma, Julia Winwood, Sope Dirisu, Sofia Zervudachi and Charlie Anson. They did a wonderful job. I love everyone's accent and amazing pronunciation of the French language which made the story more authentic.

Thank you to HarperCollins UK Audio, HarperCollins and NetGalley for letting me read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is definitely my favourite of Foley’s thrillers, it probably means more towards the murder mystery genre than her other books but there’s still plenty of tension and I do love a ‘who dunnit’!

The story is told from multiple points of view with a whole cast of dysfunctional characters, I really enjoyed finding out how interwoven and connected they all were.

Foley chooses another great setting which isn’t quite as restricted as in The Guest List of The Hunting Party but retains the atmospheric and claustrophobic feeling.

The story starts of slow though it’s an easy read and well worth the twists at the end. I would have liked more clues for the reader but there are several that help you out things together and make you go “ah ha” when all is revealed!

This worked brilliantly as an audiobook with each narrator does a great job of bringing their character to life. I was worried I would miss some of the clues and hints by listening to it instead of reading but thankfully that wasn’t the case.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
