I really loved the start of this book – and unusually actually found myself just a little tearful within the opening pages. Ivy has cared for her mother through the final stages of a long and debilitating illness, but it’s now all over and time for the funeral her mother had already planned in meticulous detail – and she’s not facing the day alone, as new friend Alex has taken it upon himself to be at her side, as well as all the support on hand from the wonderful community (almost her extended family…) of Mermaids Point.
She then, of course, needs to start her life again – but there are complications her mother hadn’t foreseen when Ivy’s father re-emerges, and it becomes clear that her financial situation and future security aren’t going to be quite as comfortable as she’d hoped for. She already knew there might have been some problems with her hopes to buy the town’s rundown bookshop, as she knew Alex was also interested in it too – but it would have been so perfect to be able to take on the business and sell her crafts there too. But there’s then an obvious answer – Alex can go ahead with the purchase, but she can have space within the shop to sell her wares, and they can run the business together.
Alex is running away from his former life – and a particularly painful failed marriage – and, like brother Tom before him, a fresh start at Mermaids Point is just what he needs. And as he and Ivy work together towards opening the shop, they begin to grow closer – they both rather need each other, and it looks (for a while) as if they’ll move forward smoothly towards their own happy ending. But Ivy doesn’t know about Alex’s success as an author, with a book that’s caused a bit of a sensation based around his marriage break-up – and when she finds out, and that he hasn’t told her about it, she wonders if she’s just being used as material for his next book and whether she was wrong about him all along.
Above all, this book is a quite gorgeous and beautifully developed romance – both Ivy and Alex (despite his secrets) are such lovely individuals, I enjoyed their every interaction and act of kindness to each other, and you can’t help but feel that they’re meant to be together. Their growing closeness is authentic and believable, as their friendship begins to become something more – and the conflict, when it comes, is particularly well-handled and you can see the problem from both their perspectives, wondering how on earth there can be any possibility of a happy ending.
Do you know, if the right house came up for sale, I’d rather like to move to Mermaids Point. While Alex and Ivy are always the focus of the story – and that’s why this book would work particularly well as a stand-alone read – there are plenty of opportunities to feel part of the warm and caring community the author’s created and developed, and (if you’ve spent time here before) to meet up with the wider cast who now feel like good friends. Spending time within the community just makes you feel good – and that makes spending time there such a pleasure.
This was my favourite book yet from the author – this series really just gets better and better. Highly recommended – and I’m now very much looking forward to Nick’s story…
This is the third full book in the Mermaids Point stories from the pen of talented author Sarah Bennett (there was also a novella at Christmas), and I have to say, Mermaids Point is definitely one of my favourite fictional locations, and I really wish it was a place I could go to. The community spirit is a wonderful element of these stories, and just like the characters living in Mermaids Point, reading this series is an enveloping hug of love, acceptance and community, and an absolute joy to read. Although you could read this as a standalone, you would be cheating yourself out of the beauty of reading the series in order, which I can highly recommend.
In this book, we get the story of Alex and Ivy, and this was a story I had been waiting impatiently for from the moment they met earlier in the series. As characters, the chemistry between Alex and Ivy sizzles deliciously, but as with life, things do not always go to plan, and there were some issues that cause the path of true love to run not so smoothly.
I loved the location of the bookshop that Alex buys (how I wish I could buy a bookshop!), and the way in which he immediately brings Ivy on board given their corresponding visions of what the shop could be for the community. I also adored the feline addition to the story, the appropriately named Lucifer!
The storyline involving Ivy’s feckless father and his girlfriend Wendy (the other woman), was an interesting storyline, although let’s just say my opinion of him from the outset didn’t change as the story progressed.
Love Blooms at Mermaids Point is a wonderful addition to this delightful series, and I can’t wait for the next book to come later this year!
My second book by Sarah and again I totally loved it.
The main characters of this story are Alex and Ivy but all the familiar characters from the previous book are here too and it was lovely to return to Mermaids Point and to meet them all again.
A nice easy read and I can't wait for my books by Sarah in this series.
Highly recommend and definitely worthy of five stars.
Sarah Bennet is one of my favourite romance authors (she may have the most appearances on my blog) and the Mermaids Point series is definitely a firm favourite with me so I was so excited to be back again, visiting old friends (and a few newer ones).
The Mermaid’s Point series works in any order. Each novel has a focus on a different character but is linked by location and other recurring characters from previous books, so it doesn’t really matter what order you read in. The main benefit from reading in order is chronology as it does put things into a timeline, and you may find out how a previous book ended by where the characters are later in time. To be fair – you can’t stop at one anyway so you may as well just resign yourself to the fact that resistance is futile, and you will read them all.
This is Ivy and Alex’s story. Ivy has recently lost her mother and is trying to grieve whilst thinking about taking over the bookshop. Alex is struggling after coming out of bad marriage and is spending time in Mermaids Bay whilst considering a new business venture. Can they both heal their broken hearts, or will other things come between them?
I loved Ivy and Alex. I loved how Alex was dealing with his own issues but knew Ivy would need a firm hand and some support. Alex and ivy had strong chemistry between them and I enjoyed the journey of their growing relationship from friends who realised they felt more than just friendship for each other. They are both sweet characters and I found myself rooting for them from the beginning. It was so much fun seeing recurring characters too and finding new bits of information out about how their lives were going.
I felt completely welcomed back to Mermaids Point with open arms and it’s just like belonging to a community. I love the place! It sounds so picturesque and quaint and it is definitely somewhere to visit.
I also adore books about bookshops!
I had a great time visiting Mermaids Bay again and I highly recommend you escape there yourselves for a while.
After having read the previous instalments and the preview about Alex and Ivy's story that you can find in the Christmas novella (Christmas Surprises at Mermaids Point), I was so excited to read this new book in the series and it didnt disappoint at all!! Alex and Ivy might be my favourite characters so far, but it was also nice to reconnect with the others.
This book can be read as a stand-alone, but i would suggest to read the whole series for maximum enjoyment,
Can't wait for the next one!
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Just a lovely light romance.
Would like to see where to author goes in the future books.
Ivy looses her mum to cancer and Alex comes to give her support. Her life gets turned upside down when her absent father can claim half of her cottage. Alex has a solution but will it work for their non-serious relationship.
Enjoyed this immensely.
Love Blooms at Mermaids Point by Sarah Bennett is a great contemporary romance that is the third book in the amazing Mermaids Point series.
I have read, and loved every book that is a part of this truly magical amd wonderfully uplifting series. It is hard to find books that have a positive and optimistic feel and Ms. Bennett always brings that home for me.
Ivy Fisher and Alex Nelson are both perfect additions, in regards to their respective stories, to the charming village of Mermaids Point. Both come into the narrative with past problems, disappointments, losses, and chinks in their armor. I enjoyed the “enemies to friends to blossoming romance” concept used, and it worked well in their situation. Toss in some additional obstacles tossed onto the path on their way to their happily ever after, and a great book is found.
It was so great to visit the quaint, picturesque, unique, and gorgeous village of Mermaids Point again.
5/5 stars
Thank you NG and Boldwood Books for this wonderful arc and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.
I am posting this review to my GR and Bookbub accounts immediately and will post it to my Amazon, Instagram, and B&N accounts upon publication on 3/16/22.
A return to Mermaid's Point to hear the story of Ivy and the very delectable Alex, Tom's brother. One of my favourite fictional places in the world!. Oh how I'd love to visit!. It is a beautiful, tear provoking story but with the characters we know and love from the previous book intertwined, it's a joy to read. It's like sitting down to find out all the local gossip with a group of dear friends!. I'm heavily invested in this series already and hope that there's another one?........Please??!!!!
Here's the info so you can be hooked like me and go buy this book!!!......
Ivy is coming to terms with her mother's death and all that that entails, when on the day before the funeral, in walks Alex to support her through this rough time. Alex is the little brother of Tom, the new doctor. He has become a friend to Ivy when he's visited and his support means a lot. He's there by her side all day and keeps in touch when he has to go back to London. After hearing about poor Ivy's dilemma, he makes a decision to buy the bookshop in town which has been on his mind a lot after he spoke with the old owner. They start a tentative relationship. Alex's past comes and bites him right on the backside when all was going so well. Will they survive??.
Many thanks to Netgalley for the free ARC book for an honest review.

Today I am so excited to be helping kick off the latest blog tour for the wonderful Sarah Bennett, I have struggled with my reading mojo recently so it is always a pleasure to pick up a book that you know will instantly capture you. As we return to Mermaids Point we pick up where we left off with Alex looking to purchase the old bookshop that Ivy had got her eye on.
A story tinged with sadness throughout as Ivy losses her Mum and her whole world implodes around her, yet the community pull together to try and offer her the space and support she needs to grieve and find her way forward.
It was great to get to know Alex and keep learning about what makes him tick whilst spending much more time with Ivy as she tries to find out her new direction. A story that will capture your heart straight away and leave you keen to keep reading. I just love it when a book calls your name everytime you sit down and this book kept just dragging me back to it.
I loved my latest visit to Mermaids Point, this seaside destination reminds me a lot of the village that I grew up as it only ever came to life in the summer months. A wonderful destination, with descriptions that jump off of the page and a superb host of characters that I have totally fallen in love with.
The emotional opening of Love Blooms at Mermaids Point completely pulled me into the story. I felt as if I was right there with the characters. Seeing people be there for each other whether it was through friendships or community spirit. I’ve probably said this before about this series but I love the family dynamics and friendships. They genuinely shine through on every single page. This made me feel like I really got to know them as I experience the ups and downs of their lives. It was also really lovely to catch up with the characters from previous books. However I do feel all of the books in the series work well as standalones. So don’t worry about any confusion picking up this book. What I will say is I am thoroughly enjoying the Mermaids Point series so if you do get chance, I recommend starting with book one.
A special mention has to go to Alex, sigh. I think I fell for him from the first few pages. I loved Alex and Ivy’s connection and how Sarah Bennett gave them a strong foundation of friendship that blossomed into something so romantic. There was a certain charm to the story that wrapped me up and gave me both warmth and comforting moments. The pacing of the story was just right. I felt involved in the characters day to day lives along with seeing Ivy and Alex start afresh after the heartbreaks and setbacks in their lives. The friendships, romance and of course a little bit of drama helped to create a rounded and entertaining story. In Love Blooms at Mermaids Point you will find a gorgeous combination of loveable characters, heartwarming moments and emotional connections. I loved it!
I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher through netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book is well written and the characters are described well. This book will bring tears to your eyes. I absolutely adored Ivy and Alex's characters. The friendships in this book is phenomenal. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat from the first page. This is the third book in this series and I can't wait to read the first and second book to get to know the characters better. Overall this book is phenomenal. I can't wait to read more books by this author in the near future. I would recommend reading this book to anyone and everyone. This ebook will be in stores on March 16, for £2.99 (GBP).
Thank you #netgalley and #boldwoodbooks for allowing me to read this ARC.
I just love Sarah Bennetts sweet, easy flowing style. I read this book in two sittings.
The story centres around Ivy who has just lost her mother and is grieving heavily, trying to rebuild her life after loss. Alex is by her side as much as she will let him. Her trust issues stem from being deserted by her father at a young age.
Mermaids Point is a very close knit community with friendships that are deep, loving and supportive.
When you have walls around you, can love help knock them down?
Sometimes you have to delve deep into yourself and let go of the things that hold us back. trust is one of those things that is hard to rediscover once shattered.
An enjoyable read, that will touch your heart and make you want to live at Mermaids Point.
LOVE BLOOMS AT MERMAIDS POINT by SARAH BENNETT.
The story begins on the day of Ivy’s mother’s funeral. The whole village turn out to pay their respects and to support Ivy, including one less than welcome face.
Ivy is lost without her mother to care for. She also faces the prospect of losing the only home she’s ever known.
Where will life lead Ivy to now?
Alex, the younger brother of dishy Dr Tom, is a struggling author. He is moving to Mermaids Point for a fresh start and to hopefully own and run a book shop.
There are shadows from Alex’s past that are never too far away.
Since they first met, there has been an obvious spark between Alex and Ivy. Can they help each other to heal and maybe find love along the way?
It has been an absolute joy to take a trip back to Mermaids Point. I loved Alex and Ivy’s story, which evolved so naturally and with great tenderness.
It was also good to catch up with familiar faces and to see how life is treating them too.
There was some sadness and ghosts from the past to put to rest, but overwhelmingly this book is full of love and happiness. There are some laughs along the way too.
Lucifer the local cat, was a great addition to the story with all her antics and as always the knitting group who meet in the café were a hoot.
Sarah Bennett creates the most welcoming and warm sense of community in Mermaids Point. It’s a seaside village, full of good people who are all tied together by the strongest bonds of family and friendships.
This is a book that will take you away to a happier place. It will wrap you up in it’s cosy warmth and leave the real world far away.
Although this is book three in the Mermaids Point series, not forgetting the super novella that was squeezed in after book two, you can read this as a stand alone story. Seriously though, if you are new to Mermaids Point, go back to book one, Summer Kisses At Mermaids Point, and enjoy this delight of a series from the start.
So, Love Blooms At Mermaids Point…. It’s utterly gorgeous and will fill your heart with warm and fuzzies.
Five glorious stars from me.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book is part of the Mermaids Point series of books. It can be read as a standalone book but it is such an amazing series and I highly recommend reading them.
Each book focuses on different characters, this time it is the turn of Ivy and Alex. They have appeared in some of the earlier books, and we get to know them better in this book. Most of the previous characters also appear in this book and it is nice to catch up with them.
This is a really sweet and enjoyable read. I managed to read it in an afternoon, I couldn't stop reading it. It is an uplifting and feel-good read, perfect for Springtime. The book cover is so gorgeous too.
Ivy and Alex are very likeable characters and I wanted them to have a happy outcome.I love the setting of Mermaids Point and I would love to visit Mermaids Tales and Treasures and eat cakes in Laurie's Cafe. I am really looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for my ARC.
Another in the Mermaids Point book and it is just as good as the others. This can be read as a standalone but very enjoyable as a series. Love these and I hope there will be many more to follow. I would love to live in a place like this. Well worth 5 stars.
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this e ARC
Another sweet story in this series: lovely setting, likeable characters, a plot that kept me hooked.
I rooted for Alex and Ivy and loved to be back to Mermaids Point.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
This is the 5th in the series and I have loved each and everyone, each character is written wonderfully and you get really into the story and their lives, I enjoy the crossover of characters they really start to feel like family, curl up and enjoy!
A new gorgeous instalment in Sarah Bennett's much beloved Merpaid Point series!
If you're already a fan of the series you'll be delighted with Ivy Fisher and Alex Nelson's story. If you haven't read the previous book and are wondering if this one can be read as a standalone, yes, absolutely. Sarah provides a very helpful list of characters and family connections to make you feel welcome to this lovely seaside community. As usual there is plenty of drama to keep you on the edge of your seat.
First of all, I absolutely adored the cover- it is so sweet and optimistic, bit of a warm hug we all need from time to time!
The beginning of the book was very emotional- Ivy has just lost her mother and the community rallies behind her to help her through the funeral day. Among the people who are there for her is Alex, although grief-struck Ivy may not always know what to think or feel at his trying time. Both Alex and Ivy have set their sights on bying the town bookshop. Don't worry, things work out perfectly well and we see the beginning of a great partnership, which leads to so much more after the necessary twists and turns!
It is difficult not to root for these two characters. Ivy hasn't had the easiest life and her estranged father is going to throw a couple more spanners in the works. Can you blame her for having some trust issues? Alex's bestseller is based on his heartfelt semi-fictional account of his own bitter divorce story. We get to know both Ivy and Alex's personalities and motivations in depth. There are other well-written secondary characters as well- both new and recurring.
I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful slow-burn romance in its charming setting and would love nothing better than to return to Mermaids Point in Sarah's next book!
I adore the mermaid point series and this is a great edition. The characters have all found a special place in my heart so it's always lovely to travel to see them again. I thought this book was a great addition to the storyline and can't wait to see where the story will take us next.
This is the fourth book in a series about events in the lives of people living in the lovely seaside town of Mermaids Point. In the first three books, readers have got to know several recurring characters, as well as newcomers, who are always welcomed in by the caring community. All of the books can be read as stand-clones, but I would advise reading them all in order, as they make up an enjoyable and satisfying saga. The author has thoughtfully provided at the beginning of the book a list of characters and their place in the stories as an aide memoire for returning readers and a guide for those new to the series. In common with earlier books in the series, this one has an attractive and inviting cover depicting the story’s setting. As anticipated, I was drawn into this latest story from the very beginning and eagerly followed events therein.
This is the story of writer Alex Nelson, a relatively new visitor to Mermaids Point, and local girl Ivy Fisher, who has just lost her mother after a long illness. Alex has met seamstress and craft enthusiast Ivy on previous visits to the town and has found himself intrigued and attracted to her. He is also drawn to the warm and peaceful atmosphere of Mermaids Point itself. Looking for a new start near to his brother who has taken over as Mermaids Point’s GP, Alex sets his sights on the town’s rundown bookshop, which is currently for sale. However, he has no idea that Ivy had plans for the building. She is disappointed not to be in a position to buy the shop, but she and Alex reach an agreement to run their businesses together there. It looks as though there may be more than a business relationship developing between the pair, but a revelation about Alex’s past makes Ivy suspect that she may not know the real man at all.
As with the previous three books in this series, I thoroughly enjoyed this one and found it a quick and easy read, not wishing to put it down until its conclusion. Once again, I was pulled into the lives of the characters and attracted to the town itself, with its welcoming feel. The story this time had Alex and Ivy centre stage, with some but not a great deal of involvement from other recurring characters. I felt for Ivy with difficulties caused by her estranged father heaped on top of her grief, but I also felt that Alex would be there to shield her when needed - what a supportive character. Even with lots going on in his life, he was so considerate of her needs. Just as in her other books, Sarah Bennett has succeeded in drawing the reader into the world of her characters, feeling their every emotion. I can’t wait to find out what she has in store next for the inhabitants of Mermaids Point.
