I’ve quickly become obsessed with this series! I love it, everything about it is easy to read and enjoyable. I can’t wait for what’s next.
After losing her mum, Ivy Fisher finds herself in need of a direction in life. She toys with the idea of buying the local bookshop with her inheritance, but circumstances are such that Alex Nelson buys the bookshop instead of her. Can she put her disappointment behind her, and put herself first in love and life again?
Alex Nelson is a published author. Can Mermaids Point provide him with the space he needs to write the next book he is contracted for, or will the bookshop (and new friends) be too much of a distraction?
I really enjoyed this book, however felt I was at quite a major disadvantage not having read any others in the series prior to this. I found it quite a tricky book to get into as in instantly throws you in with a lot of characters that the author assumes you already know. I would certainly recommend reading the earlier ones before this, as it was a bit off putting. That said, once I had figured everyone out, I really liked the relationships between families and friends. I did feel that the ending was a bit rushed but I can't wait to see how the main two characters of Ivy and Alex carry on into the next instalment!
A very happy read, enjoying the wittiness and friendliness of Ivy, Alex and their friends. Who wouldn't want to run a bookshop?!
What I also appreciate is that, despite this being a romance novel, there is more to this book than happy endings which would make it unrealistic and way too sweet.
However, I feel the need to share my unhappiness about the knitting club being full of 'busybodies' and 'old elephant ears'. As if book club members are all saints and never gossip?
I'd like to dare the author of this lovely book to come up with some classy characters similar to people in Love Blooms In Mermaid Point who also happen to be knitters or perhaps even spinners!
And perhaps a bit more diversity, possibly even adding someone who is chronically ill :)
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book.
After Ivy loses her mother, she thinks about buying the bookshop in town, until newcomer Alex beats her to it. She is dealing with a lot, and he is there to help, but he is keeping secrets so what will happen when they re revealed in the worst possible way?
I liked how it is told from both their points of view. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
