This audio version was fabulous. I’ve read the book and the audio voice was just perfect for Molly. I found myself stopping what I was doing on so many occasions just to listen! Perfect

Molly Gray takes immense pride in her work as a maid at The Regency Grand Hotel. She struggles with social skills and misreads the intentions of others. After finding the body of a VIP guest at the hotel, she’s thrust into the heart of a murder investigation.
Molly is the sweetest of the sweet. The novel is quirky, lighthearted and fun, so much more than a murder mystery, with themes of kindness and friendship at its heart. I felt Molly’s character came to life early on and I was rooting for her throughout.
It was a little predictable for me and with a murder mystery I usually expect a jaw dropping moment, but nonetheless it’s a heartwarming enjoyable read.
The book definitely gave me Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine vibes. If you enjoyed that I think you’d enjoy this!

This just wasn't for me unfortunately!
As far as the audiobook and the narrator are concerned, it was enjoyable and engaging.
But I couldn't get engrossed in this book - I found it a bit predictable and there was nothing shocking about the ending. I would have enjoyed if the maid was more complicit in what happened. But thank you for allowing me to review this!

I listened to the audiobook version of this novel and absolutely loved it!
Molly is truly a unique character, I loved her use of language and the narrator chosen for this does an outstanding job, has smooth, pleasant t voice that fits in so well with the protagonist.
Highly recommended.
Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for letting me review this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Think this is so far my favourite read of 2022!! One I will be going back to time and time again. So far read the book and listened to the audiobook. All I can say is FABULOUS

I guess audiobooks just aren't for me. But this book sounded so good I went & got the print version. Did not disappoint. Great plot, believable characters and a very entertaining read. Absolutely loved it and would recommend

This one’s a surprisingly heartwarming mystery with a unique lead character you won’t forget in a hurry!
Molly the maid (yes, really) isn’t like everybody else. She doesn’t always understand the nuance of human connection and emotion, but what she does know is how to clean! She’s incredibly proud of the way she returns the rooms at the Regency Grand Hotel to a state of perfection, just like her gran taught her. But when she finds a dead body in one of the rooms, she finds out that some of the new friends she’s made may have taken advantage of her unique personality - and now she’s a prime suspect…
Niche reference, but if anyone is a Walking Dead fan, basically imagine Molly as a female Eugene and you have some idea of her very literal approach to life! I loved her - whilst she’s not necessarily warm, she is so clearly desperate for love and affection and that can blind her to the bad in people. I found the story around the loss of her gran especially moving, as she was one of the few people who truly understood her and accepted her as she was.
When it comes to the mystery element of the book, it was great fun but as a reader you will understand what’s going on much earlier than Molly - you almost find yourself shouting at her through the pages like ‘NO Molly don’t do it!’ 😂 The majority of the plot it’s pretty clear what’s going on, but then there are a couple of unexpected twists at the end which I didn’t see coming!
Mostly though, the joy in this book is in Molly finally finding genuine human connection, and then getting her payback on those who’ve taken advantage of her - it’s not your usual hero story, but that’s what makes it so special! I really enjoyed this original story.

I enjoyed this one and the narrator was good. Warmed to the main character. Liked the cover too.
I would recommend for an easy read thriller

The Maid by Nita Prose
“I don’t cut corners, I shine them.”
Molly Gray, twenty five, is a maid at the Regency Grand Hotel. She loves her job – She delights in in donning her uniform, stocking her cart, and returning guest rooms to a state of perfection. Molly is not like everyone else. She struggles with social skills and misreads the intentions of others. Her gran used to interpret the world for her, codifying it into simple rules that Molly could live by but since her Gran died a few months ago, Molly has been navigating life’s complexities all by herself. But Molly’s life is upended the day she enters the suite of the infamous wealthy Charles Black only to find himself dead in his bed. Before she knows what’s happening, Molly’s unusual demeanour has the police targeting her as their lead suspect. She quickly finds herself caught in a web of deception; one she has no idea how to untangle. Fortunately for Molly, friends she never knew she had unite with her in a search for clues to what really happened to Mr. Black—but will they be able to find the real killer before it’s too late?
This charming debut brings a new unique perspective to your typical murder mystery. This isn’t a typical thriller; I did find it slower paced but it was so wonderful to read about Molly and her individuality. I loved her development across the chapters and recollection of ‘life lessons’ instilled in her by her grandmother.
“Gran used to say, Never mind what others think; it's what you think that matters. And I agree. One must live by their own moral code, not follow like a sheep blindly.”
The last quarter of the book was wonderful, and I couldn’t put it down. Molly forms unlikely alliances and through these social interactions she leans a lot about herself and the difficult situation she is in. It was hear warming to read.
This isn’t your typical fast paced shocking thriller – it had a lot of depth and character development and I highly recommend it!

4.5 STARS
Molly (Molly he Maid) works at the Regency Grand Hotel. The way the author describes her actions and thoughts made me believe Molly is on the spectrum.
Everybody treats her like a weirdo and takes advantage of her. Then she discovers a a guest dead in his room and somehow she ends up being the main suspect.
Loved the book. Very engaging . I knocked it half a point because the epilogue let me down. I don't think it was needed.

When Molly, the maid, finds a dead body in one of her allocated suites to clean, it soon becomes apparent that there is a lot more to the hotel that she works in than just highflying clients and invisible staff.
But when Molly is accused of murder, she must find out who her real friends are and find the people she can trust to uncover the truth of what is really going on in her place of work.
I found this novel to have a slow narrative, however an interesting read, with a lot of depth to the character of Molly and a few twists that I did not see coming. Prose writes for the reader to feel a tender, innocent and vulnerable emotion towards the main character, that when things are turn around I found myself cheering her on, and wanting to fist pump the air!
I was very invested in Molly!
I found each character relevant and each bringing their own personality as well as narrative which brought the narrative along.
So although this was a little slower pace for me that I like, I would still recommend this and just tell readers to keeo going, because it is worth it.

Probably 3.75 stars, it is an interesting read. Molly the Maid is a unique and unreliable narrator. It is implied that she is neuro-divergent from her inner monologue, her actions and her obsessions. The way others interact with Molly, some taking advantage, some bullying, some making assumptions and some being deeply fond and protective of her was, for me at least. the more interesting part of this book. The actual murder mystery didn't really peak my interest in the same way as the characters did. I didn't guess the culprit and the twist but I don't feel like I was meant to and that is ok as the book still ended in a satisfying way..

I would say this is less thriller, more character study, it was slower in pace, but my gosh I was here for it!
Molly is a maid, she is often overlooked as she moves around the hotel, people take advantage of her and she isn't the best at judging characters. This leads her down a path that isn't the best, especially as a hotel guest has been murdered and she is trusting everyone!
Think Eleanor Oliphant, but with a crime being investigated at the same time. Molly was a fabulous character, I wanted to hug her and shake her at the same time, but I just loved reading this one and would definitely recommend.

We follow Molly the Maid as she tries to remember her day and the events bringing to her discovery of the wealthy Mr. Black’s body upon entering his suite.
Molly is a sweet girl who really likes her job as a maid. But she is also socially impaired and doesn’t understand if people laugh with or at her. Through her eyes we relive the day and some other prior events and we see some hints she might have missed or misunderstood.
I appreciated the point of vue of a main character not seeing life as most of us would. She has a sweet and innocent way to see people and understand situations. However, this didn’t make the book and the twists any easier to spot in my eyes. I would consider it a cute cosy mystery.

Thank you to net galley for the Audio version of The Maid.
This had me hooked from the very beginning and the whole way through.
I couldn't wait to get back to the story when I had other stuff to do because it was always in my head. Such a great murder mystery it had me begging for more. I fell in love with Molly the maid. The maid that knows about their secrets but nobody knows the maid! Would highly recommend

Really great read with a great narrator!
Initially I was unsure of the narrator, but as you get to know the character it all makes sense and really develops as Molly's character develops.
Great murder mystery style read based on Molly, a unique character, who enjoys cleaning and enjoys her job as a maid in a prestige hotel. With her unique character traits bring lots of trouble from those who take advantage of her and she is set up and charged for murder and more of a hotel guest. As unique as her character is, you fully relate to her and understand how she got in the position she is in!
Good read, highly recommend. thanks to NetGalley and Publisher for allowing me to review this audio version of this ARC.

I really enjoyed the audiobook for this book, I felt the narrator was great and really embodied the protagonist and her thoughts well which is especially important when narrating a neurodivergent character. I enjoyed the story and seeing the way that Molly was tied into the murder. I thought the backstory of her Gran was fascinating and it was sad to see her trying to navigate her life without her Gran around but still consistently referring back to her prior guidance to get her through her situations. I enjoyed the setting of the hotel and the found family aspect to the story but I was let down by the mystery as I personally enjoy a shocking plot twist and I don't feel this story delivered on that but it would be great for a reader who isnt partilcularly bothered by that. I also found some of the lines said closer to the end to be so incredibly cringey, it felt like some of the conversations were being held by children which I couldn't grasp the reason for. Overall a fun thriller but nothing extraodinary.

I adored this book. The story was so heart warming and an absolute dream to read I few through the audio book which was brilliantly read and really bought the characters to life for me. Molly is just one of my favourite characters of all time. Would highly recommend.

#NetGalley for let me listen to the lovely AudioBook.

Molly Gray is a maid at the Regency Grand Hotel and she couldn’t be more happy about her position. Her obsessive love for cleaning and proper etiquette go hand in hand with her occupation. She loves and thrives in her workplace. Her social skills and understanding of social cues are a constant struggle for her however, something that her dear Gran helped her cope with, up until a few months ago when she passed away. Now Molly is completely alone, trying to navigate the world on her own, throwing her herself at her work. Her orderly world is once again thrown upside down though, when she discovers the body of one the wealthiest guests of the hotel murdered at his room. Soon she finds herself more and more entwined with the mystery than she wanted to be and maybe even accused of the heinous crime herself.
This was a charming and heartwarming cozy murder-mystery with a diverse cast of characters and shocking revelations at the end of it. The audiobook was fantastic. The narrator, Lauren Prose did an amazing job and really brought these characters to life, especially our protagonist, with whom I felt so connected to that I was sad to let her go after the audiobook was finished.
Molly is a very unique main character, with many ‘quirks’ if I may label them as such. Having some severe social issues, she seemed to me at least as a neurodivergent or autistic person. However, she was not explicitly labelled as such on the book so I cannot be sure. Having this in mind I just couldn’t fathom why some people didn’t understand her behaviour and manners and I was aghast to see how many others took advantage of her. I felt heartbroken at her loss of her grandma which was her co-navigator in life and I wanted her to succeed despite everything that was thrown her way, making her characterisation remarkable in my opinion.
The mystery at the core of this book was well-thought out and planned with many twists and revelations even at the last chapters. When suspicion fell on Molly being the perpetrator of the crime- due to some unwise choice of friends on her part- the people who truly care about her came to her rescue and together they slowly unravel the truth behind the crime. It was a quick read with short chapters and it was extremely easy to get through, not only because you wanted to find out what really happened but because you cared about Molly and wanted her to find her place in the world.
Apart from the mystery which was well-done and intriguing enough up until the very end, this book also explored themes of loneliness and invisibility which made the novel heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. All in all, I really enjoyed my time reading this book, especially due to the excellent audiobook performance.
