I loved this book, in fact I love all Lynda La planets books. Having read most of them. This series does not disappoint and is as gripping as her other characters. Loved it and would highly recommend.

I have never read a book of Lynda La Plante's that I did not enjoy. This book does not disappoint. Could not get to the next chapter fast enough and kept me up until late as I could not out this down. Brilliant read!

A superb addition to this series of books.
Vanished is book 3, I have just read books 2, 3 and 4 back to back and found each one a thrilling, exciting read.
Superb story line and great characters.
My attention was held throughout this book

LLP is a very talented author and I certainly look forward to hopefully reading more in this series in the future.

This book was a slow burner for me. I enjoyed seeing the relationship between Jack and his fiancée Maggie progress and his Mum who lived with them and how she spotted into their lives.
There were some great characters but none who I really felt a connection with. Good ending but I was only gripped in the last 25% of the book.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bonnier Books for the opportunity to read an advance copy in return for my honest review

I’ve never actually read La Plante and this finally gave me opportunity - well, she’s deft and engaging and it gripped me to the end. Warr is a character I’m going to read again after this. (Maybe too much going on with his upcoming marriage and vicissitudes but its okay - in a way, I’ll look forward to next time. Complex but LaPlante helps us track everything along the way - and working relationships are effective - not always the case in police novels. I am glad I took the plunge with this one!

Lynda La Plante is always fantastic in whatever she writes and this one is no exception. I haven't read this particular series of hers but after this I will be going back and reading the rest.

This book was such a gripping read. I was hooked from the beginning. It was very detailed and was packed full of twists and turns. The story was entertaining and I was not expecting what was going to happen at all. This book includes a murder and drug storyline which only gets more complex as the story goes on. Although this is part of a series, it can easily be read as a stand-alone (I do want to go back and read the others now).

I thought Detective Warr was a great main character, he is determined and a intelligent person. I liked reading about his family life as well. We got to read about a variety of different characters in this book, some were criminals who I wasn’t sure who I wanted Detective Warr to trust.

I thought this was a great book, it was full of excitement and drama. When I first started reading it, I thought it would take me a while to get through it but once the drama started (which didn’t take long), I flew through it. It was so easy to read and I highly recommend this book and author.

It has been quite a time since I read a La Plante novel and I realise I have some catching up to do.
I thoroughly enjoyed this 3rd Jack Warr book, which griped me from start to finish. It read well even as a standalone.
In the thick of a drugs related murder, there are carefully entwinned links. The daughter of his partner’s boss as well as the son of the murdered widow he had been investigating art theft with. Complicated further by the drug’s team leading the investigation.
There were loads of avenues to run down and investigate adding to multiple layers of information and potential implicated individuals to keep you guessing.
Jack has a calm and measured demeanour, most of the time. He is balanced and keen to delve until he achieves justice. He has a close working relationship with his boss, who is not himself… He is planning his marriage to Laura, which seemed maybe an element too much, but safe to say there is lots going on. Laura whilst very devoted and supportive, didn’t have a very strong character in this edition at least, but with that there is scope for her character to develop.
The plot has depth and complication, the characters were memorable, there were good twists and reveals as part of the final build up. Some parts of the book are very dark and satisfyingly gory. A good denouement with more to come. Thoroughly recommend.

Great story really enjoyed though I felt I needed to read the previous books to get the back story but hopefully a book 4 on it’s way

Throughly enjoyable book with DS Warr again,

The character is being built nicely and that, teamed with a good plot and lovely writing style makes for an excellent book.

Kept me gripped.

This is my first Lynda LaPlante book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I did not realise this was the third book in the Jack Warr series so it’s a complete standalone book too.

Detective Jack Warr is sent to investigate claims by an old eccentric widow that she is being terrorised in her home and burgled on a regular basis.
After meeting her a few times her dismembered body is discovered and Jack must figure out who killed her. Jack, his wife Maggie, mother Penny and boss Ridley are all very likeable characters but there are definitely many layers to Jack’s character that are still to be discovered.
Already looking forward to the next book in the series!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bonnier Books for letting me review this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Third instalment in La Plante’s police detective Jack Warr series, which itself is a follow-up to her Widows’ books. Warr investigates reports by an eccentric widow that she is being stalked. Days later she is found brutally murdered. With links to an international drugs gang, Jack needs to track down her mysterious stalker. An intriguing plot with many interwoven stands that come nicely together for a satisfying conclusion.

The third in the series featuring detective Jack Warr. Although this could be read as a standalone, it was a good read and the authors fans will enjoy it.

Vanished

This is my first novel by Lynda as I’m not normally a deceive thriller kind of girl. However how can any girl not fall in love with Jack Warr. It didn’t matter that I hadn’t read the previous 2 novels it was just as good a read.
Jack is the police officer you want investigating your crime. He never gives up and gives 100% ensuring if not somewhat unorthodox approach to finding his man.
Follow jack and his team across Europe and Ireland to hunt down the murderer of one bad ass old lady. With so many twists and turns from art forgery to drug smuggling and murder. I could not put this book down. Enjoy.

A gruesome murder of an elderly woman leads to a huge drugs find within the grounds of her house. The question that puzzles the police is was she involved or unaware of what was going on around her? DS Jack Warr is determined to find the culprit but the drugs investigation seems to be the priority.
There are various sub plots and everything moves very swiftly, overall a good read

I cannot believe this is the first Lynda La Plante book I’ve read. I’ve watched many of her dramas on TV and enjoyed them but just never gotten around to reading her books. After this one I certainly will remedy that.
I was hooked from the first page and struggled to put it it down. I loved her writing style and found the book so easy to read.
Loved the characters, especially Detective Jack Warr. He came across as caring but doesn’t suffer fools gladly. I liked the way the reader is not only given insight into his working life but also his everyday life at home with his family. The two storylines worked very well together. Can’t wait to read more of Lynda’s books.
