Another lovely read with Carol’s follow up book but wouldn’t say it was a sequel to her first. Enjoyed this book and look forward to any more to come.
My thanks to NetGalley and to Harper Collins UK, Harper fiction for the early read

This is either your genre or it’s not, sadly it’s not mine, so my review reflects that fact. I read Carol Kirkwood’s first book as an ARC and when I was offered this one, I just accepted without going back and reading my review for the first one forgetting that I had felt the same way about the first one.

It’s pure, perfect romance, wonderful setting, beautiful, privileged, slim, perfect people. You know who’s going to fall for whom and there’s no great surprises. Of course, there are some ‘bad guys’ but they are the ‘less perfect ones’. I finished the book because I said I would, but it’s just not my ‘cup of tea’.

However, if your ‘cup of tea; is simple, beautiful escapism and a peak into how the other half live - fairy tale style…….you will adore it and gobble it up! I’m just more of a realist and like the main characters to be flawed and ‘less than perfect’ which frankly we all are!

If you’re a Mills & Boon fan, then don’t hesitate.

My thanks go to Carol Kirkwood, Harper Collins & NetGalley for an advanced reader copy, however, (hardly needs saying) this review is my 100% honest opinion.

This is the next book to Under a Greek Moon, but not really a sequel as it's Ariana's story.
It starts with her rushing home to the idyllic Greek island her family live on as her Grandmother is dying. When the will is sorted, she has inherited a hotel on the on the French Riviera. The Hotel du Soleil. However, the Du Lac family have lived there and run the hotel for years and the son, Gabriel, has no intention of giving it up, So begins a battle of wills between Ariana and Gabriel.
In the meantime, we follow the story of Elizabeth and Robert, two famous film stars married to each other, but on the verge of divorce, mainly due to his behaviour. There is also Ariana's LA boyfriend, Jonny, who is a mess of drink and drugs. He turns up unwanted and put's a spanner in the burgeoning romance between Ari and Gabriel.
The main story is the mystery of how Ari came to inherit the hotel that has seen better days.
I loved this story.

I can’t remember the last time I was so enthralled with a story that I actually wanted to peek at the end to see the plot twist. Of course I didn’t, I never would. There were so many secrets, and I was desperate to know them, so much so that I binge read to the end (who needs sleep anyway?). I was addicted. I adored Gabriel du Lac, he was the perfect take charge alpha CEO, owning successful hotels all over the world. Then there’s the Hotel du Soleil, the centre of this story - it was supposed to be owned by his family, but it appears that Ariana Theodosis is actually the rightful owner. No-one appears to know how that came about. Herein starts a love hate relationship between Gabriel and Ariana (daughter of Demetrius from Under a Greek Moon). Lots of glamour and name dropping being that the hotel, and the story is based in Cannes during the Film festival, and their are many links to the film industry. Such a wonderfully written story, a highly entertaining and addictive read, full of drama, romance and intrigue. I loved it. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.

Having enjoyed Carol Kirkwood’s previous book, I hoped for another good read and wasn’t disappointed. As soon as you open the first page, you know this will be an entertaining, intriguing story. Ariana has inherited Hotel du Soleil, in Cannes, left to her by her nana. Once a top hotel, visited by the rich and famous, now neglected and faded.
The characters are fiery and complex, each determined that the hotel belongs to them. Ariana has been living a rich girls’ jet-set lifestyle, glamour, parties, but feels that bringing the hotel back to its former glory is a worthwhile mission. However, Gabriel is convinced that the hotel belongs to him as it had formerly belonged to his father, and is determined to fight for it. They are reluctantly drawn to each other, and the chemistry sizzles as old family secrets are explored.
There are also sub plots with Robert and Elizabeth – two A list celebrities, whose marriage is rapidly disintegrating, and Elise, hoping to gain a worthwhile job so she can provide for her daughter.
I enjoyed the dialogue between the characters which brought them alive as the story unfolded. Carol Kirkwood’s vivid descriptions of beautiful Cannes, the music festivals and events made you feel you were there. But there is a darker side underlying the glamour, which brings a hint of danger to the plot.
This is an entertaining, engrossing Summer read, and Carol Kirkwood is becoming one of my favourite authors.

Just as readable as her last book, this is a perfect summer read. Another book which I couldn't put down.

I enjoyed Carol’s first novel and was delighted to get the chance to preview this one. Well, it was even better. The perfect poolside read! I loved the characters and the setting, the story developed beautifully and whilst there were no huge surprises in it, it had plenty to keep me interested. I’ll definitely be looking out for the next one; many thanks to the publishers and #netgalley for this one.

Ariana Theodosis returns to her parental home on Ithos, She is glad to get away from LA where she had become involved with an undesirable group of people often led by her drug-addicted actor boyfriend, Jonny Farrell. Her much-adored grandmother is dying and she feels the time has come to get her life back onto an even keel. Following the funeral of Yaya her father, Aristotle, reveals that her grandmother has left her a magnificent large pink diamond ring, as well as most of her large jewellery collection and, most surprising of all, a Hotel in Cannes.

She arrives in Cannes as the annual film festival is about to start and makes her way to the Hotel du Soleil to claim it as her property. Finding it somewhat run-down she accosts Gabriel du Lac and sparks start to fly. He insists that his family has owned the hotel all his life, his mother now rather reclusive and living I’m the top floor suite. He makes various offers but to no avail, all the time finding her an intriguing and fascinating lady and she also feel drawn to him. There is obviously a very dark secret and a need to find out how Ariana’s grandmother came to be the owner. Will they every learn the true story?

Carol Kirkwood has written another story that makes a good holiday read. It is fast paced and reveals twists and turns fro start to finish.

What a fantastic second book from Carol Kirkwood, it had me hooked straight away, glamour, family secrets and romance. The book kept fast paced to the end with lots of twists and turns

When I started this story I found our heroine quite irritating and to be honest I wasn’t invested in the story because of it, but as she grew as a person the story got better and I ended up not being able to put it down. It was an easy read and I enjoyed reading from multiple pov, and the the epilogue was appreciated

I really enjoyed Under a Greek Moon, Carol Kirkwood’s first book, so jumped at the opportunity to read The Hotel on the Riviera, especially as some characters from the first book are reintroduced.

The Hotel on the Riviera is a sizzling read of pure escapism; full of secrets, intrigue, drama, romance and glamour. It is a must read over the summer months and will immediately transport you to the glitz of the French Riviera. The main characters are believable and i enjoyed how interlinked they became - hopefully we may get to revisit some of them in future books!

I can’t wait to see what Carol produces next as I’ll definitely be reading it.

With many thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins U.K, HarperFiction for the opportunity to read this ARC, in return for an honest and unbiased review.

Beautiful setting, deftly outlined characters and a family mystery that keeps you guessing right till the end. The Hotel on the Riviera is a deftly written book that's fun and frothy enough to be the perfect summer read and beautifully crafted in a way that stayed with me long after the last page was turned. I now want to read Carol's first book as well!

There is a link to Carol Kirkwood's first novel in this second one but this can be read independently. This time most of the action is in Cannes on the French Riviera but still set among A-listers and movie stars, this time those attending the film festival. At the heart of the story are secrets and addictions as we discover the hidden past of the du Lac family. There is also a seedy Russian crook, a spoiled son of a famous actor and a young woman trying to scrape a living and find fame so she can support her daughter.

Another great escapist summer read from Ms Kirkwood.

Thanks to Net Galley and the publishers for the opportunity to review this book.

Loved the setting, Cannes, so vividly described.
Loved the characters, both the glamorous main ones, (all with secrets) , and the less prominent ones, the chef, the chambermaid, the grim hotel receptionist etc.
All put together in a pretty unbelievable but really enjoyable story.
I haven’t read Carole’s first book, but I will now

I love Carol Kirkwood's writing. Under a Greek Moon was very enjoyable and so is The Hotel on the Riviera. You feel as though you're living amongst all the characters in glamorous Cannes. Ariana's brilliant, so determined to make her own way in the world despite her father's vast wealth. She makes some dodgy decisions in her love life and you just hope she'll find someone to make her truly happy and that she makes a success of the rundown hotel she inherits. A great escapist read.
