As a newcomer to NetGalley, I have found this invaluable. It's clearly set out so you can quickly find the relevant point on which you need advice. Or, if as a new user like me, you just want a general overview of NetGalley, its functions and how reviewers can best interact with publishers, it's equally helpful.
It's well written, professionally presented and extremely comprehensive. For example, I wanted some guidance about how to write a critical review and quickly found the relevant section in the book. Once there, everything I could possibly have wanted to know about the subject was there.
I would thoroughly recommend downloading this book if you are new to NetGalley, or even if you've used it for a while, as there may be things you didn't know.
I sincerely think that part of this toolkit doesn’t help at all while also thinking it’s helpful. I liked the parts where the toolkit goes into depth on social media and what to do about one’s netgalley profile, but I don’t think it really helps reviewers to navigate this website. This is another generic guide that expects you to be doing fine finding titles and building a base on netgalley, but there isn’t a lot of aid for the reader who’s never even used netgalley before or if you’ve never received a galley/arc before!
A quick, concise guide to learning how to navigate reviewing books online. There was a lot of good information for beginners.
I found this guide helpful to get started on my journey to becoming a book advocate. Thank you Netgalley for putting it together so well!
As a newbie to Net Galley, I was super thankful to all the tips and tricks that made up this guide and it definitely answered all of the questions I had. It was super helpful and I especially liked the bits surrounding bookstagram and posting reviews to social media and this is my main output for my reviews.
Helpful quick guide on how to navigate the book reviewing space without overcomplicating things. I will definitely be using the blogging tips.
This book was very helpful with tips for getting approved for more books. It should be a must read for anyone wanting to review books.
I read this after returning to book reviewing after a break. I previously had completed 10 Netgalley reviews.
This book gives a great overview of how to get started with Netgalley and what to put in your profile to encourage publishers to accept your requests for books. It also includes info letting reviewers know to keep their feedback ratio to 80% or higher.
I mainly post my reviews on my blog (and on Goodreads), then I make a post on Twitter to let my followers know I've posted. I found the following most helpful: tips and tricks on writing a review, blog review formats, and the suggestion to write hashtags in Camelcase (capitalize the first letter of each word = #JustLikeThis). I also appreciated the reminder to add alt text to image descriptions to increase accessibility when people are reading on a screen reader. There are tips on ways to track the reviews you need to publish and when.
If you promote books on Bookstagram, Booktube, and/or BookTok (or want to start doing so), this book gives tips on how to do that more successfully.
Thanks to Netgalley for a free eARC copy. This review is my own.
Brilliant book, really helpful and exactly what everyone using Netgalley should read. So many tips and useful pieces of information, a must read.
This book has helped me a lot in making my review easier and accessible. Thank you very much.
The book is written in short paragraphs where required but mostly in pointers and that gets the point through quickly and that helps a lot.
It has various sections for various book versions and how to write and what to write to make it more wholesome.
This is definitely a book I'll have open whenever I'm going to write or post reviews about books.
This is a helpful overview for how to appropriately review books on multiple platforms. I’ve been on bookstagram for 4 years and didn’t see anything new here, but I can see this being useful for a beginner.
The platform overviews, general dos and don’ts, as well as blogging and tok-ing offer a grand landscape in which to post a review of your most loved (or hated) books. Thanks for all the information!
Loved this guide on writing better reviews! Sometimes I see the black page and feel stuck on how to describe what I enjoyed or didn’t about a book. I appreciate that netgalley provided this for help.
Thank you so much for this tooklit! I am new to the book review world and this booklet was extremely helpful in getting started and finding my 'groove'! I feel so much more confident in my review writing now!
Thank you. It was fine and informative. But I don't understand why I have to give a review on an instruction booklet and it to show up on my shelf.
Very helpful for reviewers. I Would prefer it didn’t show up in my netgalley shelf and stats. When I first looked for it, I thought it would just be an article. That would be a better format.
As a Netgalley newbie, this guide was a great place to start! Can't wait to jump into reviewing, and I appreciate Netgalley's help to make my first foray a good one!
A great guide if you're just getting started with NetGalley or just want a few more tips on how to get the most out of it! I read this after having taken a long break from my bookish social media and it had some good tips that helped me get back into it!
This was super helpful! I appreciated the info on reviews as well as social media. I mainly post on Instagram and loved the tips.
As a new reviewer, this toolkit is invaluable!
I loved the breakdown of how to write a review, what to include and how to engage a reader.
I’m already comfortable with social media, but still appreciated the tips :)
Thank you!
