This was helpful since I’m new to NetGalley I appreciated the advice of what to do and not do on this site.
I loved getting tips for the social media platforms I use to post book reviews. I mostly use instagram, but recently added a BookTok account, and loved these ideas to post Netgalley book reviews and videos. I also took note of the tips for requesting books on this platform.
*many thanks to Netgalley for the gifted copy
Extremely helpful guide to NetGalley. I was looking for help on writing reviews and this definitely hit the mark. Thanks, NetGalley!
This is great! Very helpful. I have been on NetGalley for awhile and figured I knew what there is to know. Not true. I learned a lot. Thanks for this resource! 💕
NetGalley did a wonderful job putting together a step by step manual .. I really appreciated the guide for when you get stuck on how to review a book you may not have enjoyed.
Great! I was looking for a guide exactly like this!
It covers all the aspects of the reviewer work in general with some specific tips for writing a review or managing our social accounts. Great job!
NetGalley, with We Are Bookish, has produced a Book Advocate Toolkit. This toolkit is the perfect way to get started and comfortable on NetGalley. It walks the reader through creating a profile and selecting titles to review. There are tips for posting on social media including video reviews. Topics include hashtags and planning to put a review across all your social media platforms. It is a great tool to help the reader start with NetGalley or improve an already established profile.
This is an honest review of the title. I received it from NetGalley.

Great tips for newbies and the layout and design were eyecatching. I even learned a few things!!! I am sure to many people these tips were obvious, but for new people like me, I found a lot of the tips to be easy to follow and helpful.
Many people might already know a lot of the tips, but honestly, it's really good to see them written down. And there are some new things in there that are absolutely useful!
Oh, and I adore the layout!
Thank you, NetGalley, for this helpful primer in navigating the role of a reviewer! Instructions were clear, suggestions were plentiful, and the layout was easy to follow.
Really useful, thanks Netgalley for this little manual because it helped me a lot and I will use it a lot to improve my Netgalley, instagram and goodreads account.
The advices are really on point, concise, clear and understandable to all and I also loved the very cute and organized graphics.
Good little tidbits that can help someone new like me get started. Nothing I haven’t really seen elsewhere or couldn’t figure out for myself though.
This is just the toolkit but it’s messing up my feedback ratio! So here is a nothing review- I appreciate the toolkit though! Thanks for making it! 😬
I think what I liked best about this toolkit was the liberal use of infographics - info was much easier to understand and RETAIN as opposed to paragraphs. The tookit is a great tool for beginners, not just with Netgalley, but on any platform you might post book reviews. Worth the read!
I am always looking for ways to be a better advocate and this has good information all the way throughout. It is the first stop for anyone new to Netgalley, and a great document to review every few months for seasoned reviewers.
Useful tool for anyone building a netgalley profile and for beginners.. helpful, quick. Recommended downloading when starting out.
This was a great introduction to being a book advocate! As someone who enjoys helping people find their next favorite book and recommending books more than critically reviewing them I really look forward to thinking of myself a "Book Advocate" and not strictly a "reviewer."
This is a great guide on not only how to best utilize different platforms and their individual styles of content (Youtube, TikTok, Instagram, and Blogs), but also how to vary your content across platforms. The information presented is conveyed via fun checklists and graphics. Links to articles on NetGalley's sister site "We Are Bookish" are embedded into the PDF and easily link you to well written and helpful articles on various topics throughout the guide!
I highly recommend this guide to:
- anyone just getting started with book reviewing
- reviewers looking to expand their knowledge on different types of reviews to post
- bookish content creators looking for fun book related content ideas or styles
- anyone looking for more information on different platforms for their reviews
- reviewers who already have a strong presence on one platform but want expand their presence on other platforms
This toolkit is extremely helpful and provided lots of information especially for someone new to NetGalley or as a refresher for those already familiar with the site.
Very interesting read and helpful for both new and existing users. I don't think I read a guide like this when I started using Netgalley.
Very detailed information on reviewing and how to use your chosen platform. I particularly liked the advice about not requesting too many books. I ended up lowered my feedback ratio when I was struggling to read at times for various reasons. I'd often request a lot in case I had lots of rejections. Sometimes realising later on that the book no longer appealed to me or I had no time to review anymore. So good advice to follow. Request less and don't overload myself to continue using and enjoying Netgalley.
A guide I will return to again.
Lots of helpful hints! Thanks very much for putting this guide together. I also really enjoy the #TipTuesday series on Instagram.
