What a great resource! It was exactly what I was looking for: short, resourceful, easy to understand. I will be coming back to this book for tips and tricks and to refresh my memory in the coming weeks.
These are all great suggestions. I will start with my first two social reading networks to share my reviews, which are Goodreads and Amazon, and then work on building the other networks over time. Thanks for sharing it.
I’m new to NetGalley and just trying to find my feet.
This guide is so useful!
I’m off now to start looking at my socials and get better organised.
This is a helpful and thorough guidebook., I refer back to this all the time. Thank you for providing this to all Net Galley users.
This was extremely helpful. I’m relatively new to NetGalley and had only scratched the surface of things I could do to improve my profile and ability to read and review books that excite me.
I'm still fairly new to NetGalley so this PDF was pretty helpful at suggesting how to refine my reviews and social media presence.
This was a great resource in helping me fine-tune my reviews, and my requesting strategy. Thank you NetGalley!
I am new to NetGalley. This easy-to-read guide explains how NetGalley works and offers many tips for writing book reviews. I will be referring to it often. Thank you for providing this guide.

Many thanks to NetGalley and We Are Bookish for receiving NetGalley’s Book Advocate Toolkit for free in exchange for an honest review. My thoughts and opinions are 100% my own and independent of receiving a free copy.
Anyone new to NetGalley can find it overwhelming. Make sure you post your reviews - not too early not too late! Don’t let your feedback ratio fall below 80%! There are a million questions people have like how to get approved by a publisher, or even how come I am being declined. There are places to go like the NetGalley help pages, blog pages and even groups on Goodreads that can be a resource, however, NetGalley has decided to publish a booklet that can give you all your answers in one place.
There are several key things that can help your NetGalley journey. The first is and most important is probably your profile. What should you include, what should you leave out. This is the first thing that publishers will look at when trying to decide to grant your request. The toolkit will explain everything you need to know. I’m sure this was created with newbies in mind, but even the more experienced reviewer can learn a few things from this toolkit.
It includes how to write a good book review, where to publish your reviews including platforms like Bookstagram, Booktube and Booktok. The last three are newer platforms that have gained a lot of traction in the last few years. I’ve even read comments by people who don’t even bother with a blog anymore, they just focus on publishing on Bookstagram or Booktok. And yes, they get approved for books all the time.
The toolkit gives a variety of examples of different types of blog reviews which can help expand those of us who write the more traditional style of review. Of course there are general tips, more of a dos and don’t section. One great tip that is very important, don’t tag the author, tag the publisher! There are great organizational ideas for posting as well as #hashtag guidelines.
All in all a very useful guide if you want to up your game with NetGalley. Whether you are starting out, or wanting to step it up a notch, this toolkit is full of great ideas. Free from NetGalley you can use it as a reference guide so what’s not to love!
This is a great little guide that is well laid out and easy to read. It has given me the incentive to try a Facebook page for book reviews as I am not creative enough for a whole blog. :)
Thanks to NetGalley and We Are Bookish for a copy of this guide.
this toolkit is helpful for me as a newbie in NetGalley, not too much word but really focus on what important. very reader friendly, recommended for fellow newbie!
Thank you for making this so simple and easy to understand. I am grateful that this exists and I hope all newbies like me take the time to look through it.

This was super helpful & gave great tips to boost my potential to receive ARCs! I also learned so many new functions on NetGalley that I wasn’t aware of - super insightful!
This was an incredibly insightful toolkit. I learned a lot of neat tricks to boost my chances of getting arcs I genuinely love.
A good straightforward summary of how NetGalley works and a great compilation of tips to effectively review content. I would recommend all newcomers to Netgalley take the time to read.
I wish I would have read this prior to beginning reviews, however, it was a great refresher and was very informative! I love that it clearly explains the rations, which was initially a bit confusing. I appreciate the breakdown for Bookstagram specifically and giving tips to help boost my profile and my reviews in general. Thank you for publishing this to help us new reviewers grow! The graphics were very helpful and easy to follow and read.
Thanks to NetGalley and We Are Bookish for a copy of this handy little guide.
There are lots of good tips, told in a breezy fashion. One that stuck with me is the admonition not to download a ton of books to review; it's a burden to the new reviewer, and unfair to your publishers. And that leads to the reminder to always check publisher approval preferences -- not every publisher wants your deathless prose!
There are tips about writing a good profile, too. And please don't use emojis! This isn't TikTok.
Overall, it's a quick reminder for beginners and seasoned reviewers for how to put together a few paragraphs that will highlight the book and make others want to read it, too.
Very useful guide and helpful for anyone wanting to have a book presence on social media. It gives specific tips for each platform as well as general tips for netgalley ing general.
