I did not know NetGalley published a toolkit until I received an email on the book journal published this year. I enjoyed reading it. The Advocate Toolkit is helpful and insightful even for me who has been in the book review world for almost a decade. I haven't checked if the toolkit is available outside the NetGalley website but I hope it is so non-NetGalley members can access it. Honestly, it is good marketing material to promote the platform.
It was helpful to read through these tips! I liked the format and design of the pages as well. Not all of the information was applicable to me and my account but it was easy to navigate what information would help me and what I could skip over.
This is a great tool to use to assist when giving feedback. It’s a tool that I used when I first began giving reviews.
The NetGalley Book Advocate Toolkit is an excellent tool. A great way to start your review journey. Really good helpful tips
This guide to utilizing NetGalley was incredibly informative. Not only did it give step by step instructions, it included tips and tricks on how to post on social media, which I thought was very helpful to a new reviewer.
I would recommend this guide to anyone new to using NetGalley or reviewing in general.
Excellent resource- thank you for providing! Excellent resource- thank you for providing! Excellent resource- thank you for providing! Excellent resource- thank you for providing!
Good useful tool that I will definitely be looking at in the coming days to make sure my content is smooth and nice
This was so very helpful! I have been using NetGalley for a couple of months and this was beneficial to get these tips. I recommend anyone using NetGalley to download this free advice!!
Even though this was old (no threads, no discussion of X), it was still very helpful. I just wanted a refresher, as I want to share book reviews and I want to work smarter not harder. Thank you Booksih and NetGalley for the helpful Toolkit.
Interesting book, it gives handy hints and helpful tips to ensure that you post a good review, be it in favor or not of the book you are reviewing. It is aimed towards NetGalley reviews, but it could be used in all of your reviews.
When I first started reviewing, I was hesitant, I thought you had to leave a different review on all of the sites, there was no way that I would have been able to do that. Such a relief to learn that you can copy and paste your review wherever you wanted to post it.
I enjoy reading books and posting reviews. I am always curious about books like this that want to help you do that.

What a great introduction into becoming a book advocate using NetGalley’s access to ARCs! This makes a great, easy, non-intimidating introduction to becoming a great reviewer and book advocate with guidance on how to get started. There are tips on being an effective reviewer, book blogger, or social media influencer. I particularly enjoyed the links to further information going back to their blog so I can do a deeper dive into topics I was interested in such as the importance of maintaining and improving my reviewer profile and feedback ratio. The ideas and tips shared on establishing and maintaining a social media bookish account was also really helpful. Overall, this is a great and informative quick read on how to get started in this bookish space. Highly recommended for anyone new to reviewing books and wanting to get started sharing their love of books with others.
If you’re new to NetGalley, this guide is an invaluable resource. The Toolkit explains how to share your book reviews across multiple platforms and how to grow your audience. It is easy to read, and it is well-organized and informative.
Intensely helpful guide on how to boost my presence and increase my impact through NetGalley. This is super straightforward and honestly super doable content. We Are Bookish did a great job putting this together. Thank you a million—I’m looking forward to doing better as I implement these tips!
Really useful guide to get started on NetGalley. Section on the feedback rating and tips for reviewing are handy
This toolkit was so helpful. As a book reviewer who also has a therapy business, i have been having analysis paralysis on how to improve, how to get more engagement, and what would help, this toolkit was super educational. It helped me also critically think about what is working and what is not, and maybe some other avenues I should consider as well. Thanks for this quick, informative toolkit!
This turned out to be so helpful to me. There were a number of ideas presented that I was able to use in writing reviews. I enjoyed the playful attitude displayed throughout the books. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone!
Concise, practical advice for NetGalley beginners! The latter half on social media was less applicable for my use case, but the advice on feedback ratios and approval preferences was great help.
NetGalley’s Book Advocate Toolkit was exactly as I had hoped; thorough yet easy to read and extremely helpful. The Toolkit will help you understand how to set up your profile, write useful reviews, as well as narrow down the review platform that fits you best (i.e. instagram, TikTok, blog).
I found the “do’s” and “don’ts” sections the most helpful, as they clearly lay out what is expected in reviews and what is a big no-no! I am excited to fine tune my profile and start reviewing some books!
This is an invaluable resource to use as a reference when writing a book review. I love blogging about the books that I have read, and this piece of information really helped to get things started the right way. Aside from that, I would have like to see more information about blogging, but overall, great.
This short little pdf is a helpful toolkit. It didn't quite answer the question I had, but was helpful nonetheless. If Amazon has a "peek inside" feature, can we use screenshots from NetGalley in our review if they match up with what Amazon has?
