Helpful information for someone getting more serious about reviewing and publishing reviews. Lots of ideas that I can refer back to!
I enjoy reviewing books and have been a member of Netgalley for some years. I’m always looking for ways to improve my reviews and make them appealing to potential readers. This little handbook really hits that spot and I’d recommend it to anyone who’s new to reviewing. It’s packed with tips and whilst much of it is common sense, it does provide a framework to shape all reviews. It can be daunting knowing where to start when you first set out as a reviewer. With the help of this guide, reviews will shape easily into concise and interesting pieces and will serve as a useful reminder for this occasions where you lose focus and don’t know quite what to write.
The NetGalley Book Advocate Toolkit gives so much great advice to newbies wanting to join and get into reviewing the books they read; I mean why not post your thoughts on what you read in the hopes it helps others? This book helped me to understand my Feedback Ratio and why it's so important. It also gives great information on where I can post my reviews such as Goodreads, Booktube, and BookTok, although I personally only tend to post to Goodreads and Amazon, as well as my own blog, when I remember I even have one. If you are new to requesting ARCs and posting your reviews, this is the perfect toolkit for you!
I would have preferred if it had been a form fillable pdf, and if the TOC had linked to the relevant sections.
Appreciating all your tips—being a newcomer to NetGalley, they’ve proven incredibly helpful.
Looking ahead, I’ll certainly incorporate these insights into my future reviews.

This intro really helped me plan the structure of my reviews. I am not yet a bookstagrammer or booktok reviewer but now I have some ideas to get started. I thought the section on what to do if you have “reviewer’s block” was very helpful. The graphics were a nice touch.
Very useful toolkit; Helps NetGalley members understand the platform, how to request books and give feedback, and what the feedback ratio means.
There are also tips on what information should be included in a review, how to write a review, how to then promote that review; (and one of my favorite sections) how to format a personal blog.

This advocate toolkit is very helpful! While a lot of this information is stuff that I have picked up from being in and around the book community for many years, I'd definitely recommend it for people who are just starting out. It did help me learn what format they're really looking for in terms of quality reviews. So I'm excited to upgrade my reviews going forward.
