Netgalley can be hard to get the hang of at first, so this toolkit is very helpful for reviewers and for those of us wanting to be better book advocates.
This was extremely helpful.. I just started a bookstagram account so I cant wait to put some of these tips to good use!
This definitely had tips and tricks for my NetGalley profile and best practices on how to get approvals. One thing I need to work on is looking over the publisher wants.
The advice in NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit is incredible. After reading this, I updated my NetGalley profile and set a reminder to keep my profile up-to-date every couple of months. I also learned something new. I love posting quotes with my reviews, but I hadn't considered that the ARC may not be accurate to the published copy. I will take all the information I learned into consideration while writing my next review. Thank you, NetGalley!
Such great feedback and info for writing and improving reviews! This “book” covers all the basics and answers common questions!
I am excited for this to get going! This is going to be so much fun, I think I am most excited about BINGO!
Weird that I have to give feedback for this toolkit to not damage my profile rating, but ok. Seems fine, haven’t really used it but didn’t want to be denied a book for not reviewing a free resource for writing the reviews.
This is a good refresher or starter guide for reviewing books online. The general advice is solid. However, I do think the advice for people starting a review social media account or blog is a bit understated. I started a Bookstagram account in April and, even though I do it for fun, it has still been difficult at times just to post consistently. And it was pretty hard to settle on a theme/color scheme and ideas for different posts (I don’t want to just post reviews).
The Book Advocate Toolkit is very helpful and gives great tips on how to grow your social media presence. Thanks to NetGalley for putting this together for us.
This Book Advocate Toolkit is very helpful especially for those new to Netgalley. Also very informative for old and long-time users as refresher and getting more tips and tricks to build their profile more.
Read. thanks for the info. IDK what else to say I just don't want this throwing off my ratings anymore so this is why I am writing this review. I will go back and review and access this more later on other days. Thank you netgalley.
Such a helpful Toolkit! Thank you so much for providing it for us to help us grow our accounts! This has really great tips for what to put in a review & the best things to post for reviews. Also loved the checklists! Helps me so much when I have visual things & checklists to make sure I get everything done so that was really helpful to have.
Thanks NetGalley for this book full of tips to help me make the most of my membership with you. For me the illustrations are a bit ‘naive’, but I’m sure that’s just a personal preference and you know what the majority of your members like.
When I joined recently I was sent a couple of books that I’d not requested, and because I didn’t yet understand the importance of the Reviews percentage I just ignored them. It would be helpful if an explanation of this could be added to the toolkit, with tips of how to deal with it please. Trying to increase review stats is proving difficult now they’re so low, but it’s been good to read more about that on #wearebookish’. Clicking on ‘find more request tips here’ connects to #wearebookish articles which were really helpful. I’m going to learn from the articles about reviews too, which the toolkit refers to.
From the toolkit I’ve learned to check Publishers’ Approval preferences, and I’ll now try to edit my profile to enhance my chances.
Could do with a link to sign up for the monthly email, which is mentioned in the booklet but I can’t find where to do that.
Thanks again, overall a very helpful booklet for a newbie.
Wow this Book Advocate Toolkit is so useful, I'll be referring back to this from time to time to refresh myself. So many useful tips from how to use NetGalley to posting on social media.
We all need to try to find our own unique voice and use that in a respectful way that helps promote books and their authors
The file was incredibly helpful, and I really appreciate the tips on making the most of NetGalley, as well as the helpful tips on various ways to review books. I will look further into creating additional social media accounts, and I will look at seeing how I can better align profile names across apps for continuity.
Informative and helpful. I would recommend this to anyone who regularly writes reviews for NetGalley or book reviews in general.
This is a great resource for any Netgalley member. I found much of the advice & tips usable. I plan on using some of the tips & trucks I have taken away from this.
Thank you to We Are Bookish for making this available to everyone, It will be an on hand item for me when i need to remember what i need to do when i go to review books on here, very small read but had MANY tips and tricks. I found this when i was seeing what to do for the Camp Netgalley.
Very helpful guide! I will definitely be using the tips on reviewing from now on. I don't do a lot on social media, but I do occasionally write reviews for our library's blog.
While much of the nuts and bolts advice is geared toward those who want to become "influencers" or otherwise have some sort of online "brand", there are helpful hints for all reviewers in here. It's only 32 pages, so it's worth taking a few minutes to flip through periodically - and it also takes advantage of the ebook format to include links to the resources and sites it talks about, which is a great time-saver. If you were interested in starting a blog or social media account on any subject, this would actually be a great guide for that, too - much less jargony and padded than most of what's out there. So good job, NetGalley technical writers!
