I think this Book Advocate Toolkit is really useful for a new NetGalley member and book reviewer like me! From writing reviews, to specific sections on how to use social media for sharing books, I felt like it had everything I need to get started reviewing right now. I like that the book itself gave me some great information, but it also provided links that can help me learn more about topics I am interested in (such as tips for getting started on BookTok or Bookstagram). My only issue while reading the book is that the Instagram link at the very end of the book does not work.
Overall, this was a great, quick read for new members and reviewers!
This is a good guide for Netgalley. It explains everything you need to know for writing reviews and more!
This is a beginner's friendly primer not only on how to use NetGalley, but also on aspects of various social media sites someone might wish to use to promote or create bookish content. This is a snappy read with an easy-to-follow structure and "big picture" ideas. A very quick-start style guide.
A very simple guide to book reviews. Great information, put into easy terms for the reader to quickly go through without taking an enormous amount of time. Colorful and precise. A good guide for all persons interested in compiling a good review without spoiling anything for a reader.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this toolkit.
A useful, comprehensive guide that seems most appropriate for beginners but that hopefully convinces even longtime users to better exploit social media presence for book awareness!
Like the NetGalley site, this guide is very helpful, clear and usable. It gave me a great starting point for managing and writing reviews and encouraged me to start using the online help provided on NetGalley to get more detailed information on various topics. Thanks for providing all this information in one place!
I also like that it downloaded as a standalone .pdf so I could access it anywhere. It also did a good job of introducing the use of NetGalley to a wide variety of audiences and social media venues.
I also liked practical suggestions to make the reviews more meaningful and content rich, such as “Pick an author, audiobook narrator, subgenre, a trope, or character archetype to focus on in these reviews.”
Comprehensive and some great tips! Even though I'd be totally lost on a social media platform, this makes me want to try.
Great information. Most of it already have been familiar with, but this would be a great guide for a beginner.
This was a really helpful way to get to understand how NetGalley works and to help develop marketing plans for new titles.
Absolutely essential for anyone looking to spread their love of reading and books. I thought it was extremely helpful and made me feel confident that I could navigate the sometimes overwhelming social media landscape as a Gen Xer!
This toolkit is a handy and helpful resource for anyone looking into reviewing books on NetGalley, a blog, a YouTube channel, or another popular platform. It's a quick and easy read.
This is such a helpful little ebook! Anyone who is on Netgalley and wants to know how to write better reviews should definitely read this. It’s a quick read and only takes a few minutes!
This is a great guide for anyone who uses NetGalley. It gives you advice on reviews and how to get the best out of NetGalley but also how to improve your input on book reviews.
Highly recommend this book for anyone who is starting out or a long time user of NetGalley
this is an informative guide to reviewing and making the most of net galley. Some things I already knew, but there were also tips that were eye-openers as well, like withdrawing a request and getting your feedback ratio back up.
A great and informative guide that can help reviewers understand how to best promote books. The illustrations were very helpful and much thought was given into how to best describe the art of reviewing. Would recommend all reviewers start with this.
I think this book provides a great jumping off point on how to proceed with providing feedback on books as well as how to use different platforms. This is not an in depth guide, but gives you many points you can choose to dig deeper into. I have been thinking about trying to review books for a while now and this definitely made it seem a little less daunting. I only wish there were reading recommendations.
Thank you Netgalley for the 'Book Advocate Toolkit'.. I found it to be extremely helpful, especially as a new ARC reader/reviewer. Reading through the toolkit validated that I am doing most of this right. I appreciate the break downs and hints to help me better utilize Netgalley, and how to increase my chances of receiving ARC approvals.
This is a handy reference for Netgalley readers. I wish it had been available in August 2018 when I first registered on Netgalley. I had been reviewing for Crime Classics, and they began sending the books with Netgalley. I am so glad of that move, because I have now reviewed 305 books for Netgalley, from several publishers and many different authors. However, I wasn't sure how to register, and registered in the wrong category which I find can't be changed. It tells you how you can withdraw a request, and how to begin on Netgalley by asking for one book at a time to build up your feedback ratio.
There is a section on writing your review which is helpful. There is also a large section on social media and blogs and how to use them. Unfortunately, I am not comfortable with social media and blogs, and believe it is how most spammers connect with those they hack.
I thank Netgalley for putting out this helpful article.
It was quite informative and very helpful. A quick read with plenty of advice and tips on reviews and social media.
I was actually very pleasantly surprised by how informative this was. I think it’s a great beginner’s guide to Netgalley and the online bookish world.
