I was surprised at how helpful I found this guide. I don't know what I was expecting but it was of great help. I definitely need to reread it and take lots of notes. Truly recommend if you use Netgalley especially if you're just starting.
A useful, concise guide about using NetGalley and alternative social media platforms. Something you can always turn to for guidance and reassurance - there are lots of great tips and tricks here!
Thank you for NetGalley publishing this very helpful book about using NetGalley and also being a book blogger, reviewer etc. in general! Especially for me, who is still quite new to NetGalley, this book is very useful and talks about the beginners steps! Overall, it gives a good overview over the most important topics!
Very helpful guide to get started on Netgalley and review books, post on social media, etc. I'm going to use some of the ideas here with my own students.
Very helpful guide, full of great tips for getting started on Net Galley or improving your reviews and online presence. It’s a quick read (only 32 pages) and divided up into bite-sized chunks of information. All in a very colorful layout. Five stars, because all of the info I needed was there!
Thank you so much for this handbook! This gives insights on how to use the platform and how to be a book reviewer in general. It gives detailed information on the dos and the don’ts of a book blogger.
I recommend reading it before starting your journey here!
This toolkit is helpful for anyone getting started on NetGalley as a reviewer. There are excellent tips to help you organize your review as well as considerations to present yourself as professional as possible. Definitely add this to your list.
As someone that is relatively new to social media and book reviews, I found this very helpful. I can definitely see utilizing the information in this guide to help me along the way.
Cute booklet! Definitely helpful for newbies and as a review for those of us who have been in it for a while!
I've been a member of NetGalley since 2014 but have been inactive for almost 2 years. I think it's time now to get over the review writer's block
I downloaded this free guide tonight and have spent the last 2-hours reading the hints and tips for writing reviews; opening links for related topics; learning about different social media apps. I would have read for longer but my tablet needs charged! I think I've only scratched the surface and I'm sure I'll be checking it out often. It seems such a wonderful resource - full of useful and interesting suggestions - and I'm hoping it's just what I need to help me get re-started.
I received a free download of this book when I signed up for netgalley.
This is a very clear and concise book on everything you need to know about starting out as a netgalley member.
It walks you through the various steps and provides advice and hyperlinks to other articles so that you can get the most out of it..
I did not realize how much is out there for book reader like myself and with this guide, I can feel confident that I am doing everything the right way to get the most out of this experience.
This cute pamphlet is so useful! I mean, I probably should have read it when I signed up to NetGalley in 2018 not in 2022 when I have already developed some bad habits (oops!).
Nevertheless, it's always useful to be reminded of good practise and it is my mission in 2023 to get my abysmal feedback ratio up to at least 60% but ideally the recommended 80%. Thank you NetGalley for this invaluable guide.
This is a perfect toolkit for me as an aspiring book blogger. As soon as I read the warning concerning request sprees, I knew it was perfect for me as I have definitely fallen to that, although I have learned from it. In addition, I enjoyed learning about NetGallery's features that I didn't know about before such as publisher's approval preferences and publisher email, I want to improve writing my profile and describing the plot in book reviews. Overall it was a great summary of different platforms and contained great tips on how to be more accessible and easier to find.
• The Brief: This is a short and engaging how-to-guide for using both NetGalley to provide feedback to publishers and social media to promote new releases.
• This is a good starting reference for NetGalley reviewers as it provides a lot of basic strategies in a quick to read outline form.
I liked the creative and easy to use format. I do think it could be expanded with specific examples to make it more useful to experienced reviewers. At it's current state, it covers stage one of the process... adding more depth to all of the sections would allow it to remain useful longer.
This was a super helpful guide and I see this as something I would come to again and again as I read and review my net galley books. I would defintely recommend this to others new to Net Galley so you have a better idea of the process and how to provide quality reviews.
This is a really helpful guide for everyone on Netgalley. Whether they are new or have been here a while like me, you will find something useful in this toolkit.
This book is an essential read for any new book blogger! It goes over all the do’s and dont’s in order to set you up for success! The graphics were attention grabbing, to the point and simple to read!
One of my favorite parts of this toolkit was the suggestions of how to obtain ARC’s. As an avid book reader, I always wondered how one obtained an ARC. This toolkit provided me with the skills needed to confidently request an ARC from some of the most sought after publishers.
Without this toolkit, I would not have been successful in creating my bookstagram!
This is a concise primer with useful tips and links to more resources. It covers NetGalley, book reviewing, social media, and strategy/tools. I appreciated the section about accessibility.
I have general knowledge but still made some notes for each section. This will be most helpful to a beginner.
Helpful but a bit complicated at times. Useful to have on hand when thinking about how to give feedback on the books you have reviewed
This is a fantastic toolkit and am so glad I decided to actually look through it. The graphics organized the plethora of content really well and were definitely appearing.
As someone who has barely started book reviewing this year and is just getting into their bookstagram journey this was really helpful. I never thought to look at publisher specific hashtags to include in my posts. My biggest book/social goal for the new year is to learn how to be consistent with posting. These bits of advice are definitely things i will be utilizing..
