Thank you for providing your readers/reviewers with this resource! I found it to be EXTREMELY helpful, not only in how to write a good review, but chock-full with ways to establish one's presence online. A MUST for someone starting out as a book reviewer. :o)
I appreciate that this toolkit is straight and to the point. It gives you the most pertinent information in a very visual manner without weighing it down with a lot of words that would inevitably confuse the message. Finding quick and basic information is super easy and you get the idea without much trouble.
However, the same straightness is also its weakness. I would have loved to have a bit more information on a couple of the most pertinent points instead of being directed to the blog. I get that it's an ebook so referring to the blog is efficient and it's not necessarily forcing you to put the book down and go get a device, but having the information in the toolkit would make it easier to access.
Overall, it's a good, quick reference guide that will quickly clear up basic questions.
Great info about Netgalley, thank you! Very informative and helpful, I will refer to it again in the future. Loved the tips about leaving reviews and how to build my account here.
I'll admit it. I'm a sucker for anything called a 'toolkit'. This appeals to my self-taught, DIY driven nature. If you're a book reviewer and a member of NetGalley, you owe it to yourself to take a half hour and read this guide. It's tightly focused and filled with all the little things we should be doing as reviewers, if we want to be perceived as well-informed professionals. I learned a few things I need to be doing, or should be doing more of, and I'm grateful for the guidance.
If you're *not* a NetGalley member, read this anyway. The advice applies to you, too! (And maybe you'll decide to join us!)
This toolkit will be filed in my folder marked 'Toolkits'. Yes, I have one. I try to remember to dive in there often, too. Good work, Bookish! I'll give you all the stars.
My thanks to We Are Bookish and NetGalley for allowing me to read a digital review copy of this book. This review is my honest and unbiased opinion.
NetGalley’s Book Advocate Toolkit is a concise summary of how to make the most of the NetGalley experience. The guidelines and tips are helpful and give readers ideas of how best to promote the books they review. Thank you NetGalley for giving me the chance to view this book that was published in March.
Incredibly helpful and I'm definitely going to put some of these tips to use.
Reviewers from multiple platforms will surely appreciate reading this toolkit, from Goodreads (like me!) to educators and librarians.
Thank you NetGalley and We Are Bookish for creating and sharing this with us!
Very helpful and informative on how to get approved for advanced reader copies. I ended up getting a bunch approved after using this information.
#BookAdvocateToolkit #NetGalley Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this novel.
An awesome tool to help get more requests approved on net galley. I found these tops to be helpful and gain new insight for reviewing
NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit is a visually-pleasing, great reminder of the basics when reviewing NetGalley books. Although I'm not involved in the audio or booktok worlds, there are plenty of tips for different platforms.
I have been hoping to increase the effectiveness of my reviews so I took a few minutes to sit down and go over NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit. This is such a simple, but useful and informative tool.
Helpful tips for utilizing NetGalley and maximizing your results. I'm sure I will refer back to this manual numerous times.
This toolkit is very helpful for anyone looking to get more eyes on their book reviews! It's also super easy to download as a pdf and click links for more info.
In addition to being a NetGalley reviewer, I am also an author assistant. I've bookmarked several of the articles shared within this toolkit for future reference.
2 Biggest Takeaways:
• Although I haven't requested books in error, have requested books that were not in my preferred format. It's good to know there is a way to withdraw my request,
• You shouldn't share quotes from digital arcs. This is not the advice of authors who use NetGalley to distribute arcs. Many ask team members to compile a list of their favorite quotes so they can make graphics for social media.
Super helpful and handy for my growing collection of NetGalley reads! This website has changed my view on reading and helped me explore so Many different books and perspectives. Turns out I like literary books a lot more than I realized. And even better, this year NetGalley helped me find some of my favorite books I have ever read.— So grateful! Thanks for this booklet to keep me on track.
This is a Great tool kit to use and how to understand the NETGALLEY app.
I have to say it all in all is very well done and enjoyable. To read and enjoy the app because of it.
Wonderful resource! So if it many readers will know, but I bet even the most sage veteran will find useful tidbits. Appreciate the effort that went into it and thanks for sharing!
I read this guide to reviewing books on Netgalley and found many helpful tips for making my profile and bookstagram more effective and engaging. This is a great guide.
As a newbie to NetGalley, and thinking of increasing my on-line presence in 2023, this quick read gave a ton of great snippets to help get my brain thinking about what type of "bookie" I want to be. I have been reading my whole life, so over half a century (EEK!) and I love how the book world is changing with on-line capabilities of being able to reach and share with fellow book readers. I am not 100% great at social-media and this helped give a kick start to how to go about it on may different platforms.
And hopefully my first review reflects the "do's" and not the don'ts". Planning on using this as a reference as i start to read more, and hope that publishers will want to allow me to read their books with my enthusiastic feedback! I love supporting authors, and hope with all the reading I do, I can be a help to bring exposure, and to introduce me to authors that I may not have heard of.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing this resource and the opportunity to review the content.
This is a pretty good beginner guide to anyone getting started on bookish social media, NetGalley or no. Nothing revolutionary, but you'd have to really work at it if you want to go wrong while following the tips in this toolkit.
