This was a very helpful guide for writing a book review! I was totally lost, when figuring out how to even start writing one, but this step-by-step guide answered all my questions.
Review of NetGalley’s Book Advocate Toolkit
I have read multiple times an incredible, living document and resource: NetGalley’s Book Advocate Toolkit published by We Are Bookish. Packed in this 32-page treasure trove are guiding principles, tips, strategies, embedded links, and meaningful advice. Not only is the format engaging, but it is also specific and valuable -- providing what is needed to be a successful NetGalley member. I appreciate the “Dos” and “Don’ts” and the ways to be creative and successful. I highly recommend this eArc to everyone who is serious about their adventures with NetGalley, publishers, and authors.

This helps review books, a good reference It makes the process of reviewing easier for the casual reviewer
Very informative! There were a lot of things I didn’t know. It’s very handy and I’ll be referring to it regularly to help me review books in the future.
The NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit is short and easy to read tips and tricks of using NetGalley for building up your book reading and review power. I have been a member for a few years and have fumbled through what to do. This toolkit really helped me understand what to do after you have been given the opportunity to read books in exchange for your honest review. I will be using some of these tips immediately and work on enhancing my profile, reviews, and feedback score.
I recommend this toolkit for anyone who is new to NetGalley and wants to understand how to proceed for maximum effectiveness. The Read Now tip is worth the short time it'll take you to review this toolkit but there's so many other worthwhile tips in regards to platforms and design for certain type of reviews.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this toolkit in exchange of my honest review!
Thank you to #NetGalley for the opportunity to read the Book Advocate Toolkit. It was very interesting, helpful and timely. It gave me new insights into reviewing the books.
This a helpful guide to starting out on netgalley. It has lots of helpful advice and is easy to use.
Extremely helpful and educational as a new NetGalley member! .
The "NetGalley Book Advocate Toolkit" also helped me want to start another platform other than Goodreads to post my reviews on my recent reads. I always posted mini reviews on my personal Instagram but I think I'll start a new page with just great reads and reviews.
Much thanks to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of NETGALLEY’S BOOK ADVOCATE TOOLKIT in exchange for an honest review.
This toolkit provides readers with succinct information on how to get started. Of particular import, the kit lists several “Do’s and Don’ts” that help readers with best practices when writing reviews. I particularly like how the authors included information on the different places where readers post reviews (Instagram, Facebook, and etc). This was a useful kit that I’ll continue to reference in the future.
*** A copy of this review appears on both NetGalley and Goodreads. ***
Highly recommend this toolkit when starting your NetGalley journey. It was very helpful and easy to use.
Great advice. Gave me some ideas on how to revamp my reviews!! I will be implementing them as soon as possible!! Thank you!!
I found NetGalley’s Book Advocate Toolkit SO helpful and insightful. I have been reviewing here and on Goodreads for awhile and I found so much helpful information and great ideas. If you are looking to elevate your book reviews, this toolkit will be your best friend!
I think this toolkit could be very helpful for my reviews in the future. It makes me think more about starting another outlet for my reviews aside from just goodreads.
This was a helpful overview on how to effectively support books and authors via NetGalley. I appreciated that it was broken down into sections for different social platforms. Definitely a great place to start if you're wondering where to start on NetGalley, has some helpful tips on platforms you can use or apps that can take your content to the next level.
The "Book Advocate Toolkit" is a pleasure to read - and use! The graphics are bright and help make the tips clear, and the section on how to use platforms can be helpful for many social media efforts, not just book reviews. I'll be returning to this guide again and again. Thank you, NetGalley!
NetGalley’s Book Advocate Toolkit is the perfect guide for a beginner book reviewer like myself. It’s comprehensive, well-organized, and gorgeously designed. I’m new to book reviewing, and this guide has given me all the tools I need to feel confident in my book-reviewing abilities. I particularly appreciated the section emphasizing accessibility. I’ll be sure to recommend NetGalley’s Book Advocate Toolkit to anyone interested in reviewing books—from beginners looking for somewhere to start to experienced reviewers looking to polish their skills.
The NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit is exactly the resource I was looking for to embark on this journey into the realm of book reviewing. The resource kit covers everything from writing a traditional critical review in print to quick review videos on TikTok. I already have a list of changes that I need implement on my profiles so that I present the most articulate review for the medium. I am so excited! My mission is to help non-readers or reluctant readers find the perfect book, and I now feel as though I have the tools I need to do this properly.
Thank you NetGalley!
As a newbie bookstagrammer and NetGalley reviewer this is a super helpful toolkit to have. From tips and tricks, to ideas for posts, and ways to formulate reviews in the best way, this has it all pretty much. One thing I do wonder about that maybe could be provided is typical expected time for feedback to be provided? I feel like I immediately panic and set this like three day window to read and review the book on NetGalley but then have Instagram posts scheduled closer to release date per publisher preferences.
Otherwise I feel like any other info you need to get started or just improve in general is all there! Thank you for this!
What a really well thought out and useful guide to all things book review related. Covering guidance from setting up your NetGalley profile to suggesting and describing the different social platforms for sharing your book reviews.
Well laid out, and visually engaging. Why didn’t I read this sooner!
I wish I saw this toolkit when I first joined NetGalley! There are so many helpful tips and some great descriptions about the different member types, info about requesting books and how to get approved. Not only are there tips for new members but there are also tips for long time NetGalley users. For example, there are tips on how to write better reviews, and how to promote your review on various social media platforms, like Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and TikTok. There are actually lots of tips for joining the various book related social media platforms like booktok and bookstagram (the best one is to never tag authors in bad reviews!!!). This toolkit is very informative and is helpful on your book journey outside of NetGalley.
Thank you NetGalley!
