Hannah smiles at her guests. In this grand house rented specially for the evening, everyone admires the sparkling chandelier and raises a glass to say goodbye before Hannah moves away from this little town for good. But the next day, one of them lies cold and lifeless in their bed… It was thrilling, it had intrigue, suspense, and lots of heart pounding moments! Lots of twists and turns!! Definitely some jaw dropping moments! I highly recommend reading this book! Its well worth the thrill!
I liked this book. It hooked me from the first page. And I love books with plot twist that I didn't expect, this book gave me that feeling.
It's a party! Is it a low-key get together or more of a Hen Party? Hannah has rented a mansion of a house for the weekend to celebrate her plans to travel around the world. Her mother, two sisters and a handful of girl friends are there to send her off. Of course there is an issue, based on the past and one person turns up dead in the morning. This quickly moving book deals with the before and the after. It's not until the very end that you will hear the why. If you like a locked room sort of mystery, a party gone wrong, friends with shadowy pasts, then this book is for you #ThePartyAtNumber12. #Netgalley #NetGalleyReads #Bookouture
I absolutely adored this book from the very first page, i’ve always loved this authors books, and this one was no exception. I did not see the twist at the end coming at all, I read this book in one sitting, it was that good!
This delectable thriller was the biggest surprise. I was immediately taken in by its riveting plot and great characters. It kept me entertained for the entire book. Highly recommend!
Hannah Ford is leaving town and her family and friends celebrate in a luxury rental home for the night of her ‘going away’ party. Putting the past with all its secrets and lies behind her, Hannah is looking forward to a fresh start. When one of the guests turns up dead after a night of celebrating, Hannah realizes it’s not the kind of send off she was imagining. Everyone on the guest list has something to hide or someone to protect.
“A man emerged from a few doors down and started along the street towards them. He was wearing jeans that were too tight, which meant he walked with something of a sideways gait, a bit like a constipated crab. His shirt was tight, too. Either he’d shrunk everything in the wash, or he was one of those blokes who confused moobs with pecs.”
Kerry Wilkinson knows how to make me giggle. With a luxury rental owner like Jeff, one has to wonder what the interior of the home must look like. Fortunately, the ladies find it lives up to the standard they’d been promised. Still, there's something off about him.
Like Jeff, there’s also something off about the ‘party.’ Imagine sitting around a table at a luxury rental and playing board games? Couldn’t they have done this at home? Then someone starts swinging on a chandelier? Now you know there’s definitely something going on that isn’t above board. Next, someone ends up dead. How did it go from an innocent ‘going away’ party to death?
This closed door mystery is a slow-burner and perfect for those who read before bed - you won’t get your pulse elevated and there’s nothing scary! It's a quick read and has a twist you won't see coming.
I was gifted this advance copy by Kerry Wilkinson, Bookouture and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.
How can a girls’ party go so horribly wrong? It does, resulting in a dead body. But why, who, and how? I dove in, determined to get to the bottom of what was happening. There some hinky things between a few of the characters. I was also perplexed as to the actions of the mother and wondered why all the secrecy was necessary. Answers are slowly revealed as I put the pieces together.
Grudges, greed, and murder make for an interesting story. Thanks goodness it didn’t happen at No. 13!
