This was a super quick read for me which I thoroughly enjoyed; I was so glad of this as my last two thrillers have been DNF's.
It was very fast paced and lots of the chapters ended on wee cliffhangers which left you wanting more.
The twists and turns were really great in particular the big reveal at the end which absolutely blindsided me, absolutely did not see it coming at all; having said that the reason I have marked it down was a lot of it was very unbelievable and farfetched, again looking at the big reveal.
I highly recommend this book to everyone, especially thriller junkies like me and I would absolutely love for this to be adapted to screen as it just screams dramatisation to me. My first by the author but absolutely won't be my last.
*Thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and Kerry Wilkinson for the copy of this book. All views are my own.*
Spectacular narration style. Every time I start a book by this author I know for sure I will be utterly entertained. I was so entertained, engaged and lost in this book. It was a superb story and I was so impressed. I loved how interesting this story was from beginning to end. It had a horror type kind of vibe while I was reading it. Best yet from this author if you ask me. Thank you NetGalley, publisher and author, for allowing me to read a free copy of this book in exchange for my review.
Hannah Ford is about to go travelling so her close family and friends hire a house for a send off party. But in the morning, one friend, Katherine, is discovered dead and the rest of the group decide to cover up the death to prevent secrets being revealed...
The Party at No. 12 is a psychological thriller set in the UK. The book is written from the third person perspectives of Hannah and Zack who is Katherine's boyfriend.
Hnnah is excited about her party but has invited a old friend at the last minute. There is tension when Katherine arrives at the party as she feels that another friend Sophie stole her boyfriend years ago. Beth doesn't think Hannah should be wasting her money on travelling while Charlotte is using drugs. But all of these niggling things are thrown into greater focus when Katherine's body is discovered the next morning.
To protect each other and themselves, the group hide the body and deny that Katherine ever attended the party. Big warning bells were ringing out for me at this point as it didn't seem logical yet the fierce need to protect loved ones is definitely something I can identify with. But Hannah knows one of them must be a killer and is plagued by guilt and fear, especially as Zach refuses to give up until he finds out the truth. I felt that the emotional elements to the book were really believable and easy to relate to.
The writing is quite fast paced and I was swept up in the plot, often goggling at the decisions the characters made. There were some fab twists which I did almost guess but I was still surprised by how they unfolded within the plot. The ending was a little abrupt for me and I had to suspend my disbelief several times but overall the book was very entertaining.
The Party at No. 12 was an enjoyable psychological thriller
Another great one from Kerry Wilkinson!! Fast paced and full of suspense. A great number of characters/suspects, and twists galore. Thanks to NetGalley for the privilege to read and review this book.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publishing house and the author for the opportunity to read a complimentary copy of this book in return for a review based upon my honest opinion.
Hannah has inherited money from her grandmother, she is at a crossroads in her life, reeling from the breakup of her marriage and having left her job. Hannah has decided to use the money to go travelling, see new worlds and meet new people. Her mom and sisters convince her to having a going away party. Hannah invites her mother, sisters Charlotte and Beth, her aunt Dawn, her best friend Sophie and her mother Janet and at the last minute she runs into old nest grinds, Katherine and invites her along as well. They rent a luxury house for their party.
Hannah is concerned about having Sophie and Katherine in the same room as once the three were the best of friends, but Sophie and Katherine haven’t spoken in years since they fell out over Thomas, Katherine’s ex-boyfriend, now Sophie’s husband. The evening starts our simple enough, board games, drinks and conversation, the tension between Sophie and Katherine makes things a little quieter. The tense night then goes from awkward to bad when the next morning, one of the party members is found dead.
The women decide to cover it up and stick to their story, little do they know that someone out there won’t stop until they know the truth. Is Hannah in danger? Is one of her friends of family a killer?
I love the way this author writes and although this book isn’t as edge of your seat as some of her others, I really enjoyed it.
Hannah is going travelling so has a going away party. However, it doesn't end very well, secrets unravel and they try to hide what happened.
I had absolutely no idea who did it in this book. It didn't cross my mind at all. This was a really good read!
Solid 4 as it was a page turner.
Although I found this to be a little dragged and out repetitive, it is still worth reading. I was not able to tell who was murderer.

This is a slow-burn thriller that builds to a satisfying, suspenseful mystery. It was a quick read that I enjoyed very much - I didn't guess who the killer was!! This is the first book I have read by Kerry Wilkerson - will be checking out more.
Really enjoyed this book
I’ve read all Kerry’s books and none have disappointed
A few surprises in this book
I didn’t guess who the murderer was
Thanks NetGalley
I'm not sure where to begin with this one. I went through a lot of emotions. I was angry most of the time. LOL. Everyone just made poor decisions and a lot of it would not work in the real world. I thought it would have been a whodunit thriller. It was not. Despite everything, I continue to read it to figure out the outcome. For that, it kept me entertained.
Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read The Party at Number 12 by Kerry Wilkinson.
I love Kerry's books however his latest audiobook The Party at Number 12 by Kerry Wilkinson Narrated by: Tamsin Kennard, and Andrew Kingston was excellent. The narrators were excellent and did well telling the story and having you gripped from the beginning. All of Kerry's books are a 5 Star read and this one was no different.
I highly recommend this book and audiobook! Excellent book.
Big thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel and audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
Hannah's life is at an impasse - divorced, job not going anywhere - so when she inherits some money from her grandmother, she decides to go traveling. To send her off, her and some friends rent a nice house and spend some time together drinking and reminiscing before heading to bed - the problem is, one of them doesn't wake up.
The main action of the book happens right at the beginning of the novel, and the rest of the novel is the aftermath the really explodes into chaos as everyone tries to keep it together. And things really do begin to fall apart - with plenty of twists and turns coming throughout the book to keep things interesting. And the final revelation twist is quite the knock-out punch. I really did not see that one coming!
Hannah was a good character, though I have to say, this is one of those plots where you're shouting at them to just call the police to begin with because that will make things simpler - but then there wouldn't be a story, would there? So Hannah spend the rest of the book in a bit of a panic as things around her slowly disintegrate into chaos and confusion, which was interesting to watch, especially as someone who understands the quarter-life crisis viewpoint. She was a well-done character.
I would definitely read more from this author. She can weave a good story together and throw in a nice twist!
The Party at No. 12 by Kerry Wilkinson is a crime thriller about a family get together to say goodbye to one of the family who is going travelling. Hannah is going to use the money from her grandmother’s inheritance to go travelling. She is divorced,, living back at home with her mother and her younger step sister, she is ready for a change.
The group of 8 meet up at No. 12, which is a bungalow with enough beds for 7 and one to sleep on the settee. One of the party is dead in the morning.

Harriet has had a bit of a rough time lately but thanks to an inheritance from her Grandmother she has money to go travelling & sort her head out. Her mother insists on a send-off party & hires a big house overnight for a get together. Hannah could do without it really as there is always some friction but nevertheless she goes along with it. Come the morning one of the guests is dead-there are reasons why the involvement of the police is not a good idea & as the dead woman had no one close a cover up is decided to be the best way out. However someone was close to her & wants to find out what happened to her,
I enjoyed this book although it did stretch believability a bit. I liked Hannah & hoped that she managed to get away- I thought her mother was a nightmare! Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.
This book left me sad and honestly wanting to smack some sense into Hannah, the MC.
This is about a house party or you can call it a get together like Hannah insisted throughout the book. One of the guests dies and it’s chalked up to and accident.
Things escalate from there as secrets are revealed. I didn’t know what was happening. It’s not like the books I usually read. It was different and slightly dull in parts.
Thank you NetGalley & Bookouture for the e-book in exchange for my honest review.
Hannah and her sisters come into some inheritance and after her divorce, she decides to go travelling.
Her family want to throw a party as a farewell.... But Hannah can't help but feel this isn't a good idea especially when she invites both her friends who can't stand each other.
The following morning things take an unpleasant turn when Hannah wakes up to find one of the partygoers dead in their bed.
It had to be an accident but it doesn't look good on the people that attended the party. Will the police think it was one of them? They all have something to lose by calling the police but could it be more sinister? What if there is someone lurking around the luxury rental? Or worse, what if it was someone Hannah knows and loves who could do the unthinkable?
This book took me on the ride of my life! It kept me on my toes the whole time. The twists were artfully done to the extent that I had no clue what the truth was and I never figured it! I was blown away by the ending. My husband was laughing at me so hard when I sat bolt up right in bed and shouted WTF NOOOOO. I'm usually so composed.
I could relate to Hannah with her family dynamic. I could also empathize with her need to have both her friends back in her life.
The more I find out about the deceased, the more I felt the story of their history was so tragic. You don't realize it when they are alive but your whole attitude towards them will change.
I totally misunderstood Zack the whole way through too so this book will have you guessing and kept an incredible delectable pace that will leave you invigorated but satisfied. No unanswered questions and not one lull in the story. This book ticks all the boxes for a psychological read and then some.
If you need a twisty little breath of fresh air that will set your heart racing like you are on a rollercoaster but not get your hair out of place, then this is your next must read!

I received The Party at Number 12 from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinion. Once again, Kerry Wilkinson does not disappoint! This book has all you could want and more to keep you guessing until the very last page. I found this book to be very fast paced, lots of suspense and a page turner, which is exactly what I would expect from her writing. I loved it and can't wait for more by this author! Do yourself a favor and read it as soon as you can!
I found The Party at Number 12 by Kerry Wilkinson to be somewhat of a letdown. It starts off with an interesting premise and I had high expectations for it, but ultimately there was not enough genuine suspense for me. The characters were sometimes predictable and the plot dragged for me.
The characters disappointed me. I felt their reactions to the situation they find themselves in to be odd and poorly thought out. I wanted to believe that they were smarter than that, especially Hannah who I really wanted to like. She seemed to me someone who would know better than to lie in the given situation.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.
This book was full of twists and turns and literally had me guessing until the end. Highly recommend. A girls night gone wrong. That will have you guessing until the end. Absolutely loved this book. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The story starts with a group of women - related and friends - gathering for a going away party for Hannah. Her Aunt Dawn seems to have bought out all the alcohol in town. They've rented a house which is beautifully renovated and furnished. Yet why are there 2 cheap ceramic dogs in the house? Why is there a locked "cleaning cupboard"?
Charlotte and Hannah have inherited a major sum of money from their paternal grandmother. Their sister Beth wasn't included because she has a different father. The sisters however chose to divide the money equally. Beth doesn't agree that Hannah wants to spend the money on travel. She thinks she should go back to school or to save it up.
Hannah impulsively invited Katherine who was a mutual friend of hers and Sophie's. Sophie and Katherine haven't spoken since Katherine's boyfriend ended up as Sophie's husband.
The question of the book is - how far would you go to protect your family and friends from something horrific. If you think that you've gotten away with the perfect crime, there is always something or someone that you've overlooked and everything will come crashing down on this family of women.
