i love a shoujo manga that revolves around secrets and memories lost.

in this one, a group of friends are all keeping the memories and circumstances around the lost memories of honatsu, the main character who is curious about what being in love feels like. the question has her internally at odds, as she wonders if it’s a slow build and accumulation that has her drawn to her best friend, toma. it’s only when she’s with the recent transfer shun, that his answer of being in love feels like falling, that she questions it.

there’s so much more to uncover and i’m so interested to see how all the puzzle pieces come together. the art style is awe-worthy and i can’t wait to see what new tidbits of information and memories are unfolded in future volumes. the story is built around these 4 characters and i really think it has fantastic potential to pull at my heartstrings by the end. this has all but reinvigorated my love of manga again.

Falling Drowning was something I ended up enjoying more than I thought. Honatsu is in high school, but started late because she was absent due to being sick. She and Toma are childhood friends and many think they date, because of how close they are. Honatsu is wondering herself if it's love too. Then a transfer student named Shun appears and suddenly Honatsu starts feeling something, even though the boy seems rude and hard to approach. Honatsu herself was in an accident when she was eleven and cannot remember anything before that really and Shun has something to do with her past. I really liked the mystery part and how well it's handled. Also, how Toma and Shun are friends is great and how they both know stuff about Honatsu makes this super interesting. The manga has basic elements in it, but does them better and the characters actually have personas too.

The art looks good and not too sparkly. In a sense everyone is very normal, which I liked a lot. Especially Honatsu feels like a normal girl without the sickly super cuteness. She's not a helpless girly creature either. The rhythm is nice and the story just flows like water, so it took no time to read this. I surely want to know about the mystery in the manga!

i was pulled into the story right away! i really loved the art style. i am normally not a huge fan of love triangles but i have a feeling that this one is going to be interesting. i really like the small mystery aspect surrounding the accident aswell. i am curious how the story process and will definitely read the following volumes!

I've read so many romance mangas.. and yet, this feels a little unique because of the inclusion of the mystery. What caused the accident that gave the mc amnesia? What was her life really like before her accident? The suspense makes me want to pick up the next volume just to learn more and more! The boys that appear to be romantic rivals are quite interesting as well. I love the combo of a broody serious type with the golden retriever gamer boy. Think Tamaki and Kyoya-senpai from Ouran High School Host Club. Swoon.
All in all, a promising start to the series.

Honatsu doesn't remember anything from before she was a kid, after an accident, and now that a new transfer student showed up in her school, things are starting to get messy and confusing. It's an interesting premise, and I liked the love triangle (despite thinking it could - and should - definitely end in all three of them dating in peace); what I enjoyed the most, however, is the mystery behind the memory loss.

The characters seem to all be hiding something, and I'm really curious to see where this is going, and if Honatsu will ever get her memories back again - I think that's mostly what got my attention, instead of the romance, which gets most of the pages here (and isn't developed very well, at least for this volume). I thought it would be something silly just to create drama between the two love interests and the heroine, but it seems to be more than that. Nice.

Thank you #NetGalley and #Kodansha for this amazing manga volume, #FallingDrowning1 has exceeded all my expectations! I thought it was for sure going to be a cute high school romance manga, but it has angst, it has mystery and suspense. The characters are interesting and I love how self aware the female main character is. Love a good love triangle, and i am looking forward to seeing how it will all unfold. The ending was such a cliffhanger I need to read the second volume as soon as it comes out!

HOLY MOLY
that was so so so so good
the ending left me wanting so much more, I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for volume two.
obviously, a very quick read
the art was a phenomenal job
even more, the characters were very likable and seem very relatable
the suspense starting to build up in this volume was so "suspenseful" (I couldn't think of a different better work :p)
the whole thing about her memory and her past and how she was linked to him~ I JUST WANNA KNOW :D

Oh wow! This first volume definitely piqued my interest!!! I want more NOW!
If you like shojo mixed with a little mystery, you will enjoy this.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for this eArc!
Beautiful art! I felt that the male leads resembled both boys from Love in Focus, with the childhood friend and the newcomer who end up competing for a girl’s affection. The plot is pretty cliche, but honestly I’m not here for award winning plot development. Wholesome boys and heartfelt romance is enough for me. Personally, love triangles are a trickly subject because I can never fully commit to a side, but nevertheless, they sure are addicting. The foreshadowing that Shun likely knew Honatsu in the past also really got me engaged, and I’m super curious to see how it will play out along with the mystery surrounding Honatsu’s accident and her amnesia! As of now, I’m team Shun(as the childhood friend almost always loses lol) but Toma is the absolute sweetest and I wish I had him for myself😭. I really enjoyed this and i’m eagerly anticipating the next volume!

“How do you think love starts..?
Falling.
That’s kind of how it feels. At least to me.”

Honatsu just started her second yr of high school and there are a lot of rumors going around that she’s dating her childhood friend toma. She is still trying to figure out her feelings when a new transfer student shows up, shun Tachibana. During her time is trying to figure out her feelings, there is stuff going on behind the scenes about honastu and her past.

Where do I begin!?! I freaking loved it. I’m obsessed! There is honestly so much I love about it. This is probably one of the best shoos I’ve ever read. It was a bit of a slower start but MAN OH MAN! I loved the story and the art. The slow build of honastu falling for Tachibana was done so well. Ever single encounter with was made me want to scream I love them so much. AND THAT PLOT TWIST?!? I didn’t see that coming. Whewwww, it really added to story and made things messier in the best way. Overall 5/5 if you like shoujo this is a MUST READ! I will be buying a physical copy.

ARC COPY...Hmm promising start to the series so far. I would predict it would be liked by "high school love" genre fans and I do like how the two male protagonists are first and fore most concerned with the care of the girl's heart and physical well being.

I already can't wait for more!

This has the typical feel of a high school, love triangle shojo manga... and then they throw in that our main character has amnesia and she might have a connection to the new boy in school that she doesn't know about.

I'm hooked.

I really loved the art style and the characters. Every character felt so real, even the secondary characters. I really can't wait to learn more about them and what exactly happened in the past. This is a series I'm going to need for my collection.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing the E-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Story starts with typical romance tropes but the execution got me hooked. The main female lead is looking to be a strong willed character. With lost memories, childhood friends to maybe lovers and a potential murder I'm ready for the next volume.

Rating: 3.8 out of 5
-Characters: 3/5
-Cover: 5/5
-Story: 3.5/5
-Writing: 4/5
Genre: Romance
Type: Manga
Worth?: Yeah

First want to thank Netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this in exchange for an honest review! When reading on what the manga was about it pulled my attention. I am usually not the biggest fan of love triangles, just because they are so predictable. So when it comes to the romance I think it is bland, vanilla, and everyday. You have three teens. 2 boys in love with the same girl. Basic, right?

So what kept me reading through? Her lack of memories. She has gotten into an accident and can't remember a good chunk of her life. Now that got me somewhat interested but it is what happened during that accident that makes me want to come back. So even if the rating is 3.8 I am not going to round it up to a 4 because most of the books is lack luster and has been done so many times before. 3 is good because at the end of the day I am going to be interested enough to read the next one.

A lovely start to a high school romance manga!

Falling Drowning volume 1 introduces us to our main character Honatsu Tenma, a high school student starting a new school year in the same class as her childhood friends, Toma and Akine. Her friends are protective of her, especially Toma, which students around them notice and assume they are dating. She finds out she's also in the same class as the new transfer student, Shun Tachibana, who is a friend of Toma as well. This volume commences the beginning of Honatsu's confusing feelings for Toma and Shun, not knowing the secrets they hide from her about their past.

This book is beautifully illustrated. It matches the youthfulness of the story and the emotions the characters are feeling. While this does have a few shoujo cliche scenes in the volume, the backstory and the mystery of Honatsu's past accident make it interesting that you can't help but be intrigued. I really like Honatsu and her determination to be independent. At the same time, I understand why Toma and Akine are protective of her and why Shun acts the way he does.

This volume is a good start to an engaging story, and I can't wait for volume two!

Thank you, NetGalley and Kodansha, for the eARC in exchange for honest feedback.

Honatsu is trying to figure out who she really is since she was in an accident that caused amnesia, but she is also trying to learn what it feels like to be in love. She feels comfortable and safe with her childhood friend,Toma, but she is getting a different feeling from the new transfer, Shun.

I really enjoyed this one so far. I like how Honatsu is trying to figure things out on her own even though she has several people around her that are protective of her. I am curious on what happened before her accident because it's giving off the vibe Shun knew Honatsu and he keeps pushing her away (although she is persistent). Volume 1 is leaving me wanting to find out what happened and what will happen moving forward.

This story is part mystery, part romance about a young, high school girl named Honatsu who lost her memories after a bad accident when she was younger. She gets along well with her male best friend, Toma, and is often mistaken as his girlfriend. She is unsure if she actually loves him back, but after meeting the transfer student Shun she is doubly unsure. I am not a fan of the lost memories romance trope and therefore was not invested in the story. The romance on the part of Toma felt a little too pushy and shoehorned to me, especially since Honatsu doesn't have all her memories and is portrayed as more naive because of it. I wouldn't dismiss this story if you don't mind that kind of a plot, but it just didn't sit well for me personally.

This was such a good read that I sped through in a very short amount of time. It was adorable, as well as full of intrigue, mystery and cute romantic elements. There is also an incredible twist at the end that left me breathless, I need volume 2 like yesterday.

Honatsu, Toma, and Tachibana are in their second year of high school. Toma and Honatsu are childhood friends and it’s clear Toma wants to take their relationship further. Tachibana is a transfer student, who Honatsu just met….maybe? Seven years ago there was an accident and Honatsu lost all her memories. The mystery deepens throughout the volume and the last line had me going whaaaaat!?

This is a high school shojo romance with a love triangle and mystery thriller vibes, and I’m into it!
