As I was reading this, I thought that I would enjoy it, but it was just so bland and the plot turned out to not be very interesting to me.

“Epicenter” seems to require an earthquake and it does. However, the quake in LA is only an overlay for a cop who has some psychological issues about a former murderer that he captures but then doesn’t fully restrain. That criminal, Abel, they’d ends up killing the cop’s son.

Enter a chase with overtones of a drug cartel, Japanese mob, and a teenager trying to escape. All these roll together for a psychic thriller. The cop is having issues that manifest themselves during his attempt to save innocents and capture the bad guys.

The characters are interesting but sometimes a bit hard to follow. This could be off putting to some but a reader might find this intriguing. Try to see if you like it.

I didn’t know what to expect as I started reading this book. The beginning really disturbed me and I didn’t know how the character was going to react. It was beyond me how a human being could be exposed to such rawness and despair at such a horrific crime, and yet, still have the capability to move forward and maintain his composure and his temper!

You would think a natural disaster like an earthquake would bring humanity together, but that sure didn’t happen. There was the cartel and the Yakuza giving chase to the detective and the young boy with guns blazing! I honestly felt that I was a character in the book because by the time I was done reading, I was exhausted and very tired! Great exhilarating ride! A must read!
Will there be a follow-up read? It sure seems like it! Thank you #NetGalley for providing me with AC!
