I really enjoy Jemmas writing style. She has an incredible talent at keeping you guessing.

For me this book was quite a slow burner and took me a while to get to grips with what was happening. The second half of the book is much faster paced than the first half and is incredibly addictive.

I really didn't see the twist at the end happening, it's so very clever and that's what I love with Jemmas writing, her endings really do come out the blue.

Thank you to NetGalley and Legends Press for providing a digital copy of the book for me to read in exchange for my honest opinion.

Synopsis: Lilith is a successful Hollywood screenwriter and life in LA could not be more different to the small Buckinghamshire village where she grew up. But everything changes when her ex-boyfriend's child goes missing. Lilith is convinced that she's responsible, and that she might/might unwittingly have done something terrible. The disappearance reignites old fears and compulsions and the psychological trauma of her childhood comes rushing back. Lilith is forced to confront the past and watch the foundations of the world she has created to protect herself and her loved ones disintegrate around her.

My Thoughts: The chapters vary in length, some are short, and others are longer. The story is narrated by Lilith, our MC, from her perspective. It started as a slow burn but did heat up and was a page turner. It is hard to review this book without giving to much away. It is a love story in a since, without romance. It is dark and twisty. The author’s writing is creative and impacting. The characters are developed in such a way, that as you go along this journey with Lilith, you are feeling the depth of the character. The twists I did not see coming. This was a very enjoyable book.

Lilith who is the main character of the story, who herself has a dark traumatic past, now faced with another after meeting an old friend.

Though the overall story or plot is there, was not enough for me to gripped the way I want to visualize the story behind these characters.

Its an average read for me.

3.2/5 stars

Lilith left the UK behind and has built a good life for herself in LA as a screenwriter, Now though, her past has come roaring back to haunt her and she's got to decide how to deal with it. This is a tough one to review without spoilers. Know that it's a bit scattered and that Lilith isn't particularly sympathetic but it's intriguing. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC,

I am afraid this novel wasn’t for me. Far too slow and labours over the same scenario again and again. New most of the plot twists well before the end. A disappointment after what I thought after the premise offered. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it.
