Pride and Prejudice is a favourite and well known story to me. I already have the audiobook read by Juliet Stevenson, which is excellent. However, when I saw that another favourite narrator, Adjoa Andoh, had recorded a version, I had to have it. I was not disappointed!

I won’t here review the story, as it is such a well known one, except to say that it is a lovely historical romance, with plenty of humour too.

Adjoa Andoh does an excellent job of narration. Her great range of expression really brings out the humour and little dramas of the story, in a way that none of the other audiobooks have done. I noticed things in the story that I had missed on previous readings.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audiobook. I felt that the range of accents, though perhaps not strictly accurate to the period, added something to the story, and increased my enjoyment. As this is fiction, I don’t feel that *all* productions need stick strictly to historical accuracy.

Overall, this is an excellent version of a favourite story. It makes a welcome addition to my audiobook collection. I will keep the Juliet Stevenson narration for falling asleep to, and have Adjoa Andoh for bringing out the full feelings of the story during the day.

This audiobook production of Pride and Prejudice was a perfect comfort read that I devoured in a single wintery day. Adjoa Andoh is a complete treasure - I had to request this advance copy as soon as I saw her name attached to it, and she gave an excellent performance as expected. There is something magical that happens in audiobooks like this where a single performer can do all the voices so well, making it easy to suspend disbelief and enter into the story seamlessly. For instance, and I hope this is not TMI, but "Mr. Darcy" was just as sexy to me in this as Colin Firth in the BBC adaptation (lol!). To give a more objective take on things, one think I appreciated in particular was the slight regional accent she gave him in private moments; it was a nice touch. I'm from the US but I am pretty sure it was accurate to the region he's supposed to be from in the story (Derbyshire.) All in all, highly recommend this audiobook, and it will likely be my go-to version in the future when I pick up this book again.

Adjoa Andoh is AMAZING

I just jumped on the chance to be able to get this audio arc with Ms. Adjoa Andoh. My most favorite book is Get a life Chloe Brown by Talia hibbert and Ms. Andoh narrated that lovely book. I also recently found out that she plays Ms. Danbury in Bridgerton tv show. So I must admit that became very fond of her work.

Now to hear her voice this classics is a joy.

I have never read i’m pride and prejudice but I must’ve met I am one of those who have watched every single version of this book. So now taking the step to reading this novel has been an experience. A joyful experience because it was narrated so eloquently.

I really enjoyed this novel and I really look forward to reading more of Jane Austin‘s work. Now if you’re gonna have Ms. Andoh narration for the books I am all for it.

I highly recommend this audiobook version of Pride and Prejudice, it was fun and lively and I really enjoyed the tone and the paste taken in this book.

I want to thank NetGalley and Saga and other for letting me review this Arc.

I don't know how many times I've read Pride and Prejudice but I remember the wave of feelings that is felt in the words of Jane Austen and this audio book is the perfect second way to enjoy them
.
Adjoa Andoh's voice with its perfect intonation and accents transports the reader to the Georgian era. Adjoa makes different tones for each character and it is magnificent how the environment relates, if I close my eyes I can imagine myself inside the story
.
It is the perfect book to start with the work of Jane Austen through the delicacy and perfect voice of Adjoa Andoh, and also to give as a gift to any regency fanatic
.
Thanks to Saga Egmont audio for give me the possibility to enjoy this book again through the beautiful narration of Adjoa Andoh

It was high time I revisited P&P. Adjoa Andoh does an excellent job narrating this classic. I fell in love with this story all over again, and yes, I was giggling at Andoh's impression of Mrs B and her nerves.

The narration is crisp and delightful. I have the book so many times before and to hear an audiobook now was a fantastic experience. Totally loved it.

Some of the writings in this book reminded me of Moliere’s plays in been witty and a specific type of humor.
Some people seem to take objection to the narrator but personally I think she did a great job. It might even have been close to how I envisioned Jane Austin was hearing the voices in her head as she was writing this story. Mrs. Bennet voice is shrill but you can image an overexcited (a bit on the hysterical) not to intelligent woman been preoccupied with her status within the community and overly anxious to see her daughters married off so she can brag about it to the neighbors. The voice for Lydia was perfect. You almost wanted to slap the scatterbrained teenager whose infatuations for the young males gets her into trouble without her ever realizing the problems she has caused for everybody and that she is simply been used by the man she run away with. For any Jane Austen Fan, listening to this book was a real enjoyment

I've been a fan of Pride and Prejudice for many years, and was excited to get my hands on the latest audiobook version of the classic. Adjoa Andoh did a fantastic job telling the story and transporting listeners back to regency England. I'm sure both fans of Jane Austen's writing and Andoh's acting will love this new audiobook.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy of the audiobook.

Excellent audio telling of Elizabeth & Darcy. It followed the Colin Firth movie storyline. The narrator created excellent characters.

I mean who doesn't love an audio classic? Being an avid Austen fan and lover of all adaptations, I had to give this one a listen when it came up. Does not disappoint!
Adjoa Andoh truly brings the characters to life. Each character is distinguishable and feels fully real, capturing the youthfulness of Lydia and the nerves of Mrs Bennet, to the fawning Mr Collins and proud Darcy, perfectly.
My favourite thing about this audio book is that this is the first I have heard Mr Darcy read in a regional accent, and to be honest I much prefer it. The words flow so much better in a Northern accent and feel more real, especially his declaration of love to Lizzie.
This is one I can see myself listening to again in the future and will be recommending it to others., especially those who maybe haven't read it as it really does justice tot he well loved classic.

The five Bennet sisters are in danger of someday losing their inheritance when their dad dies because they do not have a brother. Despite the pressure from her mother to marry well, Elizabeth Bennet is determined to marry only on her own terms. When she meets Mr. Darcy, his haughtiness turns her off, and he is not impressed by Elizabeth either. They may in time find that their first impressions were not correct.

I made it 37 years without ever having read Pride and Prejudice, so when I saw this audiobook, I decided to give it a go and see why so many people rave about this story. Unfortunately, I really did not like it at all. It’s mostly just a story of people sitting around, talking about others behind their backs. In particular, I do not recommend this audiobook, either. I did not care for the voices Adjoa Andoh gave to several of the characters, especially the screeching Mrs. Bennet.

Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an audio ARC of this book.

Pride and Prejudice is my absolute favourite classic! By now I have lost count on the number of times I have read the book and seen it on screen although I have heard it as an audiobook only once (the Librivox production). So when this new audiobook production by Saga Egmont came up for request on NetGalley of course I grabbed at the chance to listen to it and was completely certain I would enjoy it.

Unfortunately, not so.

This audiobook is narrated by Adjoa Andoh who has starred in the Bridgerton series and I just felt she was a wrong choice to narrate the book. Her normal narration voice was very pleasing to listen to but the issue arose when she modulated her voice/pitch and accent for the different characters. Mrs. Bennet, Lydia, Caroline Bingley, Catherine d'Bourgh came off sounding very shrill and it felt they were screeching most of the time while Elizabeth, Mr. Bennet and Darcy sounded too harsh. The book is full of wit and banter between characters but listening to this audiobook it seemed that they were all fighting verbally instead. The overall effect was quite jarring to the ears. At this point, I still prefer the Librivox version narrated by Karen Savage.

My thanks to NetGalley and the audiobook publisher Saga Egmont for the audio ARC.

Rating: ⭐⭐✨💫 (narration)

I’ve begun reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen before but struggled with the language since English isn’t my first language. This audio version narrated by Adjoa Andoh helped tremendously for me with bringing the story to life. Even the language of Mr. Collins didn’t stop me to continue now 😂
The book had a bit of a slow start for me but when Elizabeth’s vision on Mr. Darcy starts to change the story gets very interesting. I like the way Jane Austen has portrayed the characters and society in that era, and the humor she had to describe the morals of the characters and their individual characteristics (Mrs Bennet and Mr Collins!) All in all nice to read a classic and I especially loved this audio version, thank you @netgalley for allowing me to listen to it and compliments to Adjoa Andoh!

The story

It feels weird to write a summary on such a famous book but here we go. The story follows the relationship of Lizzy and Mr. Darcy, a rich aristocratic landowner. The story sets in the class-conscious England of the 18th century. The 5 Bennet daughters have been raised by their mother with one purpose: the find a husband. When a wealthy bachelor rents a house near them, the oldest sister soon falls in love with him. His friend however, Mr. Darcy, acts snobbish to Elizabeth. She finds him totally obnoxious at first since his manners are rude but Mr. Darcy slowly starts to fall in love with her and their feelings towards each other start to change.

There is nothing that I can possibly say about Pride And Prejudice that has not already been said, probably many times... This has been a favourite classic / romance from back when I first read Jane Austen, and is most definitely my most favourite of the author's works.

This was my first time listening to Pride And Prejudice as an audiobook, and it was an amazing experience... I giggled, sighed in exasperation and rapture, and had a thoroughly fun time. I listened to the version of the audiobook by Adjoa Andoh... I didn't count the number of times I re heard chapters and snippets...

Firstly Pride and Prejudice is a classic that doesn’t need any kind of review.
Adjoa Andoh has a fabulous voice that is excellent for audio and if you loved Bridgerton and the classics such as this then it’s certainly not to be missed

Format: audiobook
Author: Jane Austen ~ Title: Pride and Prejudice ~ Narrator: Adjoa Andoh
Content: 4 stars ~ Narration: 4 stars

Pride and Prejudice is one of those classics I wanted to read for a long time but never started. I rarely read or enjoy typical romance novels, only those somehow different.

Mr. And Mrs. Bennett have five daughters and no male heir. After Mr. Bennett’s death, they will lose their home and money. So especially Mrs. Bennet is eager to marry her daughters well. That is - to someone with enough money, of course. It is a story of love, family, pride, and prejudice. But more than anything else, for me, this novel is an excellent critique of the upper class of the time and a degrading necessity for a woman to marry well.

This novel was still not quite to my taste. I sometimes felt it was too long. But I enjoyed listening to an audiobook, anyway. For me, it worked better than a book.

The narrator is an excellent Adjoa Andoh. Her interpretation was pretty good, although I would imagine some voices to be different, like Elisabeth’s. But she did well anyway. She had to read a lot of characters, so that was not a simple task.

Thanks to Saga Egmont Audio for the ALC and this opportunity! This is a voluntary review and all opinions are my own.

I love Pride and Prejudice and this is an excellent audio adaptation. The production value is very high and the voice acting is excellent. My only nitpicky issue is that Darcy and the Bingleys were given strong regional accents. I believe the accents are accurate to where the characters are from, but historically, people of their class would not have had strong regional accents.

I love Pride and Prejudice and have read it so many times I have much of it memorized, so I know the story well. It goes without saying that the book is wonderful and a classic. This audio version does not fall into my favorite renditions. The accents for Darcy and many other characters did not reflect the social class they are meant to be a part of. I could see if this were a reimagined version of the story this would be an interesting take, but as it is a straightforward reading of the text, it doesn’t work to give the epitome of posh and upper crust English breeding a lower class accent that wavers into Irish inflections sporadically. The accents weren’t bad, per se, they just didn’t work for this classic.
