I had been on a very lean spell of books that have been very disappointing so there was a lot of pressure on Edge of Civilisation. Luckily it didn’t disappointment.
An original way of storytelling and a very interesting plot. The characters were all well developed and believable. The twists came but more importantly the shocks kept the tension brilliantly.
Well this one while extremely dark was hugely enjoyable overall. Its hard to go into the plot of this without revealing spoilers which you should really discover yourself.
Told in the present and the past - the present being a recorded interview of a detective by internal affairs and the past the case he was working on. The case being missing young girls, murder and even darker subjects as the book drifts into the world of the dark web.
This was an excellent easy read(despite the dark subject matter) A very well put together story and I really enjoyed the format it was presented in. The characters were believable and you had sympathy with the not quite so straight cop.
My first read by Tony McHale was a very enjoyable one and I look forward to more by the author in the future.
Thanks to the publisher for the ARC through Netgalley
