Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK for the complimentary copy of Trapped by Camilla Lackberg: Henrik Fexeus

What an opening scene!

The body of woman has been found and Mina enlists the help of mentalist (magician), Vincent to help with the investigation.
As we progress through the book, we discover that Vincent is more involved in this murder than he would have liked to have been. Although he is not directly responsible, his history has come back to haunt him.

This book had me intrigued from the beginning and the twist at the end of the book was laid out really well throughout the book.

In this book we get to solve the crime of several people that have been murdered in different ways. Can the detectives in charge solve the crime before the clock runs down?

This book was a translation and I felt like it came across really well. It was quite a long book but it was packed with so much that I just didn’t want it to end. It was a really good plot that kept me guessing and I just didn’t see the twist until it had happened. I also really liked the. Characters especially because they were quite flawed. I’d like to carry on this book series and see where the characters go.

Thank you for this ARC.
I love Camilla Lackbergs previous books and this one with Henrik Fexeus does not disappoint. A murderer using magicians tools is weird, but this is dark, creepy and a great read. Lots of twists and turns.

I enjoyed this even though it was a bit of a labourious read and slightly difficult to get through at times. I loved the flowering relationship between Vincent and Mina

Awesome.
It’s a case unlike anything detective Mina Dabiri has seen before. A woman trapped inside a magician’s box, with swords pierced through. But this time, it’s not a magic trick. It’s murder. Knowing she has a terrifying killer on her hands, Mina enlists the help of celebrity mentalist, Vincent Walder. Only he can give her an insight into the secret world of magic and illusions. Mina and Vincent soon discover that the murder victim has the roman numeral III engraved on her leg. The killer is counting down. There are going to be three more murders. And time is running out to stop them.
I loved it. It was a quick read.
Thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK Harper Fiction for giving me an advance copy.

I found this very drawn out and not very easy to read. I almost gave up after a few chapters but persevered. Not sure I'll read anymore by this author. My thanks to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

I was drawn into the investigation of the murder A book you can't put down. And sometimes I even had to remind myself to breathe. If you're looking for a mystery with relateable characters, this is the book to read.

Thanks to Netgalley and publishers Harper Collins for an ARC of this novel in return for an honest review. Unfortunately, I found this book a grind to get through. Having recently given up on another book, which I never do, but for very good reasons, I was determined to try to finish this one but had to give up again just over halfway in. Life is just too short and so many other books are waiting to be read. I requested this book because I’m a great fan of Camillia Lackberg’s other books, written with her previous writing partner So I was full of expectations. I was disappointed. If I hadn’t requested it I would have given up after the first horrible, disgusting chapter. I do not read a book to be physically repulsed. There are other bad moments of both a physical and sexual nature.

But almost as bad was the rambling writing of this large book. My Kindle informed me at the start that it would take me over nine hours to read. Some of the core ideas of the story are good, but there is so much rambling inconsequence. A good editor should have been used to remove chunks of the novel and pull the whole thing together. With books written in a language other than English, I’ve always assumed that they must be good to warrant the time and effort of translation. Not in this case. I’m afraid that I won’t be looking for another of Camilla Lackberg's books

A standalone thriller from the popular Scandinavian author. Overlong, gruesome in places, this book was not for me. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc

I used to love Camila Lackberg's mysteries but they became a bit boring. This one, even if it's a slow burning story, kept me hooked and guessing.
It seems that she's back and starting to write entertaining and gripping mysteries again.
The setting is intriguing and I liked the storytelling.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

I read this book because I love magic and I love a murder mystery. When a body is found in a magician’s cabinet, Vincent, a professional mentalist is asked to join an unorthodox police team to solve the crime. When more magical victims turn up, Vincent realises he is in a race against time.
I really enjoyed the book, although found it slow going at first and almost gave up. Thankfully, I decided to read one more chapter, which is when I got hooked and stayed enthralled until the end.

This Scandi thriller is a very slow burner where a young magician causes untold problems in his future. A good read but could have been a hundred pages less!

Trapped was a brilliant story. I really liked the main characters and it was good to see Autism and OCD represented so well and using them to bond the characters. The story was quite sad in parts, I really felt for some of the characters; I was totally engrossed in the story. I will be reading the next book in the series when it comes out and I recommend this book to everyone.
