A criminal organisation is targeting young people as forced organ donors for wealthy clients. When they abduct Cameron, his best friend Beth - with whom he has always shared a special ability - must track him down with the help of their friends and allies before it's too late.
'I Know What You're Thinking' is a tense, fast-paced, and dark thriller. I found some of the content quite upsetting/disturbing - it's definitely a story that gets under your skin. A multi-PoV story, for my personal preferences there were a few too many characters' narratives to follow, so I struggled somewhat to connect emotionally with their journeys because of moving through so many different characters' heads. I would recommend 'I Know What You're Thinking' to readers who enjoy dark thrillers with multiple perspectives, whose interpersonal connections are explored over the course of the story.
CW: Abduction; injections; captivity/imprisonment; organ snatching; threat of purposefully induced miscarriage/abortion
I am grateful to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an ARC of 'I Know What' You're Thinking'. These opinions are my own.
A really enjoyable, well written book with a great storyline and well developed characters. I will definitely be putting this author on my list of authors to look out for.
In a slightly futuristic world two friends, Beth and Cameron, have a connection most attribute to twins. They can feel what the other is thinking and when they are in danger. In the same world a company makes a lot of money by giving wealthy people new organs. When Cameron is snatched as a organ donor, Beth knows something is wrong and she needs to help Cameron.
This YA book is very enjoyable and a quick read. I had a hard time putting it down so that may be why it was a quick read! I loved the aspect of the future world such as a card that you carried with all of your information, from health info to financial info and more. Very interesting idea. I could easily envision the plot happening in real life. There are many important characters in the book and I loved meeting them. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a YA thriller with a little extra!
Phil is a new author for me, so I didn't know what to expect. I requested this book based on the description and cover, boy am I glad I did. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review. It was truly an awesome read! Highly recommend. I will be reading more from this author
I had mixed feelings about I Know What You're Thinking. The story was exciting and kept me interested, but I found the near-future setting a little confusing, and it didn't seem like the connection between Beth and Cameron really added anything, since Beth's team had to use all traditional tactics to find and rescue Cameron. All in all I enjoyed reading it, but it's not anything I would re-read.
