This memoir follows the story of our author Cat who needs to make money in order to support her sister in law school and the feral street cats she comes across. Desperate for ways to come up with decent, steady money, she decides to sell her body. Throughout this book you get to see both sides of her life. The call girl side and then the loving, caring person she is with her sister and the cats. I found this memoir to be very interesting. I kept wanting to see what was happening next and it kept me entertained. You can see how much Cat cares about the animals she is caring for. At different points in this book, she gives the reader tips on how to rescue and care for these cats if they were to find themselves in a similar situation which I found really nice.
I would recommend this book to anyone who isn’t afraid to hear about the nitty gritty of both sex work and rescuing cats. Some parts were tough to read but they were important. This book has a lot of steamy scenes as well to keep in mind. I would highly recommend to someone openminded looking for an intriguing memoir to pick up!
I enjoyed this book about a British cat rescuer who becomes a hooker to cover big expenses related to her cat rescuing and helping her family out. She’s paying big bills helping her sister become a lawyer and she is so proud of her. Lots of scenes from her work are included which are pretty crazy at times. Reminds me of long, long ago when I read the Happy Hooker by Xaviera Hollander. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Sex and cats, such an appealing combination for most women I’m sure.
I really did enjoy this book, it’s clear Cat’s passion sits with the cats as the level of details when describing their needs, looks ect compared to that of the sex is far superior. I do feel that I wanted more of that sided. I feel like I missed a whole chunk with her time is Australia.
Being a true story the ending felt like it came to a rushed end but I guess that’s to be expected as the story’s not over yet and I found myself really wanting her to cut off Mr Gold, it might be me but he came across as a toxic person to have in the life someone who obviously cares deeply.
I’m not sure if I was meant to find this as funny as I did but it is pretty damn funny! The fact that this is based in truth makes it all the more hilarious as you imagine the scenarios in real life. The writing itself challenged me a bit as the pace seemed a bit odd and I found myself struggling to follow some of the trails and wondering if I had missed something.
This book was a little odd. The storyline was full of potential but it felt really choppy. There were some scenes the author would start and then they'd end abruptly and I was left thinking - wait, what? What happened next? The book jumped around a lot and while I felt like so many of the sub-plots had such potential, those storylines felt abandoned rather than fleshed out. I was disappointed when it came to an end and I still had so many questions.
I actually really loved this, I love that Cat is a real person with real stories, I was rooting for her to make that money. The parlour scenes had me swooning, sweating, cringing and a couple of times slightly concerned. I want another book, I want to know what happens next! I have so many questions about Mr Gold, the boyfriend. Did he ever find out? Did they marry? How did you meet? More in-depth review on my blog!
Interesting enough that I read this in one sitting; it was more erotica than biography.
And the author reeeeeeeaally likes cats, like a lot. It's a huge part of the story, so much so that the main character is named Cat...another character is named Kitty.
Bonus though...one of the cats was named Dita, I sure don't see my name in print everyday!
Thank you to Ink! for gifting me a copy. It was my pleasure to write an honest review.
