Started reading Death at the Abbey one cold morning and ending up reading the entire book plus Death at Neptune Yard by the end of the day. I am entranced by this new series. The descriptions of the Whitney location are so vivid and complete and combine with the historical references to place the reader right in the center of the town. Characters have rich backgrounds, interesting and believable personalities and a few secrets. Intriguing plots with enough suspects to keep you guessing. I hope the third book in the series will be available soon!

Festival With Fatalities….
Another wonderful read and a worthy follow on from the first in this enjoyable series. The annual Goth Festival has come to Whitby, Liz has one of her cottages ready for guests and is there a blackmailer in town? Needless to say, Liz and Nelson are on the case. Warm and engaging (despite the murders!) cosy mystery with an endearing, yet feisty and smart, protagonist in Liz and a colourful cast of supporting characters - not least of which is Nelson, quite possibly the bravest dog in Yorkshire. The setting of Whitby and environs is perfectly painted, well depicted and works nicely as a backdrop to the mystery. The plot is well worked and intriguing, suspects numerous and red herrings well planted. A thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining mystery which was, again, gratefully devoured in one straight sitting. According to the author note there is another book in the pipeline and a further meeting with Liz and the cast, is very much anticipated.
