Absolutely LOVED the artwork! Noir Burlesque really captures the time period and the whole noir feel.. I am a huge fan of classic noir tropes and this was stunningly executed and thoroughly enjoyable!

A good start to a series, for fans of classic Noir cinema. You've got a super hot dame, a sexy outlaw and a shady "businessman" with a gaggle of goons. Beautiful art (and a nice choice to keep it black and white and red only) and of course a little sexy stuff never hurt anyone.

Noir Burlesque does exactly what it says on the tin - tells a deeply noir-style story with a femme fatale who is a burlesque dancer married to a Mob big-wig but who was in a previous relationship with the hero a tough but handsome man with debts to clear and a way with women. All very much typical but Marino is a really good artist and draws this really well using greys and occasional red highlights which really stand out. The material is very graphic sexually but not in an offensive way fitting the world these characters live in. It's a good story but not particularly original so as I said it did exactly what it says on the tin. Thanks to Europe Comics and Netgalley for the chance to read this.

Definitely noir and certainly a good read with good graphics that manage to convey the grit, the guns and the girl, as well as the grudges.

When Slick returns home after fighting in the war, his girl the beautiful Caprice is gone and is now the girlfriend of the local mafia boss, his brother owes the mafia a whole pile of cash and the local detective is after Slick because Slick might be able to help him take down the mob, but does Slick really want to? Slick is no angel and he knows what he wants but first he has to work out a way to get it.

This graphic novel gets off to a great start and definitely conveys darkness, flawed characters and morally questionable motives. There are no real heroes here (except the cat) but almost immediately the reader is drawn to Slick, waiting to find out how he will negotiate or shoot his way out of the web that he finds himself in.

This is a story of gangs, grudges and guns all packaged into a graphic novel that manages to capture the darkness for the reader. This is the first volume and I shall definitely wait for the next.

I think I would do this an injustice if I didn't talk about the artwork.! This graphic novel had stunning grey scale and pops of red illustrations that just goes hand in hand with the atmospheric nature of this book!

The novel itself was fast faced, could and was read in one sitting. However the plot generic and lacked character development. I must admit I didn't care what happened to the protagonist one way or another, or other characters in fact.

It rather felt as if I had found myself mid way into a series, and missed the all world building, characters developments, past altercations, and the storyline. Maybe a well thought out prequel will save this?

I really love Noir media and this was definitely a fun escape into such a nostalgic time period.

While it was your very typical noir story, infidelity, violence, whisky etc, it was still a really fun time.

I think the characters could have definitely done with some more development, particularly the women but this was a fun time for an hour.

The colours of this album are nice. There are many shades of grey with just a touch of colour: red. It gives a rather elegant, and maybe a bit bloody, effect to the story. Moreover, the drawings are very beautiful.
Otherwise, as far as the story is concerned, I liked it but it's not the comic book of the century for me either. It is clear that a woman is at the centre of this picture of violence. This first volume is full of mysteries that I hope will be answered in the next volume. In any case, I found the atmosphere of this thriller very well done.
I recommend it to those who like or want to discover the film noir style

Most American comic fans will recognize Enrico Marini as a recent collaborator on DC Comics Batman books with his series, Batman: The Dark Prince Charming gaining critical praise a few years back. For fans wanting more of his style, look no farther than Noir Burlesque, a new comic from Europe Comics. It harkens back to the cigar smoke tinged films of yesteryear full of brooding anti-heroes battling their own cynicism, fatalism, and moral ambiguity just to stay alive in a city that would rather have them dead. Pour yourself a glass of whiskey (or I guess a “White Slick”) and curl up with this book, it’s equal parts exciting and titillating, and all class.

The star of this book is unquestionably the artwork. Consisting of a black and white palette with flashes of bright red here and there, it’s truly a feast for the eyes. I felt myself looking over the pages, studying every frame more than I usually do with books like this just because I liked the lines so much. It doesn’t hurt that gorgeous women are plastered over every page either. I’ve seen a few other books do this, and it’s always something I like seeing when it happens. Sometimes, the minimalism of a reduced color selection really makes things “pop” moreso than something packed full of colors.

The storyline is somewhat cliché, but honestly when folks get a noir comic, I think there is an expectation of what the contents will be. If this went on some weird tangent, I bet it would alienate some of the people excited for this. It has all of the trappings of any movie that glamorizes post prohibition era crime stories: would-be mobsters in ill-fitting suits, corrupt cops, sexy burlesque dancers, and your typical working-class Joe that nearly died in the war, only to find it hard to reintegrate into society.

While it breaks no new ground, Noir Burlesque is a competent classic-styled noir crime thriller that keeps the action going all the way through. Hopefully volume two comes out sooner than later because this was left on a hell of a cliffhanger, not to mention the thing we saw at the very beginning of the book. If you like film noir or neo noir stories, Europe Comics have had quite a few solid titles like this – Contrapasso, Blacksad, and to a degree Days of Sand. I’d recommend this along with all of those, as they always release quality content.

A fast paced and action packed graphic novel. The story and artwork is fantastic. I cannot wait for the second book to come out!

This shows the visual craft to explain why the creator has been let loose on Batman, but boy this is a stodge of stereotypes and cliches. Black and white and red all over, this stylish noir has all the relevant look – the right cars and city-scapes, and especially the lead woman – but is so lumpenly forming something out of the most obvious cliches possible, you're kind of duty-bound to buy the second half (when it even exists) to see if it was worthwhile. Gorgeous moll beholden to the Crime Lord, yet still boffing our anti-hero when she can? Demands of one-last-job? None of this is in any way new – so far...

You can almost smell the whisky and cigar smoke when you read this. The clink of glasses in a smoky bar while jazzy blues fills the air. If you are a fan of Public Enemies, Boardwalk Empire, and Live by Night, you will love this. It was a quick read but you feel immersed in the atmosphere of the 1920-1930's gangster lifestyle. The art is absolutely stunning and perfect for this style and story. I'm excited to read part 2!

I've read it in one sitting, was a very beautifully drawn comic, loved the style very much.

The story was interesting, and I just realized later on what Burlesque means, which is a satire, or parody and now it makes sense that the story didn't have anything special to it, to add, it felt like any other maffia story, which was fun and if yoz like these stories it delivers.

As a huge fan of the Noir cartoon/animation style, this comic definitely did that part good, and that way it's a perfect book.

It's a graphic novel with some really beautiful illustrations and a genuine noir feel, but the story itself didn't really do anything particularly special for me. I'd read the next instalment to see where the story goes, but I wouldn't tell anyone to rush out and read it at this stage.

I love the art, it was beauty but the storyline itself was cliche. A man who is "mysterious" fighting people and being targeted by supposed bad guys. The girl who is in love with him but is dating the man who is after him, it's just too cliche.

I’ve never read anything like this before. The artwork and the story line was beautiful. It was relatively short and I was really hanging out for more. I think anyone will enjoy this

Slick is back after Many years of leave and now he's returned to find his woman I the arms of his old friend- Rex.
Now Rex wants his money paid up but Slick has other plans in mind. And it involves sneaking around with Rex's woman.

I loved this so much. It was like watching a mafia story unfold. The drawing is beautiful with key characters having distinct red colours of hair, bags, clothing, lips etc. There's a 90s vibe you get from reading this monochromatic comic.

It ends with such a cliffhanger you'd scream for more.

Noir Burlesque by Enrico Marini is a noir graphic novel with a pencil palette and pops of red. The story revolves around Slick, who has fallen in love with Caprice, a burlesque dancer. Unfortunately, Caprice is engaged to Rex, a local mafia boss. According to the description, the book takes "inspiration from the Hollywood noir films of the 1950s" and combines "crime, love, jealousy, and betrayal."

Overall, Noir Burlesque is an interesting take on a noir graphic novel. One highlight of this book is the artwork. I found the pencil color palette to be very well-done. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy this graphic novel because of the nudity and sexual content. This book is categorized accurately as erotica or "adult," and I'm not a fan of that genre. This Book is about a man named slick who fell in love with a girl but left her for a training. she moved onwith another mafia leader named Rex. she then became a stripper on stage and was married to rex. behind rex's back she met with slick,but ended up snitching on him when Rex found out it was him



The girl whom I cant remember the name of striked me as,naive lonely and gullible. I think she just wanted to be on stage and rex manipulated her into doing that kind of dancing on stage. slick striked me as cocky and strong willed. i dont think he was a bad person, but i do think he acted like a child with a gun. i think Rex was manipulative

overall this book had a great storyline but it felt anticlimactic. i think the characters were well thought out so overall im rating this book a 4 out of 5 stars!

Fun in a dark, twisty 50's sort of way. The title explains it all quite aptly, a noir setting and feeling sinks into the marrow of your very bones as you read and view these hauntingly beautiful images. One automatically knows it will not end well for the cast of instantly intriguing characters, but by God do you want to know what exactly happens to them.
