After reading Pat Fowle's book, I realize how many memories or "glimpses" we all have regarding the various events in our lives -- both good and not so good. Each chapter of Ms. Fowle's book contains a story/event from her life -- some from her travels with her late husband and others from home. All have a deep, personal meaning for her that she wants to impart to her readers.
Labeled a fragmented autobiography, the chapters are short with some stories catching my interest more than others, but all share a common theme -- they are glimpses into Ms. Fowle's life and her love of family and because of that, they are significant to her. I was surprised by the number of events that had a mystical quality to them and while intriguing, it was hard for me to get on board with some of them.
The book tends to be short on paragraphs so that in some instances there are whole pages of solid narrative -- something that can be off putting to a reader and makes for a more tedious read. All in all, this is a quick and charming read. I would like to thank #NetGalley and Matador Publishers for providing this electronic ARC of #Glimpses.
