Great read, flows perfectly. Well-written and completely engaging. I have devoured this book in one sitting with no regrets. I NEED more. Heidi Swain is a QUEEN. This is a gem and I have loved every second.

I received an ARC of, The Summer Fair, by Heidi Swain. It was nice to see old friends again. This is a lovely village. I just did not care for Eli at all.

4/5⭐
Beth used to love music and was looking forward to a promising singing career. But all of that changed when her mum became ill and she was forced to give up her dreams to care for her. Now, with the prospect of a new job in the Care Home she already works at and a new houseshare, Beth's finally starting to look forward. Until she discovers her new roommate, Eli, is a musician. Having spent so long pushing music out of her life, could Eli and the eccentric residents of Nightingale Square encourage her to reignite her old passion and find a place for it again?
Heidi's reputation precedes her so I had no fear waltzing straight in to this book with high expectations. And she didn't disappoint!
‘The Summer Fair’ revisits Nightingale Square and has some returning characters from other books but you don't need to have read any of these as this can easily be read as a standalone novel.
Warm, uplifting and cute, this book is full of believable, lovable characters. Especially the quirky mix of care home residents- I absolutely fell in love with Greta!
I love the sense of community and togetherness that's always a large theme in Heidi's books.
The perfect summer read, you'll want to add this to your TBR immediately!
Thanks to @netgalley and @heidi_swain for the advance copy ❤

Heidi is my fave and she did not disappoint!! I loved this gorgeous book and devoured it in two evenings! It was so beautiful

It's so good to be back in Nightingale Sq again with another story. This one is about Beth who works in the local care home. She is so lovely with all the residents and loves her job but hates her flat share.
Beth takes one of the residents out on her day off and that's when she's introduced to Nightingale Sq.
After years of refusing to listen to music or sing after a traumatic episode in her life, she seems unable to avoid music. It's everywhere. Even in her workplace especially when a new residents appears and the others who live there start demanding more music. Just when Beth's life was improving she now has to deal with her biggest fear, letting music back into her life.
Another good read with old and new characters. There were times when I didn't like Beth very much.
The way she stopped her mum from seeing her best friend and then cut the woman and her other friends from her life. It was hard to hear of her doing this when she really needed them for support.
I loved the introduction of the residents from the care home and them being involved with the nightingale Sq activities. There were some very funny bits curtesy of the older generation who really made the book for me.
I love these books by Heidi Swain and hope she keeps writing more.

We are back in Nightingale Square for this book, this time with Beth who recently lost her mum, hates the flat share she is living in but loves her job as a carer in a retirement home.
One of the residents she looks after persuades her to take him to meet his old friends in Nightingale Square where she finds out there is a house share available and falls in love with it, unfortunately she can't afford it on her salary until a surprise promotion at work makes it possible
As Beth meets the residents and she starts her new job her life starts to change in ways she never thought possible
Another brilliant book, a definite must read

This was an absolutely wonderful read. It was toughing and heart warming. The setting in a care home was something a little different and really touching. Beth was a really wonderful character and her move to Nightingale Square was so life changing for her. It was wonderful to see the character overcoming so much grief and heartbreak but coming out so much better at the other side. Loved it.

It was good to be back In Nghtingale Square, enjoyable story mixing old and new characters. A little bit twee in places but still worth reading. Thank you netgalley for the advance copy

It was a delight to go back to Nightingale Square. I liked the use of community, and would love to be a part of it. I hope to read more of the series! Loved all the new characters and d.

So brilliant to be back at Nightingale Square!
I so enjoy visiting this wonderful community and it was fantastic to meet some new fabulous characters too!
Beth has her issues, banning music from her life because it’s too painful to allow it in. You really feel her emotions and are desperate for things to improve for her. So when she has the opportunity to not only to improve her career, the chance to move away from her despicable housemates into a shared house on Nightingale Square suddenly arrives.
Only problem is that music and interacting in a close community also comes with the move, so will Beth regret her new life choices?
I loved the quirky, fun characters that we meet in the care home where Beth works, they add a sense of fun and it was marvellous to see how Beth grew a special community within the home.
Eli has his own issues, however he brings back music to Beth and slowly makes her start believing in herself and so she starts to allow it back into her life.
For me the themes of music and it’s importance for your mental health and as a way to express yourself was really important and something I completely could relate with.
Heartwarming and uplifting, I enjoyed every page, character and setting in this beautiful book.

Another fabulous story from Heidi Swain. We return to Nightingale square, one of the friendliest sounding places to live, with the most wonderful community. We are introduced to Beth who is a carer in a residential home for the elderly where Harold, (a previous resident of Nightingale square) lives. He asks her to accompany him back to the square where he is still part of the gardening group there. This is where Beth's otherwise difficult life, starts to change with the magic that seems to ooze out of Nightingale square. I loved the connection between Beth's work place and the square and I absolutely loved meeting the residents and waiting to hear what antics they would get up to next. A thoroughly enjoyable book

I loved returning to Nightingale Square in this story, I loved catching up with all the characters and meeting new ones. Heidi has a way of writing that is so comforting, and it is a perfect read to snuggle up with. It made me wish for better weather and to feel the sun on my face. I didn't want to put this book down and I was sad when it finished so I re-read it again. The story is about Beth who after having a bit of a rough deal she moves to Nightingale Square, I loved how we get to know Beth more and how the community all rally round to make her feel welcome, if I ever moved that is where I would love to live. It sounds wonderful. It is not just what the community do for her but what she also does for them. It is such a heart warming story and I just loved it.

A welcome return to Nightingale Square where we catch up with residents old and new.
A new job and the opportunity of a move to Nightingale Square is just what Beth needs, after a harrowing time things are finally looking up. The only fly in the ointment is that new housemate Eli is a massive music lover and Beth lost her love for music after the death of her mum. With Eli’s help, Beth soon discovers that life without music would be a mistake.
A delightful uplifting story with an excellent cast of characters which was an enjoyable and entertaining read.

Another delightful addition to the catalogue of Heidi’s work! I can always rely on Heidi for the most beautiful story and set of characters - as well as well loved characters from her back catalogue.
ADORE!

How fabulous to be back in Nightingale Square with friends old and new, Heidi swain brings the characters to life in her own passionate way a wonderful read from beginning to end can highly recommend.

I loved this beautiful book. I loved being back in Nightingale Square but this time with a new character. I loved the community feel and the romance at the heart of the book. Every page was an utter pleasure.

Another brilliant book by Heidi Swain.
This book sees a return to Nightingale Square where we meet residents old and new,
The book focuses on Beth who works in a local care home. She accompanies Harold, one of the residents, on a visit to the Grow-well project in the Square. A better paid job at the care home enables her to afford a house-share in there.
Music used to mean so much to Beth, but her Mother's stroke and subsequent death, means she now completely avoids it. Will her new housemate, the residents of the Square and the Nightingale Square Community help her reignite her love if music?

A charming story that I had to finish so lazy Sunday afternoons are perfect for curling up on the sofa and reading. Despite having a few of Heidi’s books on my kindle, this is the first one I’ve read and I will be back.

Another fabulous book from Heidi Swain! This time, we're transported back to the wonderful Nightingale Square, where we visit all of the beloved characters from previous books - Poppy, Jacob, Luke, Freya to name a few! This book can however be read as a stand alone.
Beth works in a care home, and finds herself offered an exciting new job, just at the same time as she is offered a room in a shared house on Nightingale Square. She moves in with music lover Eli, but can she be happy there knowing she has banned music from her own life? Can she find a way to accept her past and refind her former best friend and musical talent?
I really enjoyed revisiting the well-loved characters, and the new ones (Beth, Eli, Pete and Freddie in particular) were fabulous new additions. Heidi nevers fails to make me smile, and to really bring her characters into my heart. I'm now impatiently waiting for the next story!

I was thrilled to receive an advanced review copy of Heidi’s new book, anyone who has read my blog will know I am a HUGE Heidi Swain fan and have been since the very first book. And this one did not disappoint.
The Summer Fair is set back in the wonderful community of Nightingale Square and we follow the story of Beth as she struggles with her horrible housemates and juggles with the grief of the anniversary of her mother passing away.
It was a joy to be back in Nightingale Square again and it was great to catch up with some much loved characters – Lisa, Kate, Poppy, Nell! We see Beth encounter Nightingale Square and Prospero Place for the first time and, like the rest of us, she falls instantly in love. She is unhappy in her current house share but knows she could never afford to live such a wonderful place.
Beth is also carrying around some demons from her past – guilt in the form of how she has treated some old friends, guilt about her mother’s passing and a desperation to silence any music from her life. She has no idea how much music is going to appear in her life again and she soon realises that ‘a life without music would be a mistake’.
Along the way we visit Blossoms for their gorgeous cakes, have lots of pizza in the Grow-well and enjoy the warmth of a summer garden party. There are plenty of characters in this fantastic summery read – and some very eccentric pensioners who will really make you chuckle.
I really related to this book as my nan used to work in a care home and I’ve run many a summer fair myself – including a music festival! I was right there in the middle of it. I cried tears of sadness, tears of joy and I was left humming along to Billie Holiday.
A must read book this summer. And if you haven’t read Heidi’s previous books, go back and read them all. You are in for a treat.
