Ellie and her Mom Karen inherit a farm in the Cornish countryside. Full of animals that were rescued and lots of run down buildings it needs work. When her pushy fiance wants her to sell things get rough. She has had doubts about him already, but this puts Rupert in the hot seat. When she meets hunky vet Ben it gets even more complex. Didn't like Rupert from the start, but also found the them of lying/trust/honesty being overused a bit. Was reading two books (on different devices) and both had almost the same issue. Otherwise, enjoyed this one and would highly recommend it. Now I want a small farm so I can have a donkey or two.
A really great story, charming, atmospheric, great characters. Filled me with warmth and spirit. Well written and flowed nicely, was romantic and funny, charming and full of fun. A great read, i really enjoyed it.
I loved this book! It's well written and holds your attention. It's a sweet romance that was an absolute wonderful read. I loved the characters, the setting and all the animals. This is the perfect book to escape with. I highly recommend it.
I received a complimentary copy from Boldwood Books via NetGalley and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Really enjoyed this storyline and the fact it had loads of quirky animals in as well, well written with lovely characters, can't wait to read more in the series
This book was sent to me electronically for review by Netgalley. Inheriting a home with a donkey...a donkey...how sweet. Likable characters...a great story line...family and friends...themes running throughout the book written by a talented author. I enjoyed this book although I do not really like books with animals (ex dogs of course)...fun read...quick read...enjoyable...have a good time reading...relax...
Thank you Boldwood Books for the ARc to read and review.
This is another perfectly adequate romcom about a woman with a bad boyfriend, a dead end job, and dreams finally being released to pursue her HEA. She does this on a farm once owned by her beloved aunt.
No surprises, just no really exciting.
Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC of Welcome to Seabreeze Farm. This is my personal review.
Ellie needed a change after finding she did not get the promotion she was expecting at her job.
Then she discovers her aunt had left farm to her and her mother. They discover the farmhouse needs a lot more work than they anticipated.
But off they go and the characters in the story are great, and the farm animals add a lot.
I liked the story but wanted just a little bit more from it than I got.
Another wonderful romantic read from the wonderful Jo Bartlett. This book is uplifting and heart warming and I could just picture myself right there along with the characters at sea breeze farm. Wonderful.
This is a fantastic feelgood read! Ellie after loosing her job, comes home to learn that her and her mum have inherited her great aunt’s farm. She quickly becomes taken with carrying on the work rescuing animals just like her great aunt, but her boyfriend Rupert’s plans don’t include a country life. What will Ellie do?
The farm is absolutely charming and the beautiful village and clifftop setting just make this book magical.
The characters really grow with the book, you find yourself falling in love with the different personalities as they all pull together and form a gorgeous community.
It’s a truly gorgeous read, the different animals that inhabit the farm really make it and it’s a really empowering and uplifting story about following your heart!
Thankyou to netgalley and Boldwood books for the opportunity to review this treat of a story!
This is the first time reading a book by this author...it will not be my last. Ellie had a horrible day at work where she decides to leave her job after learning she has not gotten the promotion she thought was hers. Worse yet she has to tell her fiancé, Rupert, who is only intent on having both of them save as much money before they marry. Ellie arrives at home to a different surprise. Upon learning that her mother, Karen, and her have inherited a farm totally makes a difference in their lives. This is not just any farm, but one that has rescued animals there as well. Together they take a chance to make "a go" of their inheritance and while doing so they go through a journey of self-discovery. Adding to the main characters, are a host of others who make this an endearing read. As this is the first in the series, I cannot wait for the next book. Highly recommended.
A fabulous start to a new series from this wonderful story teller.
Ellie living and working in London is hoping for promotion in an investment bank, engaged to Rupert they had a five year plan, then a big bomb shell, leaving her out of a job altogether, how is she going to tell him?
Her aunt Hilary has passed away and her and her mother Karen are now joint owners of Sea breeze farm in Kelsea Bay Kent a delightful farmhouse with a lot of work to be done are they biting off more than they can chew?
As we join them both settling in she knows Rupert will never think of moving here so she had to make a choice on the relationship especially as she has built up a friendship with Ben Hastings
Oh I adored this book so much, it's a fantastic start to a new series as we follow Ellie building up the farm, it captures a lot of emotions along the way and it's a far from easy one to take on. Taking a lot of determination but Ellie's heart is following on from her Aunt Hilary its was such a joy to read. I loved it all.
Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. I loved the Cornish Midwives series, so was excited and a little apprehensive to read 'Welcome to Seabreeze Farm'. Thankfully it did not disappoint. It was a short, gentle read, well-written and with an engaging and likeable (except Rupert) cast of characters (human and animal!). I was invested in the story, although at times I think I would have liked even more depth. A great read.
Another wonderful read from Jo Bartlett. A wonderful story of how Ellie and her mum inherit Seabreeze farm and its animals from her favourite Aunt. Ellie has recently missed out on the job of her partners dreams and then finds out her partner is not the man she thought he was. The unexpected inheritance comes at a time when both herself and her mum need a change of direction. However not everything goes smoothly from poorly animals, a grumpy neighbour and a fast emptying purse, not a day goes by that Ellie realises how beautiful her surroundings are. I loved it
I received an ARC of, Welcome to Seabreeze Farm, by Jo Bartlett. This is a lovely story. I really liked Ellie and Ben, even the donkey. The farm seems to be a wonderful place to live, though a work in progress.
Really enjoyed this book, great characters great story you can tell it's going to be a super series. Thank you netgalley for the advance copy
What a lovely read this was. I so enjoyed escaping to the coast with Ellie and her mum. The plot had enough twists in it to keep me on my toes whilst still being a charming and romantic story to escape into. The characters were well thought out, mostly lovable aside from the villain of the story who really was despicable. I will definitely keep an eye out for more from this author.
I absolutely love this author and was so excited for this new series and it certainly didn’t disappoint. I read it in practically one sitting and can’t wait for the next instalment. Was such a lovely refreshing escapism read.
This author always writes from the heart and her books are so much more than just romance as they have deep seated emotions and real life
Issues at their core. Welcome to sea breeze farm was the start of a journey of new beginnings and fresh starts for Ellie and her mum Karen and also a
Journey of self discovery for them both to find what they are really looking for in life.
It also had a real community feel about it and of everyone pulling together to make each other happy and for things to work out.
Can’t wait to see where the next book in the series takes the characters on their journey.
Another brilliant book by Jo Bartlett. A story of mad animals, bitter x , two love stories . The main character Ellie was lovely and determined . She had a tough but loving up bringing and when she and her mum inherited Seabreeze Farm from her great aunt she made it work . I loved how she saved Holly the sheep.. Reading about all the home baking was yummy.. A great read.
I absolutely loved this new book from Jo Bartlett. I’m already a fan of her Cornish Midwife series so was very excited to get stuck into another offering.
A great mix of quirky characters (and not all of the human variety) leads to funny, laugh of loud moments as well as heartfelt, tenderness and a little bit of drama of course.
Ellie and her Mum inherit the run down Seabreeze Farm and take their chance. Putting in a lot of hard work, taking risks and getting involved with their local community all help them get on their feet but will a certain mean spirited, jealous and money orientated ex cause too much trouble for Ellie.
An engaging read that I didn’t want to put down at all. A lovely story of new beginnings, making memories, showing kindness and following your heart.
What a wonderful start to a new series, I can’t wait to go back and see what happens next.
I did enjoy Welcome to Seabreeze Farm and am looking forward to the next book in the series, but I didn't like it quite as much as the Cornish Midwife books. I liked Ellie and Ben and Karen and Alan but I just felt like something was missing. It's not always clear how much time has passed so sometimes it feels like things were coming together too quickly and easily for Ellie and Karen. And since you never really got a sense of how much money they had saved up and how much it was costing them to fix everything up you were never sure how dire their circumstances were. The relationship between Ben and Ellie comes about so quickly and easily I didn't feel like I got to watch them fall in love, it was more 'boom' they're in love. You got a little more of that with Karen and Alan which made for a very sweet love story between the two of them. I was a little surprised by just how awful Rupert turned out to be, it really makes you wonder how he had kept that side of himself secret for so long. I didn't understand why Ben was so worried that Ellie would eventually leave him after she had told him how much she hated what her life had become before coming out to the farm and had showed how much the farm meant to her. At least everyone else told him what a moron he was being and gave him the push he needed to make things right with her. I'm looking forward to the next book to learn more about Olivia. We get a nice little teaser of what is going on with her in the epilogue and I can't wait to get the full story!
