Lavy's rainy day was a perfect book to read with my granddaughter. Lavy and her mother have a special day planned with a picnic in the park. When she wakes up, she sees that it is raining and they can't go. She is very disappointed, but have no fear. Mummy creates a special day for them inside and Lavy realizes that spending time with mummy is what was important. My granddaughter and I talked about time she spends with her mom, one who works five days a week. These special times together are priceless! I loved how imaginative mummy was, but would have liked it more if she and Lavy had planned things out together. The illustrations were wonderful with so much expression evoking emotion on every page. My other complaint is that the tenses kept switching, not that my granddaughter noticed that. Overall, this was a winner for us.

Such a wonderful story of turning a disappointment into something fun instead! I hope my kids and I will learn some valuable lessons from Lavy!

This is a really special book, which is heartwarming and delightful. Lavy is sad as it is raining, which means she isn't going to get to play in the park. Her mother tells her not to worry, and that she will still be able to enjoy her time at home, and to see the gift. Lavy plays with bubbles while she washes the dishes, she bakes cookies with her mother, and then she gets a surprise, which she really enjoys. She then realises what her gift was, and she gives her mother the biggest hug ever. This book made me cry, as it was just so full of love. The artwork in it is amazing too! Highly recommended!

A sweet story about learning to make the most of something disappointing. This is a story about a day at the park being ruined by rain and finding things to do inside instead. Lavy learns that just spending time together and doing fun things inside can be just as good as a day at the park.

Lavy’s Rainy Day is a sweet story about a little girl who wakes up excited to go to the park for a picnic with her mummy but is disappointed when she discovers it'd raining. Her mum plans lots of activities to do at home to entertain Lavy instead and all consist of spending it together. Mum encourages Lavy to find the hidden gift of the day and Lavy works out what it is at the end of the day - spending time together with those you love.
The illustrations are cute but the only downfall was the use of present and past tense during this book. Apart from that it was great!

Lavy is so excited to go to the park, but a rainy day ruins her plans! Can she find a way to still see the good in the day? This story has a fantastic message about resilience and gratitude. The love between mother and daughter, and the way the mother gently and supportively guides Lavy, is quite heartwarming.

Unfortunately the text of the book jumps inexplicably between present and past tense. It's jarring and takes me right out of the story. For this reason, I probably wouldn't use it in the classroom.

I have been look for some quick and easy children’s books to read out loud and this fitted that spot and that need perfectly! Not only was this such a sweet little read, especially for young readers, with such a positive meaning behind it, but it also has really nice illustrations within it that make it a lot more enjoyable for young children when having it read to them.

This book does have a great message behind it and allows you to see how something negative can turn into something great, depending on your perspective and attitude you have towards things. Allowing you to show and express this in a way that is also relatable to children. However, this message is not subtle in the slightest and one that I have read time and time again.

I really liked the illustrations within this book as they’re not only beautiful, but they bring the story to life.

I did like this story book, but I will let you know that if you intend of reading this story as a bed time story to very young children (less than four years old) you’ll need to make it shorter, it has gorgeous drawings you can really feel the love in the drawings, but the text is quite compact.
That aside is a good story about how to keep busy when the weather don’t support our plans of going to the park.

A rainy day spoils plans that Lavy has with her mom. How many times do we have our day spoiled about a change in weather, plans, etc. It can be difficult for young children to deal with those feelings. Mom helps Lavy see the positive on a rainy day. A book made to help parent and child work thru those feelings of disappointments.

I love this children’s picture book about Lavy’s Rainy Day. Lavy had looked forward to her favorite activity, playing in the park and having a picnic with her mommy. When she awoke that day, it was raining. Lavy was sad because her plans were ruined.

Her mother came up with fun alternative activities, and they had a wonderful day. By evening, Lavy realized that her day was still special as she was spending time with her mother. The moral of the story is that our thoughts and attitudes are our choice. We can choose to be happy, even when things don’t turn out as planned. Don’t forget to see the rainbow after the rain!

Going along with this lesson, I personally like to keep a gratitude journal. Each day, you write one thing that you are grateful for. The next day, you add another thing and then read your entire list. Repeat the activity daily. The gratitude journal helps to keep your mindset on being grateful and happy about what you have rather than what you don’t have.

The illustrations were so detailed that they appeared to be 3 D. I liked the background pages as they looked like calming clouds. The font chosen blends well with the background. Overall, the pictures were bright, colorful, and cheerful.

This book would be a beautiful addition to any child’s home, pre-kindergarten, or elementary education setting. I would be interested in reviewing any other books by this author and illustrator.

Cute book about perspective and finding joy in a day that didn’t go as planned. Lavy realizes that the “gift” in spending time with her mom and her mom’s love for her.

Apparently I’m that lady who gets choked up reading children’s books. This one got me! This is a sweet story about a little girl named Lavy who feels dissapointed that her day at the park is ruined because of rain. Her mother promises her that the day will be a gift. She plans a fun day for the little girl full of bubbles in the sink, cookie baking, and even a tea party.

The little girl tears up at the end of the story when she realizes with glee that her gift was spending all this special time with her mother having fun inside. Her mother tells her that it’s all about perspective, and she can choose to have a good or bad day, no matter the circumstances.

My 4 year old twin daughters insisted we have a tea party after reading this book! Baking muffins is on the agenda for later.

This is such a beautiful book that's going to be a staple in many households bookshelves. Lavy really does see that looking at things in a different light can turn even the sad things into something positive. Just because you can't have a picnic in the park doesn't mean that you can't have an even better picnic in the dining room. Loved this book.

What a very sweet book about making the best of a bad situation. After a trip to the park is cancelled because of the rain, Lavy and her mother have a day at home with lots of different experiences. This story has a good message that as long as there's love, you will enjoy your time. The illustrations were okay, I think the ones of Lavy were a little too realistic for me.

Lavy had big plans with her mommy and was so excited, but then she is disappointed as the rain stops her plans from happening, but her mommy does everything she can to make it fun.

I liked that this book taught young kids that even if something goes wrong and their plans must change that they can still find good and fun things to do all day. It was really sweet that her mommy let her learn new things and that she enjoyed everything and got distracted from her sad day.

I loved the illustrations throughout the book, they were so pretty. This was a cute book and had a sweet message within it.

A cute story about searching for all of the positive aspects in a situation that feels negative. I wish there had been at least one scenario where she found something to do on her own that could be fun or happy. I think it’s important for parents to help when kids are having a hard time, but also unrealistic for a parent to be providing constant entertainment for the entire day. A sweet story nonetheless.

This book was adorable and I will absolutely be buying it for my daughter! I loved the fact that it teaches a lesson on how to make the best of everyday and the illustrations were so cute, too, which was a plus! So so good!

A sweet book about finding the bright side in an otherwise disappointing situation. As an adult I appreciated the message that this book was conveying but, unfortunately, it did not hold the attention of the 4 and 6 years that I nanny. The illustrations are adorable but did not impress the children, they are used to more colorful and active illustrations. At the end of the book the children were happy Lavy had a fun day and we discussed what we should do on our next rainy day. Overall, the children enjoyed the message of the book it was just a challenge to get them to sit and listen to the story.

This is a story about Lavy’s rainy day being ruined by the rain. Or so she thought?! She discovers she may have the power to have a good day after all.I think this is a great book to read with elementary school children just because i think it is a bit long for a toddler or bedtime story.
